Proverbios 3

EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 Hijo mío, no olvides mi enseñanza, y que tu corazón observe mis mandamientos,	1 My son, do not forget my law, but let your heart guard my precepts.
2 porque ellos te aportarán largos días, años de vida y prosperidad.	2 For they shall set before you length of days, and years of life, and peace.
3 Que nunca te abandonen la buena fe y la lealtad: átalas a tu cuello. escríbelas sobre la tabla de tu corazón,	3 Let not mercy and truth abandon you: encircle them around your throat, and inscribe them on the tablets of your heart.
4 y encontrarás favor y aprobación a los ojos de Dios y de los hombres.	4 And so shall you discover grace and good discipline, in the sight of God and men.
5 Confía en el Señor y de todo corazón y no te apoyes en tu propia inteligencia;	5 Have confidence in the Lord with all your heart, and do not depend upon your own prudence.
6 reconócelo a él en todos sus caminos y él allanará tus senderos.	6 In all your ways, consider him, and he himself will direct your steps.
7 No seas sabio a tus propios ojos, teme al Señor y apártate del mal:	7 Do not seem wise to yourself. Fear God, and withdraw from evil.
8 eso será un remedio para tu carne y savia para tus huesos.	8 Certainly, it shall be health to your navel, and refreshment to your bones.
9 Honra al Señor con tus bienes y con las primicias de todas tus ganancias:	9 Honor the Lord with your substance, and give to him from the first of all your fruits,
10 así tus graneros se llenarán de trigo y tus lagares desbordarán de vino nuevo.	10 and then your storehouses will be filled with abundance, and your presses shall overflow with wine.
11 No desprecies, hijo mío, la corrección del Señor, ni te disgustes cuando él te reprende,	11 My son, do not discard the discipline of the Lord, and do not fall away when you are corrected by him.
12 porque el Señor reprende a los que ama como un padre a su hijo muy querido.	12 For whomever the Lord loves, he corrects, and just as a father does with a son, he wins him over.
13 ¡Feliz el hombre que encontró la sabiduría y el que obtiene la inteligencia,	13 Blessed is the man who finds wisdom and who advances to prudence.
14 porque ganarla vale más que la plata y ella rinde más que el oro fino!	14 Her acquisition is better than trading in silver, and her fruit is better than the first and purest gold.
15 Es más preciosa que las perlas y nada apetecible se le puede igualar.	15 She is more precious than all riches, and all that can be desired cannot prevail in comparison to her.
16 En su mano derecha hay larga vida, y en su izquierda, riqueza y gloria.	16 Length of days is at her right hand, and at her left hand is wealth and glory.
17 Sus caminos son caminos deliciosos y todos sus senderos son apacibles.	17 Her ways are beautiful ways, and all her paths are peaceful.
18 Es un árbol de vida para los que se aferran a ella y los que la retienen son felices.	18 She is a tree of life to those who overtake her, and he who shall take hold of her is blessed.
19 Por la sabiduría, el Señor fundó la tierra, por la inteligencia, afianzó los cielos;	19 The Lord founded the earth on wisdom. He secured the heavens with prudence.
20 por su ciencia brotaron los océanos y las nubes destilan el rocío.	20 By his wisdom, the abyss erupted and the clouds increased with dew.
21 Conserva, hijo mío, la prudencia y la reflexión; que ellas no se aparten de tus ojos.	21 My son, let not these things move away from your eyes. Preserve law as well as counsel.
22 Ellas serán vida para tu alma y gracia para tu cuello.	22 And so shall there be life in your soul and grace in your voice.
23 Entonces irás seguro por el camino y tu pie no tropezará.	23 Then you shall walk confidently in your way, and your feet will not stumble.
24 Si te acuestas, no temblarás, y una vez acostado, tu sueño será agradable.	24 When you slumber, you shall not fear. When you rest, your sleep also will be sweet.
25 No temerás ningún sobresalto ni a los malvados que llegan como una tormenta.	25 Do not fear unexpected terror, nor the power of the impious falling upon you.
26 Porque el Señor será tu seguridad y preservará tu pie de la trampa.	26 For the Lord will be at your side, and he will guard your feet, so that you may not be seized.
27 No niegues un beneficio al que lo necesite, siempre que esté en tus manos hacerlo.	27 Do not prevent him who is able from doing good. When you are able, do good yourself too.
28 No digas a tu prójimo: «Vuelve después, mañana te daré», si tienes con qué ayudarlo.	28 Do not say to your friend: “Go away, and then return. Tomorrow I will give to you.” When you are able to do so, give in the present.
29 No trames el mal contra tu prójimo, mientras vive confiado junto a ti.	29 Do not undertake evil against your friend, even though he has trust in you.
30 No litigues con un hombre sin motivo, si no te ha causado ningún mal.	30 Do not contend against a man without cause, even though he has done no evil to you.
31 No envidies al hombre violento ni elijas ninguno de sus caminos.	31 Do not rival an unjust man, and do not imitate his ways.
32 Porque el hombre perverso es abominable para el Señor, y él reserva su intimidad para los rectos.	32 For everyone who ridicules is an abomination to the Lord, and his communication is for the simple.
33 La maldición del Señor está en la casa del malvado, pero él bendice la morada de los justos.	33 Destitution in the house of the impious is from the Lord. But the habitations of the just shall be blessed.
34 El se burla de los insolentes y concede su favor a los humildes.	34 He will ridicule those who ridicule, but he will bestow grace upon the mild.
35 Los sabios heredarán la gloria, pero los necios cargarán con la ignominia.	35 The wise will possess glory. The exaltation of the foolish is disgraceful.
