BIBBIA CEI 1974	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Nell'anno primo di Dario figlio di Serse, della progenie dei Medi, il quale era stato costituito re sopra il regno dei Caldei,	1 It was the first year of Darius son of Artaxerxes, a Mede by race who assumed the throne of Chaldaea.
2 nel primo anno del suo regno, io Daniele tentavo di comprendere nei libri il numero degli anni di cui il Signore aveva parlato al profeta Geremia e nei quali si dovevano compiere le desolazioni di Gerusalemme, cioè settant'anni.	2 In the first year of his reign I, Daniel, was studying the scriptures, counting over the number of years --as revealed by Yahweh to the prophet Jeremiah -- that were to pass before the desolation of Jerusalem wouldcome to an end, namely seventy years.
3 Mi rivolsi al Signore Dio per pregarlo e supplicarlo con il digiuno, veste di sacco e cenere	3 I turned my face to the Lord God begging for time to pray and to plead, with fasting, sackcloth andashes.
4 e feci la mia preghiera e la mia confessione al Signore mio Dio: "Signore Dio, grande e tremendo, che osservi l'alleanza e la benevolenza verso coloro che ti amano e osservano i tuoi comandamenti,	4 I pleaded with Yahweh my God and made this confession: 'O my Lord, God great and to be feared, youkeep the covenant and show faithful love towards those who love you and who observe your commandments:
5 abbiamo peccato e abbiamo operato da malvagi e da empi, siamo stati ribelli, ci siamo allontanati dai tuoi comandamenti e dalle tue leggi!	5 we have sinned, we have done wrong, we have acted wickedly, we have betrayed yourcommandments and rulings and turned away from them.
6 Non abbiamo obbedito ai tuoi servi, i profeti, i quali hanno in tuo nome parlato ai nostri re, ai nostri prìncipi, ai nostri padri e a tutto il popolo del paese.	6 We have not listened to your servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to our kings, our chiefmen, our ancestors and al people of the country.
7 A te conviene la giustizia, o Signore, a noi la vergogna sul volto, come avviene ancor oggi per gli uomini di Giuda, per gli abitanti di Gerusalemme e per tutto Israele, vicini e lontani, in tutti i paesi dove tu li hai dispersi per i misfatti che hanno commesso contro di te.	7 Saving justice, Lord, is yours; we have only the look of shame we wear today, we, the people of Judah,the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the whole of Israel, near and far away, in every country to which you havedispersed us because of the treachery we have committed against you.
8 Signore, la vergogna sul volto a noi, ai nostri re, ai nostri prìncipi, ai nostri padri, perché abbiamo peccato contro di te;	8 To us, our kings, our chief men and our ancestors, belongs the look of shame, O Yahweh, since wehave sinned against you.
9 al Signore Dio nostro la misericordia e il perdono, perché ci siamo ribellati contro di lui,	9 And it is for the Lord our God to have mercy and to pardon, since we have betrayed him,
10 non abbiamo ascoltato la voce del Signore Dio nostro, né seguito quelle leggi che egli ci aveva date per mezzo dei suoi servi, i profeti.	10 and have not listened to the voice of Yahweh our God nor fol owed the laws he has given us throughhis servants the prophets.
11 Tutto Israele ha trasgredito la tua legge, s'è allontanato per non ascoltare la tua voce; così si è riversata su di noi l'esecrazione scritta nella legge di Mosè, servo di Dio, perché abbiamo peccato contro di lui.	11 The whole of Israel has flouted your Law and turned away, unwil ing to listen to your voice; and thecurse and imprecation written in the Law of Moses, the servant of God, have come pouring down on us, becausewe have sinned against him.
12 Egli ha messo in atto quelle parole che aveva pronunziate contro di noi e i nostri governanti, mandando su di noi un male così grande quale mai, sotto il cielo, era venuto a Gerusalemme.	12 He has carried out the threats which he made against us and the chief men who governed us -- thathe would bring so great a disaster down on us that the fate of Jerusalem would find no paral el under al heaven.
13 Tutto questo male è venuto su di noi, proprio come sta scritto nella legge di Mosè. Tuttavia noi non abbiamo supplicato il Signore Dio nostro, convertendoci dalle nostre iniquità e seguendo la tua verità.	13 And now, as written in the Law of Moses, this whole calamity has befallen us; even so, we have notappeased Yahweh our God by renouncing our crimes and learning your truth.
14 Il Signore ha vegliato sopra questo male, l'ha mandato su di noi, poiché il Signore Dio nostro è giusto in tutte le cose che fa, mentre noi non abbiamo ascoltato la sua voce.	14 Yahweh has watched for the right moment to bring disaster on us, since Yahweh our God is just in allhis dealings with us, and we have not listened to his voice.
15 Signore Dio nostro, che hai fatto uscire il tuo popolo dall'Egitto con mano forte e ti sei fatto un nome, come è oggi, noi abbiamo peccato, abbiamo agito da empi.	15 And now, Lord our God, who by your mighty hand brought us out of Egypt -- the renown you won thenendures to this day -- we have sinned, we have done wrong.
