Proverbi 18

LA SACRA BIBBIA	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 Segue il suo piacere colui che si separa; dell'altrui parere egli si beffa.	1 Whoever has a will to withdraw from a friend, seeks occasions; he shall be reproached at all times.
2 Lo stolto non ama aver la scienza, ma far mostra di avere intelligenza.	2 The foolish do not accept words of prudence, unless you say what is already turning in his heart.
3 Quando viene l'empietà viene anche il disprezzo e con la turpitudine l'obbrobrio.	3 The impious, when he has arrived within the depths of sin, thinks little of it. But ill repute and disgrace follow him.
4 Acque profonde son le parole che pronuncia l'uomo, torrente straripante è la fonte di saggezza.	4 Words from the mouth of a man are deep waters. And the fountain of wisdom is a torrent overflowing.
5 Favorire l'empio non è bene, per ostacolare il giusto nel giudizio.	5 It is not good to accept the character of the impious, so as to turn away from true judgment.
6 Le labbra dello stolto portano alla lite e la sua bocca gli procura i colpi.	6 The lips of the foolish meddle in disputes. And his mouth provokes conflicts.
7 La bocca dello stolto è la sua rovina, le sue labbra sono un laccio alla sua vita.	7 The mouth of the foolish is his destruction, and his own lips are the ruin of his soul.
8 Le parole del denigratore sono come bocconi deliziosi, che scendono fino al fondo delle viscere.	8 The words of the double-tongued seem simple. And they reach even to the interior of the gut. Fear casts down the lazy, but the souls of the effeminate shall go hungry.
9 Chi si mostra negligente nel lavoro, costui è fratello di chi lo vuol distruggere.	9 Whoever is dissolute and slack in his work is the brother of him who wastes his own works.
10 Una fortezza è il nome del Signore; a lui ricorre il giusto ed è al sicuro.	10 The name of the Lord is very strong tower. The just one rushes to it, and he shall be exalted.
11 La fortuna del ricco è la sua fortezza; un alto muro nella sua opinione.	11 The substance of the wealthy is the city of his strength, and it is like a strong wall encircling him.
12 Prima della sua rovina s'innalza il cuor dell'uomo, prima della gloria c'è l'umiliazione.	12 The heart of a man is exalted before it is crushed and humbled before it is glorified.
13 Chi risponde prima di ascoltare è stoltezza per lui e confusione.	13 Whoever responds before he listens, demonstrates himself to be foolish and deserving of confusion.
14 Lo spirito dell'uomo sostiene la sua fragilità; lo spirito abbattuto chi lo rialzerà?	14 The spirit of a man sustains his weakness. Yet who can sustain a spirit that is easily angered?
15 Un cuore intelligente acquista conoscenza e l'orecchio dei saggi cerca la scienza.	15 A prudent heart shall possess knowledge. And the ear of the wise seeks doctrine.
16 Il dono dell'uomo tutto gli spalanca e alla presenza dei grandi lo conduce.	16 A man’s gift expands his way and makes space for him before leaders.
17 Si dà ragione al primo in una lite, ma viene il suo avversario e lo contesta.	17 The just is the first accuser of himself; his friend arrives and shall investigate him.
18 La sorte mette fine alle contese e tra i potenti dà una decisione.	18 Casting a lot suppresses contentions and passes judgment, even among the powerful.
19 Un fratello aiutato da un fratello è come una fortezza; gli amici come il catenaccio di un castello.	19 A brother who is helped by a brother is like a reinforced city, and judgments are like the bars of cities.
20 Col lavoro della bocca si sazia lo stomaco dell'uomo; col frutto delle sue labbra si soddisfa.	20 From the fruit of a man’s mouth shall his belly be filled. And the harvest of his own lips shall satisfy him.
21 Morte e vita sono in potere della lingua; chi ne sa fare uso ne assaggerà il frutto.	21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue. Whoever values it shall eat from its fruits.
22 Chi ha trovato una sposa ha trovato un tesoro; ha ottenuto una grazia dal Signore.	22 He who has found a good wife has found goodness, and he shall draw contentment from the Lord. He who expels a good wife expels goodness. But he who holds on to an adulteress is foolish and impious.
23 Il povero parla supplicando, il ricco invece risponde con durezza.	23 The poor will speak with supplications. And the rich will express themselves roughly.
24 Ci sono amici che mandano in rovina ma c'è l'amico più caro di un fratello.	24 A man amiable to society shall be more friendly than a brother.
