BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 - Il figlio saggio rallegrerà il padre, ma il figlio stolto è l'afflizione di sua madre.	1 The proverbs of Solomon. A wise child is a father's joy, a foolish child a mother's grief.
2 I tesori dell'empietà a nulla giovarono, ma la giustizia scamperà dalla morte.	2 Treasures wickedly come by give no benefit, but uprightness brings delivery from death.
3 Il Signore non affliggerà con la fame l'anima del giusto, ma manderà a rovescio le insidie degli empi.	3 Yahweh does not let the upright go hungry, but he thwarts the greed of the wicked.
4 La mano oziosa ha fatto impoverire e la mano dei laboriosi prepara la ricchezza. Chi si appoggia sulle menzogne pasce i venti, egli pure insegue uccelli che volano.	4 A slack hand brings poverty, but the hand of the diligent brings wealth.
5 Chi raccoglie durante la mèsse è un figlio giudizioso, chi poltrisce nella state è un figlio che fa vergogna.	5 Reaping at harvest-time is the mark of the prudent, sleeping at harvest-time is the sign of theworthless.
6 La benedizione del Signore sul capo del giusto, ma la bocca dei malvagi iniquità ricopre.	6 Blessings are on the head of the upright, but the mouth of the godless is a cover for violence.
7 La memoria del giusto è in benedizione e il nome degli empi marcirà.	7 The upright is remembered with blessings, the name of the wicked rots away.
8 Chi è saggio di cuore riceve gli ammonimenti, e lo stolto per ogni parola s'offende.	8 The wise of heart takes orders, but a gabbling fool heads for ruin.
9 Chi cammina con semplicità cammina con confidenza, e chi procede per vie oblique sarà scoperto.	9 Anyone whose ways are honourable walks secure, but whoever fol ows crooked ways is soonunmasked.
10 Chi ammicca coll'occhio fa dispiacere, e lo stolto dalle sue labbra sarà percosso.	10 A wink of the eye brings trouble, a bold rebuke brings peace.
11 Una sorgente di vita è la bocca del giusto, e la bocca dei malvagi iniquità ricopre.	11 The mouth of the upright is a life-giving fountain, but the mouth of the godless is a cover for violence.
12 L'odio suscita le contese, e la carità su tutte le colpe stende il suo velo.	12 Hatred provokes disputes, but love excuses al offences.
13 Sulle labbra dell'intelligente la sapienza si trova, e la sferza sul dosso dell'insensato.	13 On the lips of the discerning is found wisdom, on the back of a fool, the stick.
14 I saggi nascondono la scienza, e la bocca degli stolti è prossima alla confusione.	14 Wise people store up knowledge, but the mouth of a fool makes ruin imminent.
15 Le sostanze del ricco sono la sua città forte, sgomento dei poveri è la lor povertà.	15 The wealth of the rich is their stronghold, poverty is the undoing of the weak.
16 L'opera del giusto è per la vita, il guadagno dell'empio pel peccato.	16 The wage of the upright affords life, but sin is al the wicked earns.
17 Chi fa tesoro degli ammonimenti è sulla via della vita; e chi lascia le correzioni è fuor di strada.	17 Whoever abides by discipline, walks towards life, whoever ignores correction goes astray.
18 Le labbra menzognere nascondono odio; chi proferisce villanie è uno scemo.	18 Liars' lips are a cover for hatred, whoever utters slander is a fool.
19 Dove molto si ciarla la colpa non mancherà, ma chi modera le sue labbra è prudentissimo.	19 A flood of words is never without fault; whoever controls the lips is wise.
20 Argento fino è la lingua del giusto, e il cuore degli empi non vale niente.	20 The tongue of the upright is purest silver, the heart of the wicked is of trumpery value.
21 Le labbra del giusto istruiscono molti, ma gl'insipienti morranno senza aver messo senno.	21 The lips of the upright nourish many peoples, but fools die for want of sense.
22 La benedizione del Signore fa gli uomini ricchi, e affanno non li accompagnerà.	22 The blessing of Yahweh is what brings riches, to this, hard toil has nothing to add.
23 Lo stolto fa il male quasi per giuoco, ma la sapienza serve all'uomo di discernimento.	23 A fool takes pleasure in doing wrong, the intel igent in cultivating wisdom.
24 Ciò che l'empio teme gli sopravverrà, e ai giusti si accorderà il loro desiderio.	24 What the wicked fears overtakes him, what the upright desires comes to him as a present.
25 Come passa la burrasca, così svanisce l'empio, ma il giusto è come un fondamento perenne.	25 When the storm is over, the wicked is no more, but the upright stands firm for ever.
26 Come l'aceto ai denti, come il fumo agli occhi, così il pigro a quei che gli hanno dato commissioni.	26 As vinegar to the teeth, smoke to the eyes, so the sluggard to the one who sends him.
27 Il timor di Dio aggiunge giorni, ma gli anni degli empi saranno accorciati.	27 The fear of Yahweh adds length to life, the years of the wicked wil be cut short.
28 L'aspettazione de' giusti è la gioia, ma la speranza degli empi andrà perduta.	28 The hope of the upright is joy, the expectations of the wicked come to nothing.
29 Le vie del Signore sono la forza dell'innocente e lo sgomento dei malfattori.	29 The way of Yahweh is a rampart for the honest, for evil-doers nothing but ruin.
30 Il giusto non sarà scosso in eterno, ma gli empi non avranno dimora sulla terra.	30 The upright wil never have to give way, but the land wil offer no home for the wicked.
31 La bocca del giusto germinerà la sapienza, ma la lingua dei malvagi perirà.	31 The mouth of the upright utters wisdom, the tongue that deceives wil be cut off.
32 Le labbra del giusto tengono in conto le cose gradevoli, e la bocca degli empi le perverse.	32 The lips of the upright know about kindness, the mouth of the wicked about deceit.