16 Signore, secondo la tua misericordia, si plachi la tua ira e il tuo sdegno verso Gerusalemme, tua città, verso il tuo monte santo, poiché per i nostri peccati e per l'iniquità dei nostri padri Gerusalemme e il tuo popolo sono oggetto di vituperio presso quanti ci stanno intorno.	16 Lord, by al your acts of saving justice, turn away your anger and your fury from Jerusalem, your city,your holy mountain, for as a result of our sins and the crimes of our ancestors, Jerusalem and your people areobjects of scorn to al who surround us.
17 Ora ascolta, Dio nostro, la preghiera del tuo servo e le sue suppliche e per amor tuo, o Signore, fa' risplendere il tuo volto sopra il tuo santuario, che è desolato.	17 And now, our God, listen to the prayer and pleading of your servant. For your own sake, Lord, let yourface smile again on your desolate sanctuary.
18 Porgi l'orecchio, mio Dio, e ascolta: apri gli occhi e guarda le nostre desolazioni e la città sulla quale è stato invocato il tuo nome! Non presentiamo le nostre suppliche davanti a te, basate sulla nostra giustizia, ma sulla tua grande misericordia.	18 Listen, my God, listen to us; open your eyes and look at our plight and at the city that bears yourname. Relying not on our upright deeds but on your great mercy, we pour out our plea to you.
19 Signore, ascolta; Signore, perdona; Signore, guarda e agisci senza indugio, per amore di te stesso, mio Dio, poiché il tuo nome è stato invocato sulla tua città e sul tuo popolo".	19 Listen, Lord! Forgive, Lord! Hear, Lord, and act! For your own sake, my God, do not delay -- sinceyour city and your people alike bear your name.'
20 Mentre io stavo ancora parlando e pregavo e confessavo il mio peccato e quello del mio popolo Israele e presentavo la supplica al Signore Dio mio per il monte santo del mio Dio,	20 I was stil speaking, still at prayer, confessing my own sins and the sins of my people Israel, andplacing my plea before Yahweh my God for the holy mountain of my God,
21 mentre dunque parlavo e pregavo, Gabriele, che io avevo visto prima in visione, volò veloce verso di me: era l'ora dell'offerta della sera.	21 still speaking, still at prayer, when Gabriel, the being I had originally seen in vision, swooped on me inful flight at the hour of the evening sacrifice.
22 Egli mi rivolse questo discorso: "Daniele, sono venuto per istruirti e farti comprendere.	22 He came, he spoke, he said to me, 'Now, Daniel; I have come down to teach you how to understand.
23 Fin dall'inizio delle tue suppliche è uscita una parola e io sono venuto per annunziartela, poiché tu sei un uomo prediletto. Ora sta' attento alla parola e comprendi la visione:	23 When your pleading began, a word was uttered, and I have come to tel you. You are a man speciallychosen. Grasp the meaning of the word, understand the vision:
24 Settanta settimane sono fissate per il tuo popolo e per la tua santa città per mettere fine all'empietà, mettere i sigilli ai peccati, espiare l'iniquità, portare una giustizia eterna, suggellare visione e profezia e ungere il Santo dei santi.	24 'Seventy weeks are decreed for your people and your holy city, for putting an end to transgression, forplacing the seal on sin, for expiating crime, for introducing everlasting uprightness for setting the seal on visionand on prophecy, for anointing the holy of holies.
25 Sappi e intendi bene, da quando uscì la parola sul ritorno e la ricostruzione di Gerusalemme fino a un principe consacrato, vi saranno sette settimane. Durante sessantadue settimane saranno restaurati, riedificati piazze e fossati, e ciò in tempi angosciosi.	25 Know this, then, and understand: From the time there went out this message: "Return and rebuildJerusalem" to the coming of an Anointed Prince, seven weeks and sixty-two weeks, with squares and rampartsrestored and rebuilt, but in a time of trouble.
26 Dopo sessantadue settimane, un consacrato sarà soppresso senza colpa in lui; il popolo di un principe che verrà distruggerà la città e il santuario; la sua fine sarà un'inondazione e, fino alla fine, guerra e desolazioni decretate.	26 And after the sixty-two weeks an Anointed One put to death without his . . . city and sanctuary ruinedby a prince who is to come. The end of that prince wil be catastrophe and, until the end, there wil be war and althe devastation decreed.
27 Egli stringerà una forte alleanza con molti per una settimana e, nello spazio di metà settimana, farà cessare il sacrificio e l'offerta; sull'ala del tempio porrà l'abominio della desolazione e ciò sarà sino alla fine, fino al termine segnato sul devastatore".	27 He wil strike a firm al iance with many people for the space of a week; and for the space of one half-week he wil put a stop to sacrifice and oblation, and on the wing of the Temple will be the appal ing abominationuntil the end, until the doom assigned to the devastator.'
