DOUAI-RHEIMSLXX
He that loveth correction, loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is foolish.1 ο αγαπων παιδειαν αγαπα αισθησιν ο δε μισων ελεγχους αφρων
He that is good, shall draw grace from the Lord : but he that trusteth in his own devices doth wickedly.2 κρεισσων ο ευρων χαριν παρα κυριω ανηρ δε παρανομος παρασιωπηθησεται
Men shall not be strengthened by wickedness: and the root of the just shall not be moved.3 ου κατορθωσει ανθρωπος εξ ανομου αι δε ριζαι των δικαιων ουκ εξαρθησονται
A diligent woman is a crown to her husband: and she that doth things worthy of confusion, is a rottenness in his bones.4 γυνη ανδρεια στεφανος τω ανδρι αυτης ωσπερ δε εν ξυλω σκωληξ ουτως ανδρα απολλυσιν γυνη κακοποιος
The thoughts of the just are judgments: and the counsels of the wicked are deceitful.5 λογισμοι δικαιων κριματα κυβερνωσιν δε ασεβεις δολους
The words of the wicked lie in wait for blood: the mouth of the just shall deliver them.6 λογοι ασεβων δολιοι στομα δε ορθων ρυσεται αυτους
Turn the wicked, and they shall not be: but the house of the just shall stand firm.7 ου εαν στραφη ασεβης αφανιζεται οικοι δε δικαιων παραμενουσιν
A man shall be known by his learning: but he that is vain and foolish, shall be exposed to contempt.8 στομα συνετου εγκωμιαζεται υπο ανδρος νωθροκαρδιος δε μυκτηριζεται
Better is the poor man that provideth for himself, than he that is glorious and wanteth bread.9 κρεισσων ανηρ εν ατιμια δουλευων εαυτω η τιμην εαυτω περιτιθεις και προσδεομενος αρτου
The just regardeth the lives of his beasts: but the bowels of the wicked are cruel.10 δικαιος οικτιρει ψυχας κτηνων αυτου τα δε σπλαγχνα των ασεβων ανελεημονα
He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that pursueth idleness is very foolish. He that is delighted in passing his time over wine, leaveth a reproach in his strong holds.11 ο εργαζομενος την εαυτου γην εμπλησθησεται αρτων οι δε διωκοντες ματαια ενδεεις φρενων [11α] ος εστιν ηδυς εν οινων διατριβαις εν τοις εαυτου οχυρωμασιν καταλειψει ατιμιαν
The desire of the wicked is the fortification of evil men: but the root of the just shall prosper.12 επιθυμιαι ασεβων κακαι αι δε ριζαι των ευσεβων εν οχυρωμασιν
For the sins of the lips ruin draweth nigh to the evil mall: but the just shall escape out of distress.13 δι' αμαρτιαν χειλεων εμπιπτει εις παγιδας αμαρτωλος εκφευγει δε εξ αυτων δικαιος [13α] ο βλεπων λεια ελεηθησεται ο δε συναντων εν πυλαις εκθλιψει ψυχας
By the fruit of his own mouth shall a man be filled with good things, and according to the works of his hands it shall be repaid him.14 απο καρπων στοματος ψυχη ανδρος πλησθησεται αγαθων ανταποδομα δε χειλεων αυτου δοθησεται αυτω
The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that is wise hearkeneth unto counsels.15 οδοι αφρονων ορθαι ενωπιον αυτων εισακουει δε συμβουλιας σοφος
A fool immediately sheweth his anger: but he that dissembleth injuries is wise.16 αφρων αυθημερον εξαγγελλει οργην αυτου κρυπτει δε την εαυτου ατιμιαν πανουργος
He that speaketh that which he knoweth, sheweth forth justice: but he that lieth, is a deceitful witness.17 επιδεικνυμενην πιστιν απαγγελλει δικαιος ο δε μαρτυς των αδικων δολιος
There is that promiseth, and is pricked as it were with a sword of conscience: but the tongue of the wise is health.18 εισιν οι λεγοντες τιτρωσκουσιν μαχαιρα γλωσσαι δε σοφων ιωνται
The lip of truth shall be steadfast for ever: but he that is a hasty witness, frameth a lying tongue.19 χειλη αληθινα κατορθοι μαρτυριαν μαρτυς δε ταχυς γλωσσαν εχει αδικον
Deceit is in the heart of them that think evil things: but joy followeth them that take counsels of peace.20 δολος εν καρδια τεκταινομενου κακα οι δε βουλομενοι ειρηνην ευφρανθησονται
Whatsoever shall befall the just man. it shall not make him sad: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.21 ουκ αρεσει τω δικαιω ουδεν αδικον οι δε ασεβεις πλησθησονται κακων
Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord: but they that deal faithfully please him.22 βδελυγμα κυριω χειλη ψευδη ο δε ποιων πιστεις δεκτος παρ' αυτω
A cautious man concealeth knowledge: and the heart of fools publisheth folly.23 ανηρ συνετος θρονος αισθησεως καρδια δε αφρονων συναντησεται αραις
The hand of the valiant shall bear rule: but that which is slothful, shall be under tribute.24 χειρ εκλεκτων κρατησει ευχερως δολιοι δε εσονται εις προνομην
Grief in the heart of a man shall bring him low, but with a good word he shall be made glad.25 φοβερος λογος καρδιαν ταρασσει ανδρος δικαιου αγγελια δε αγαθη ευφραινει αυτον
He that neglecteth a loss for the sake of a friend, is just: but the way of the wicked shall deceive them.26 επιγνωμων δικαιος εαυτου φιλος εσται αι δε γνωμαι των ασεβων ανεπιεικεις αμαρτανοντας καταδιωξεται κακα η δε οδος των ασεβων πλανησει αυτους
The deceitful man shall not find gain: but the substance of a just man shall be precious gold.27 ουκ επιτευξεται δολιος θηρας κτημα δε τιμιον ανηρ καθαρος
In the path of justice is life: but the by-way leadeth to death.28 εν οδοις δικαιοσυνης ζωη οδοι δε μνησικακων εις θανατον
