2 O Lord, my God, in you I have hoped. Save me from all those who persecute me, and free me:	2 Herr, mein Gott, ich flüchte mich zu dir; hilf mir vor allen Verfolgern und rette mich,
3 lest at any time, like a lion, he might seize my soul, while there is no one to redeem me, nor any who can save.	3 damit mir niemand wie ein Löwe das Leben raubt, mich zerreißt, und keiner ist da, der mich rettet.
4 O Lord, my God, if there is iniquity in my hands, if I have done this:	4 Wenn ich das getan habe, Herr, mein Gott, wenn an meinen Händen Unrecht klebt,
5 if I have repaid those who rendered evils to me, may I deservedly fall away empty before my enemies:	5 wenn ich meinem Freunde Böses tat, wenn ich den quälte, der mich grundlos bedrängt hat,
6 let the enemy pursue my soul, and take hold of it, and trample my life into the earth, and drag down my glory into the dust.	6 dann soll mich der Feind verfolgen und ergreifen; er richte mein Leben zugrunde und trete meine Ehre mit Füßen. [Sela]
7 Rise up, Lord, in your anger. And be exalted to the borders of my enemies. And rise up, O Lord my God, according to the precept that you commanded,	7 Herr, steh auf in deinem Zorn, erheb dich gegen meine wütenden Feinde! Wach auf, du mein Gott! Du hast zum Gericht gerufen. Der Herr richtet die Völker.
8 and a congregation of people will surround you. And, because of this, return on high.	8 Um dich stehe die Schar der Völker im Kreis; über ihnen throne du in der Höhe!
9 The Lord judges the people. Judge me, O Lord, according to my justice and according to my innocence within me.	9 Herr, weil ich gerecht bin, verschaff mir Recht (und tu an mir Gutes), weil ich schuldlos bin!
10 The wickedness of sinners will be consumed, and you will direct the just: the examiner of hearts and temperaments is God.	10 Die Bosheit der Frevler finde ein Ende, doch gib dem Gerechten Bestand, gerechter Gott, der du auf Herz und Nieren prüfst.
11 Just is my help from the Lord, who saves the upright of heart.	11 Ein Schild über mir ist Gott, er rettet die Menschen mit redlichem Herzen.
12 God is a just judge, strong and patient. How could he be angry throughout every day?	12 Gott ist ein gerechter Richter, ein Gott, der täglich strafen kann.
13 Unless you will be converted, he will brandish his sword. He has extended his bow and made it ready.	13 Wenn der Frevler sein Schwert wieder schärft, seinen Bogen spannt und zielt,
14 And with it, he has prepared instruments of death. He has produced his arrows for those on fire.	14 dann rüstet er tödliche Waffen gegen sich selbst, bereitet sich glühende Pfeile.
15 Behold him who has given birth to injustice: he has conceived sorrow and has begotten iniquity.	15 Er hat Böses im Sinn; er geht schwanger mit Unheil und Tücke gebiert er.
16 He has opened a pit and enlarged it. And he has fallen into the hole that he made.	16 Er gräbt ein Loch, er schaufelt es aus, doch er stürzt in die Grube, die er selber gemacht hat.
17 His sorrow will be turned upon his own head, and his iniquity will descend upon his highest point.	17 Seine Untat kommt auf sein eigenes Haupt, seine Gewalttat fällt auf seinen Scheitel zurück.
18 I will confess to the Lord according to his justice, and I will sing a psalm to the name of the Lord Most High.	18 Ich will dem Herrn danken, denn er ist gerecht; dem Namen des Herrn, des Höchsten, will ich singen und spielen.
