Proverbios 28

EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 El malvado huye sin que nadie lo persiga. pero el justo está seguro como un cachorro de león.	1 The wicked man flees although no one pursues him; but the just man, like a lion, feels sure of himself.
2 Cuando hay rebelión en un país, son muchos sus jefes; con un hombre inteligente y experto, reina la estabilidad.	2 If a land is rebellious, its princes will be many; but with a prudent man it knows security.
3 Hombre pobre que explota a los débiles es como lluvia torrencial que deja sin pan.	3 A rich man who oppresses the poor is like a devastating rain that leaves no food.
4 Los que abandonan la Ley elogian al malvado, los que la observan se indignan contra él.	4 Those who abandon the law praise the wicked man, but those who keep the law war against him.
5 Los malvados no entienden lo que es recto, los que buscan al Señor lo entienden todo.	5 Evil men understand nothing of justice, but those who seek the LORD understand all.
6 Más vale un pobre que camina con integridad que un rico de caminos tortuosos.	6 Better a poor man who walks in his integrity than he who is crooked in his ways and rich.
7 El que observa la Ley es un hombre inteligente, el que frecuenta a los libertinos deshonra a su padre.	7 He who keeps the law is a wise son, but the gluttons' companion disgraces his father.
8 El que acrecienta su fortuna con usura e interés la acumula para el que se compadece de los pobres.	8 He who increases his wealth by interest and overcharge gathers it for him who is kind to the poor.
9 Si uno aparta su oído para no oír la Ley, hasta su plegaria es una abominación.	9 When one turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.
10 El que extravía a los rectos por el mal camino caerá él mismo en su propia fosa, pero los hombres íntegros heredarán la felicidad.	10 He who seduces the upright into an evil way will himself fall into his own pit. (And blameless men will gain prosperity.)
11 El hombre rico se tiene por sabio, pero el pobre inteligente lo conoce a fondo.	11 The rich man is wise in his own eyes, but a poor man who is intelligent sees through him.
12 Cuando triunfan los justos, hay gran fiesta; cuando se imponen los malvados, todos se esconden.	12 When the just are triumphant, there is great jubilation; but when the wicked gain preeminence, people hide.
13 El que encubre sus delitos no prosperará, pero el que los confiesa y abandona, obtendrá misericordia.	13 He who conceals his sins prospers not, but he who confesses and forsakes them obtains mercy.
14 Feliz el hombre que siempre teme al Señor, pero el obstinado caerá en la desgracia.	14 Happy the man who is always on his guard; but he who hardens his heart will fall into evil.
15 León rugiente y oso hambriento es el malvado que domina a un pueblo débil.	15 Like a roaring lion or a ravenous bear is a wicked ruler over a poor people.
16 Un príncipe sin inteligencia multiplica las extorsiones, pero el que detesta el lucro prolongará sus días.	16 The less prudent the prince, the more his deeds oppress. He who hates ill-gotten gain prolongs his days.
17 El hombre cargado con la sangre de otro huirá hasta el sepulcro: ¡que nadie lo detenga!	17 Though a man burdened with human blood were to flee to the grave, none should support him.
18 El que camina con integridad se salvará, el que va tortuosamente por dos caminos, cae en uno de ellos.	18 He who walks uprightly is safe, but he whose ways are crooked falls into the pit.
19 El que cultiva su suelo se saciará de pan, el que persigue quimeras se hartará de pobreza.	19 He who cultivates his land will have plenty of food, but from idle pursuits a man has his fill of poverty.
20 El hombre sincero será colmado de bendiciones, el que quiere hacerse rico de golpe no quedará impune.	20 The trustworthy man will be richly blessed; he who is in haste to grow rich will not go unpunished.
21 No está bien hacer acepción de personas, pero un hombre se vuelve venal por un bocado de pan.	21 To show partiality is never good: for even a morsel of bread a man may do wrong.
22 El malicioso corre detrás de la fortuna, sin saber que le sobrevendrá la indigencia.	22 The avaricious man is perturbed about his wealth, and he knows not when want will come upon him.
23 El que reprende a otro será al fin más estimado que el hombre de lengua aduladora.	23 He who rebukes a man gets more thanks in the end than one with a flattering tongue.
24 El que despoja a su padre y a su madre y dice: «Esto no es una falta», es compañero del que destruye.	24 He who defrauds father or mother and calls it no sin, is a partner of the brigand.
25 El hombre ambicioso siembra discordias, el que confía en el Señor tendrá prosperidad.	25 The greedy man stirs up disputes, but he who trusts in the LORD will prosper.
26 El que se fía de sí mismo es un insensato, el que procede sabiamente se salvará.	26 He who trusts in himself is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom is safe.
27 El que da al pobre no conocerá la indigencia, pero al que cierra los ojos lo llenarán de maldiciones.	27 He who gives to the poor suffers no want, but he who ignores them gets many a curse.
28 Cuando triunfan los malvados, todos se esconden; cuando desaparecen, se multiplican los justos.	28 When the wicked gain pre-eminence, other men hide; but at their fall the just flourish.
