Proverbi 11

LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 Una bilancia falsa è un obbrobrio per il Signore, un peso esatto invece è il suo diletto.	1 False scales are an abomination to the LORD, but a full weight is his delight.
2 Dove c'è orgoglio c'è anche il disonore, con gli umili invece c'è la saggezza.	2 When pride comes, disgrace comes; but with the humble is wisdom.
3 La loro integrità conduce i giusti, ma la perversità rovina i perfidi.	3 The honesty of the upright guides them; the faithless are ruined by their duplicity.
4 Non giova la ricchezza nel giorno della collera, invece la giustizia libera dalla morte.	4 Wealth is useless on the day of wrath, but virtue saves from death.
5 La giustizia spiana la via all'uomo integro, ma l'empio cade nella sua empietà.	5 The honest man's virtue makes his way straight, but by his wickedness the wicked man falls.
6 La propria giustizia salva gli uomini retti, ma nella loro brama son presi i perfidi.	6 The virtue of the upright saves them, but the faithless are caught in their own intrigue.
7 Con la morte dell'empio finisce la sua speranza, l'attesa dei perversi è annientata.	7 When a wicked man dies his hope perishes, and what is expected from strength comes to nought.
8 Il giusto è liberato dall'angoscia, l'empio invece vi cade al suo posto.	8 The just man escapes trouble, and the wicked man falls into it in his stead.
9 Con la sua bocca l'empio manda in rovina il prossimo, ma con la scienza i giusti si districano.	9 With his mouth the impious man would ruin his neighbor, but through their knowledge the just make their escape.
10 Per il benessere dei giusti la città gioisce, ma per la rovina degli empi manda grida di giubilo.	10 When the just prosper, the city rejoices; and when the wicked perish, there is jubilation.
11 Per la benedizione degli uomini retti una città prospera, ma per la bocca degli empi va in rovina.	11 Through the blessing of the righteous the city is exalted, but through the mouth of the wicked it is overthrown.
12 Chi disprezza il prossimo è povero di senno, l'uomo intelligente invece sa tacere.	12 He who reviles his neighbor has no sense, but the intelligent man keeps silent.
13 Chi va gironzolando svela i suoi segreti, ma la persona fidata cela quanto sa.	13 A newsmonger reveals secrets, but a trustworthy man keeps a confidence.
14 Senza governo un popolo decade, il benessere dipende dai molti consiglieri.	14 For lack of guidance a people falls; security lies in many counselors.
15 Di certo ne è responsabile chi garantisce un forestiero, chi rifiuta garanzie invece è al sicuro.	15 He is in a bad way who becomes surety for another, but he who hates giving pledges is safe.
16 Una donna benefica si acquista fama, uomini energici acquistano ricchezza.	16 A gracious woman wins esteem, but she who hates virtue is covered with shame. (The slothful become impoverished, but the diligent gain wealth.)
17 Arricchisce se stesso l'uomo benevolo, tortura invece il proprio corpo l'uomo crudele.	17 A kindly man benefits himself, but a merciless man harms himself.
18 L'empio si affanna per un salario insicuro, ma per chi semina la giustizia la ricompensa è certa.	18 The wicked man makes empty profits, but he who sows virture has a sure reward.
19 Chi consolida la giustizia è destinato alla vita, ma chi persegue il male è destinato alla morte.	19 Virtue directs toward life, but he who pursues evil does so to his death.
20 Sono abominio del Signore i tortuosi di mente, ma son sua delizia quelli di vita integra.	20 The depraved in heart are an abomination to the LORD, but those who walk blamelessly are his delight.
21 Sicuramente il cattivo non resterà impunito, la stirpe dei giusti invece sarà salva.	21 Truly the evil man shall not go unpunished, but those who are just shall escape.
22 Anello d'oro al muso di un maiale una donna bella, ma senza cervello.	22 Like a golden ring in a swine's snout is a beautiful woman with a rebellious disposition.
23 Desiderio dei giusti è solo il bene, ma la speranza degli empi è la rovina.	23 The desire of the just ends only in good; the expectation of the wicked is wrath.
24 Uno largheggia e arricchisce ancora, uno risparmia oltre misura e solo impoverisce.	24 One man is lavish yet grows still richer; another is too sparing, yet is the poorer.
25 L'anima benefica sempre si arricchisce e chi innaffia viene innaffiato.	25 He who confers benefits will be amply enriched, and he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.
26 Chi accaparra frumento lo maledice il popolo, ma la benedizione è sopra chi lo vende.	26 Him who monopolizes grain, the people curse-- but blessings upon the head of him who distributes it!
27 Chi è sollecito nel bene trova compiacenza, ma chi cerca il male, il male lo raggiunge.	27 He who seeks the good commands favor, but he who pursues evil will have evil befall him.
28 Chi confida nella sua ricchezza, costui rovina, ma come germoglio i giusti sbocceranno.	28 He who trusts in his riches will fall, but like green leaves the just flourish.
29 Chi mette scompiglio in casa propria, il vento è la sua sorte e lo stolto divien servo del saggio di mente.	29 He who upsets his household has empty air for a heritage; and the fool will become slave to the wise man.
30 Il frutto del giusto è l'albero di vita, un conquistator di anime è il saggio.	30 The fruit of virtue is a tree of life, but violence takes lives away.
31 Se il giusto è ricompensato sulla terra, tanto più lo è l'empio e il peccatore.	31 If the just man is punished on earth, how much more the wicked and the sinner!
