1 They therefore sent messengers to him to sue for peace in these words:	1 και απεστειλαν προς αυτον αγγελους λογοις ειρηνικοις λεγοντες
2 "We, the servants of Nebuchadnezzar the great king, lie prostrate before you; do with us as you will.	2 ιδου ημεις οι παιδες ναβουχοδονοσορ βασιλεως μεγαλου παρακειμεθα ενωπιον σου χρησαι ημιν καθως αρεστον εστιν τω προσωπω σου
3 Our dwellings and all our wheat fields, our flocks and herds, and all our encampments are at your disposal; make use of them as you please.	3 ιδου αι επαυλεις ημων και πας τοπος ημων και παν πεδιον πυρων και τα ποιμνια και τα βουκολια και πασαι αι μανδραι των σκηνων ημων παρακεινται προ προσωπου σου χρησαι καθο αν αρεσκη σοι
4 Our cities and their inhabitants are also at your service; come and deal with them as you see fit."	4 ιδου και αι πολεις ημων και οι κατοικουντες εν αυταις δουλοι σοι εισιν ελθων απαντησον αυταις ως εστιν αγαθον εν οφθαλμοις σου
5 After the spokesmen had reached Holofernes and given him this message,	5 και παρεγενοντο οι ανδρες προς ολοφερνην και απηγγειλαν αυτω κατα τα ρηματα ταυτα
6 he went down with his army to the seacoast, and stationed garrisons in the fortified cities; from them he impressed picked troops as auxiliaries.	6 και κατεβη επι την παραλιαν αυτος και η δυναμις αυτου και εφρουρωσε τας πολεις τας υψηλας και ελαβεν εξ αυτων εις συμμαχιαν ανδρας επιλεκτους
7 The people of these cities and all the inhabitants of the countryside received him with garlands and dancing to the sound of timbrels.	7 και εδεξαντο αυτον αυτοι και πασα η περιχωρος αυτων μετα στεφανων και χορων και τυμπανων
8 Nevertheless, he devastated their whole territory and cut down their sacred groves, for he had been commissioned to destroy all the gods of the earth, so that every nation might worship Nebuchadnezzar alone, and every people and tribe invoke him as a god.	8 και κατεσκαψεν παντα τα ορια αυτων και τα αλση αυτων εξεκοψεν και ην δεδομενον αυτω εξολεθρευσαι παντας τους θεους της γης οπως αυτω μονω τω ναβουχοδονοσορ λατρευσωσι παντα τα εθνη και πασαι αι γλωσσαι και αι φυλαι αυτων επικαλεσωνται αυτον εις θεον
9 At length Holofernes reached Esdraelon in the neighborhood of Dothan, the approach to the main ridge of the Judean mountains;	9 και ηλθεν κατα προσωπον εσδρηλων πλησιον της δωταιας η εστιν απεναντι του πριονος του μεγαλου της ιουδαιας
10 he set up his camp between Geba and Scythopolis, and stayed there a whole month to refurbish all the equipment of his army.	10 και κατεστρατοπεδευσαν ανα μεσον γαιβαι και σκυθων πολεως και ην εκει μηνα ημερων εις το συλλεξαι πασαν την απαρτιαν της δυναμεως αυτου
