BIBBIA TINTORI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Allora Giobbe, presa la parola, disse;	1 Job spoke next. He said:
2 « Ascoltate, ve ne prego, le mie parole, e mutate sentimenti.	2 Listen careful y to my words; let this be the consolation you allow me.
3 Permettetemi di parlare, e quando avrò detto, se vi parrà, ridete pure delle mie parole.	3 Permit me to speak in my turn; you may jeer when I have spoken.
4 E' forse contro un uomo la mia disputa, chè io non abbia ragione di rattristarmi?	4 Is my complaint just about a fellow-mortal? I have good grounds to be perturbed!
5 Guardatemi, e, allibiti, ponete il dito alla vostra bocca.	5 Give your attention to me; you wil be dumbfounded and wil place your hand over your mouth.
6 Io al sol pensarci son preso dallo spavento, un tremito agita la mia carne.	6 I myself am appalled at the very thought, and my flesh creeps.
7 Come mai vivono gli empi, e sono innalzati e resi potenti dalle ricchezze?	7 Why do the wicked stil live on, their power increasing with their age?
8 Una prospera progenie li circonda, una turba di parenti e di nipoti sta alla loro presenza.	8 They see their posterity assured, and their offspring secure before their eyes.
9 Le loro case son tranquille e al sicuro, e la verga di Dio non li tocca.	9 The peace of their houses has nothing to fear, the rod that God wields is not for them.
10 I loro bovi fan concepire senza aborti, le loro vacche mettono alla luce e non va loro a male un parto.	10 No mishap with their bull at breeding-time, nor miscarriage with their cow at calving.
11 I loro fanciulli escon fuori come greggi, i loro ragazzi saltano e si divertono.	11 They let their infants frisk like lambs, their children dance like deer.
12 Portano in mano il tamburo e la cetra, si rallegrano al suon degli strumenti.	12 They sing to the tambourine and harp, and rejoice to the sound of the pipe.
13 passano nella felicità i loro giorni, e in un momento scendono nel sepolcro.	13 They end their lives in happiness and go down in peace to Sheol.
14 Essi, che dissero a Dio: Allontanati da noi: non vogliamo saperne delle tue vie.	14 Yet these are the ones who say to God, 'Go away! We do not want to learn your ways.
15 Chi è l'Onnipotente che dobbiamo servirlo? Che guadagneremo a pregarlo?	15 What is the point of our serving Shaddai? What should we gain from praying to him?'
16 Ma siccome i loro beni non sono in loro mano, lungi da me il consiglio degli empi.	16 Surely they have won their own prosperity, since God is kept so far from their plans?
17 Quante volte si spegnerà la lucerna degli empi, e piomberà sopra di essi la rovina, e (Dio) nell'ira sua distribuirà loro i dolori?	17 Do we often see the light of the wicked put out, or disaster overtake him, or the retribution of Goddestroy his possessions,
18 Saran come paglia al vento, come cenere che il turbine disperde.	18 or the wind blow him away like a straw, or a whirlwind carry him off like chaff?
19 Dio serberà ai figli i castighi del padre. Invece egli dovrebbe imparare dal castigo,	19 So God is storing up punishment for his children? But the wicked himself should be punished, andshould know it!
20 Ì suoi occhi dovrebbero veder la sua rovina, egli dovrebbe bere il furore dell'Ònnipotente.	20 He himself should witness his own ruin, and himself drink the anger of Shaddai.
21 Che gl'importa infatti della sua casa dopo di lui, quand'anche il numero dei suoi mesi fosse dimezzato?	21 Once he is gone, what joy can he gain from his family, once the number of his months has been cutoff?
22 Chi pretenderà d'insegnare la scienza a Dio, il quale giudica i celesti?	22 But who can teach wisdom to God, to him who is judge of those on high?
23 Uno muore robusto e sano, e ricco e felice;	23 And again: one person dies in the ful ness of strength, in all possible happiness and ease,
24 le sue viscere son piene di grasso, le sue ossa sono irrigate di midollo.	24 thighs padded with fat and the marrow in the bones good and moist.
25 Un'altro invece muore coll'amarezza nell'anima, senza beni di fortuna.	25 Another dies in bitterness of heart, never having tasted happiness.
26 Eppure giaceranno ugualmente nella polvere, e i vermi li copriranno.	26 They lie together down in the dust and the worms soon cover them both.
27 Io però conosco bene i vostri pensieri, i giudizi iniqui che mi opponete,	27 Oh, I know what is in your minds, what you so spiteful y think about me!
28 infatti voi dite: Dov'è la casa del principe? Dove sono le tende degli empi?	28 'What has become of the great lord's house,' you say, 'where is the tent where the wicked used tolive?'
29 Domandatene a chiunque volete dei viaggiatori, e sentirete che egli sa bene queste cose:	29 Have you never questioned people who travel, do you not understand the testimony they give:
30 che l'empio è riservato pel giorno della vendetta, e sarà condotto al giorno del furore.	30 on the day of disaster, the wicked is spared, on the day of retribution, he is kept safe?
31 Chi gli rimprovererà in faccia il suo modo di agire? Chi gli renderà quanto si merita?	31 And who is there then to reproach him for his deeds and to pay him back for the things he has done?
32 Egli sarà condotto al sepolcro, e veglierà, tra la turba dei morti:	32 He is carried away to the cemetery, and a watch is kept at his tomb.
33 gradito alla ghiaia del Cocito, trascinerà dietro a, sè tutti gli uomini e davanti a sè una turba innumerevole.	33 The clods of the ravine lie easy on him, and the whole population walk behind.
34 A che state a darmi vane consolazioni se è chiaro che la vostra risposta, ripugna alla verità? »	34 So what sense is there in your empty consolation? your answers are the left-overs of infidelity!
