Proverbios 3

EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Hijo mío, no olvides mi enseñanza, y que tu corazón observe mis mandamientos,	1 My child, do not forget my teaching, let your heart keep my principles,
2 porque ellos te aportarán largos días, años de vida y prosperidad.	2 since they will increase your length of days, your years of life and your wel -being.
3 Que nunca te abandonen la buena fe y la lealtad: átalas a tu cuello. escríbelas sobre la tabla de tu corazón,	3 Let faithful love and constancy never leave you: tie them round your neck, write them on the tablet ofyour heart.
4 y encontrarás favor y aprobación a los ojos de Dios y de los hombres.	4 Thus you will find favour and success in the sight of God and of people.
5 Confía en el Señor y de todo corazón y no te apoyes en tu propia inteligencia;	5 Trust wholeheartedly in Yahweh, put no faith in your own perception;
6 reconócelo a él en todos sus caminos y él allanará tus senderos.	6 acknowledge him in every course you take, and he wil see that your paths are smooth.
7 No seas sabio a tus propios ojos, teme al Señor y apártate del mal:	7 Do not congratulate yourself on your own wisdom, fear Yahweh and turn your back on evil:
8 eso será un remedio para tu carne y savia para tus huesos.	8 health-giving, this, to your body, relief to your bones.
9 Honra al Señor con tus bienes y con las primicias de todas tus ganancias:	9 Honour Yahweh with what goods you have and with the first-fruits of al your produce;
10 así tus graneros se llenarán de trigo y tus lagares desbordarán de vino nuevo.	10 then your barns will be fil ed with corn, your vats overflowing with new wine.
11 No desprecies, hijo mío, la corrección del Señor, ni te disgustes cuando él te reprende,	11 My child, do not scorn correction from Yahweh, do not resent his reproof;
12 porque el Señor reprende a los que ama como un padre a su hijo muy querido.	12 for Yahweh reproves those he loves, as a father the child whom he loves.
13 ¡Feliz el hombre que encontró la sabiduría y el que obtiene la inteligencia,	13 Blessed are those who have discovered wisdom, those who have acquired understanding!
14 porque ganarla vale más que la plata y ella rinde más que el oro fino!	14 Gaining her is more rewarding than silver, her yield is more valuable than gold.
15 Es más preciosa que las perlas y nada apetecible se le puede igualar.	15 She is beyond the price of pearls, nothing you could covet is her equal.
16 En su mano derecha hay larga vida, y en su izquierda, riqueza y gloria.	16 In her right hand is length of days; in her left hand, riches and honour.
17 Sus caminos son caminos deliciosos y todos sus senderos son apacibles.	17 Her ways are filled with delight, her paths al lead to contentment.
18 Es un árbol de vida para los que se aferran a ella y los que la retienen son felices.	18 She is a tree of life for those who hold her fast, those who cling to her live happy lives.
19 Por la sabiduría, el Señor fundó la tierra, por la inteligencia, afianzó los cielos;	19 In wisdom, Yahweh laid the earth's foundations, in understanding he spread out the heavens.
20 por su ciencia brotaron los océanos y las nubes destilan el rocío.	20 Through his knowledge the depths were cleft open, and the clouds distil the dew.
21 Conserva, hijo mío, la prudencia y la reflexión; que ellas no se aparten de tus ojos.	21 My child, hold to sound advice and prudence, never let them out of sight;
22 Ellas serán vida para tu alma y gracia para tu cuello.	22 they wil give life to your soul and beauty to your neck.
23 Entonces irás seguro por el camino y tu pie no tropezará.	23 You wil go on your way in safety, your feet wil not stumble.
24 Si te acuestas, no temblarás, y una vez acostado, tu sueño será agradable.	24 When you go to bed, you wil not be afraid; once in bed, your sleep will be sweet.
25 No temerás ningún sobresalto ni a los malvados que llegan como una tormenta.	25 Have no fear either of sudden terror or of attack mounted by wicked men,
26 Porque el Señor será tu seguridad y preservará tu pie de la trampa.	26 since Yahweh will be your guarantor, he wil keep your steps from the snare.
27 No niegues un beneficio al que lo necesite, siempre que esté en tus manos hacerlo.	27 Refuse no kindness to those who have a right to it, if it is in your power to perform it.
28 No digas a tu prójimo: «Vuelve después, mañana te daré», si tienes con qué ayudarlo.	28 Do not say to your neighbour, 'Go away! Come another time! I will give it you tomorrow,' if you can do itnow.
29 No trames el mal contra tu prójimo, mientras vive confiado junto a ti.	29 Do not plot harm against your neighbour who is living unsuspecting beside you.
30 No litigues con un hombre sin motivo, si no te ha causado ningún mal.	30 Do not pick a groundless quarrel with anyone who has done you no harm.
31 No envidies al hombre violento ni elijas ninguno de sus caminos.	31 Do not envy the man of violence, never model your conduct on his;
32 Porque el hombre perverso es abominable para el Señor, y él reserva su intimidad para los rectos.	32 for the wilful wrong-doer is abhorrent to Yahweh, who confides only in the honest.
33 La maldición del Señor está en la casa del malvado, pero él bendice la morada de los justos.	33 Yahweh's curse lies on the house of the wicked, but he blesses the home of the upright.
34 El se burla de los insolentes y concede su favor a los humildes.	34 He mocks those who mock, but accords his favour to the humble.
35 Los sabios heredarán la gloria, pero los necios cargarán con la ignominia.	35 Glory is the portion of the wise, all that fools inherit is contempt.
