Psalms 7

1 A Psalm of David, which he sang to the Lord because of the words of Cush, the son of Jemini.	1 Lamento di Davide che egli cantò al Signore a causa del beniaminita Cus.
2 O Lord, my God, in you I have hoped. Save me from all those who persecute me, and free me:	2 Signore mio Dio, in te mi rifugio; salvami da quanti m'inseguono e liberami,
3 lest at any time, like a lion, he might seize my soul, while there is no one to redeem me, nor any who can save.	3 perché non sbrani qual leone l'anima mia, la strappi via e non c'è chi soccorra.
4 O Lord, my God, if there is iniquity in my hands, if I have done this:	4 Signore mio Dio, se un'indegnità io avessi commesso, se vi fosse ingiustizia nelle mie mani,
5 if I have repaid those who rendered evils to me, may I deservedly fall away empty before my enemies:	5 se avessi ripagato con il male il mio alleato e risparmiato senza ragione il mio nemico,
6 let the enemy pursue my soul, and take hold of it, and trample my life into the earth, and drag down my glory into the dust.	6 m'insegua allora il mio nemico e mi raggiunga e getti nella polvere il mio onore.
7 Rise up, Lord, in your anger. And be exalted to the borders of my enemies. And rise up, O Lord my God, according to the precept that you commanded,	7 Sorgi, Signore, nella tua ira; lèvati contro l'arroganza dei miei avversari; déstati, o mio Dio: disponi il giudizio;
8 and a congregation of people will surround you. And, because of this, return on high.	8 circondato dall'assemblea dei popoli, su di essa con maestà presiedi. Il Signore giudica i popoli.
9 The Lord judges the people. Judge me, O Lord, according to my justice and according to my innocence within me.	9 Giudicami, o Signore, secondo la tua giustizia e secondo la mia innocenza, o Eccelso...
10 The wickedness of sinners will be consumed, and you will direct the just: the examiner of hearts and temperaments is God.	10 Giunga a termine la malizia degli empi; ma tu rendi stabile il giusto, poiché scrutatore dei reni e dei cuori è il giusto Dio.
11 Just is my help from the Lord, who saves the upright of heart.	11 Il mio scudo è il Dio eccelso, colui che salva i retti di cuore;
12 God is a just judge, strong and patient. How could he be angry throughout every day?	12 Dio è un giudice giusto, è un Dio che si adira ogni giorno.
13 Unless you will be converted, he will brandish his sword. He has extended his bow and made it ready.	13 Non torna egli forse ad affilarsi la spada? Ha teso e puntato il suo arco.
14 And with it, he has prepared instruments of death. He has produced his arrows for those on fire.	14 Per sé ha preparato strumenti di morte, facendo roventi i suoi dardi.
15 Behold him who has given birth to injustice: he has conceived sorrow and has begotten iniquity.	15 Ecco, l'empio concepisce iniquità, porta in seno nequizia e genera inganno.
16 He has opened a pit and enlarged it. And he has fallen into the hole that he made.	16 Un pozzo ha intagliato e ha scavato ed è caduto nella fossa che faceva.
17 His sorrow will be turned upon his own head, and his iniquity will descend upon his highest point.	17 Ricade la sua nequizia sulla sua testa e sul suo capo la sua violenza discende.
18 I will confess to the Lord according to his justice, and I will sing a psalm to the name of the Lord Most High.	18 Voglio celebrare il Signore secondo la sua giustizia e voglio cantare il nome del Signore altissimo.
