Hosea 12

1 Mit Lügen umzingelt mich Efraim, mit Betrug das Haus Israel. [Aber Juda hält auch in der Fremde zu Gott und bleibt dem Hochheiligen treu.]	1 Ephraim feeds on wind and follows burning heat; all day long he multiplies lies and desolation. And he has entered into a pact with the Assyrians, and he has carried oil into Egypt.
2 Efraim weidet den Wind, immer läuft es dem Ostwind nach. Es häuft Lüge auf Lüge, Gewalt auf Gewalt. Es schließt mit Assur ein Bündnis und liefert Öl nach Ägypten.	2 Therefore, the judgment of the Lord is with Judah and a visitation is upon Jacob. He will repay him according to his ways and according to his inventions.
3 Darum geht der Herr mit Israel ins Gericht, er straft Jakob für sein Verhalten und zahlt ihm heim, wie es seine Taten verdienen.	3 In the womb, he supplanted his brother; for in his good fortune, he had been guided by an angel.
4 Schon im Mutterleib hinterging er seinen Bruder, und als er ein Mann war, rang er mit Gott.	4 And he prevailed over an angel, for he had been strengthened. He wept and petitioned him. He found him in Bethel, and there he has spoken to us.
5 [Er wurde Herr über den Engel und siegte.] Weinend flehte er ihn um Gnade an. Er fand ihn in Bet-El und dort sprach er mit ihm.	5 And the Lord God of hosts, the Lord is his memorial.
6 Der Herr, der Gott der Heere, dessen Name Jahwe ist, (sagte:)	6 And so, you should convert to your God. Keep mercy and judgment, and have hope in your God always.
7 Du wirst mit Hilfe deines Gottes heimkehren; bewahre die Liebe und das Recht und hoffe immer auf deinen Gott!	7 Canaan, in his hand is a deceitful balance, he has chosen false accusations.
8 Doch dieser Händler hat eine falsche Waage in der Hand, er liebt den Betrug.	8 And Ephraim has said, “Nevertheless, I have become rich; I have found an idol for myself. All of my labors will not reveal to me the iniquity that I have committed.”
9 Efraim sagt: Ich bin reich geworden und habe mir ein Vermögen erworben. Nichts, was ich erwarb, gilt mir als Unrecht und Sünde.	9 And I, the Lord your God from the land of Egypt, nevertheless will cause you to dwell in tabernacles, just as during the days of the feast.
10 Aber ich, der Herr, dein Gott, seit der Zeit in Ägypten, ich lasse dich wieder in Zelten wohnen wie in den Tagen der (ersten) Begegnung.	10 And I have spoken through the prophets, and I have multiplied visions, and I have used parables through the hands of the prophets.
11 Ich rede zu den Propheten, ich lasse sie viele Visionen sehen und durch die Propheten sende ich Vernichtung.	11 If Gilead is an idol, then they have been sacrificing cattle in Gilgal to no purpose. For even their altars are like clutter on the soil of the field.
12 Schon in Gilead beging man Verbrechen und auch jetzt handeln sie völlig verkehrt. Sie opfern in Gilgal den Stieren; darum werden auch ihre Altäre den Steinhaufen gleichen, die man neben den Äckern aufhäuft.	12 Jacob fled into the region of Syria, and Israel served like a wife, and was served by a wife.
13 Jakob floh in die Gegend von Aram; wegen eines Weibes wurde Israel zum Knecht, wegen eines Weibes hütete er Schafe.	13 Yet by a prophet the Lord led Israel out of Egypt, and he was served by a prophet.
14 Aber durch einen Propheten führte der Herr Israel aus Ägypten heraus und durch einen Propheten wurde es behütet.	14 Ephraim has provoked me to wrath with his bitterness, and his blood will overcome him, and his Lord will requite him for his shamefulness.
15 Efraim hat Gott bitter gekränkt, darum wird sein Herr ihn die Blutschuld büßen lassen und ihm die Beschimpfung heimzahlen.
