¹ They therefore sent messengers to him to sue for peace in these words:	¹ Alors on lui envoya des messagers pour demander la paix:
² "We, the servants of Nebuchadnezzar the great king, lie prostrate before you; do with us as you will.	² “Nous sommes les serviteurs de Nabukodonozor, le grand roi. Nous voici devant toi, fais de nous ce qu’il te plaira.
³ Our dwellings and all our wheat fields, our flocks and herds, and all our encampments are at your disposal; make use of them as you please.	³ Voici nos fermes, nos villages, tous nos champs de blé, nos brebis et nos bœufs, tous nos campements et leurs enclos; tout cela est à toi, fais-en ce que tu voudras.
⁴ Our cities and their inhabitants are also at your service; come and deal with them as you see fit."	⁴ Voici nos villes: leurs habitants sont tes esclaves. Viens, tu peux t’y présenter comme tu voudras.”
