1 John 3

1 See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him.	1 Guardate quale immenso amore ci ha donato il Padre, così che siamo chiamati figli di Dio e tali realmente siamo. Il mondo non ci, conosce, appunto perché non conobbe lui.
2 Beloved, we are God's children now; it does not yet appear what we shall be, but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.	2 Carissimi, già adesso siamo figli di Dio, e’ ancora non si manifestò quel che saremo. Sappiamo che; quando si manifestetò saremo somiglianti a lui, poiché lo vedremo così com’è.
3 And every one who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure.	3 Ora, ognuno che ha questa speranza in lui; si rende puro così come è puro.
4 Every one who commits sin is guilty of lawlessness; sin is lawlessness.	4 Chiunque commette il peccato, commette anche l’iniquità perché il peccato è iniquità.
5 You know that he appeared to take away sins, and in him there is no sin.	5 Ma voi sapete che egli apparve per togliere i peccati egli in cui non c’è peccato.
6 No one who abides in him sins; no one who sins has either seen him or known him.	6 E chi in lui dimora, non pecca; chi pecca non l’ha né veduto né conosciuto.
7 Little children, let no one deceive you. He who does right is righteous, as he is righteous.	7 Figlioletti, nessuno vi seduca: chi pratica la giustizia è giusto, così come egli è giusto.
8 He who commits sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.	8 Chi fa il peccato, viene dal diavolo, poiché fin dal principio il diavolo è peccatore. Il Figlio di Dio si manifestò appunto per disfare le opere del diavolo.
9 No one born of God commits sin; for God's nature abides in him, and he cannot sin because he is born of God.	9 Chiunque è generato da Dio non fa peccato. Un seme di Dio dimora in lui, e non può peccare chi è generato da Dio.
10 By this it may be seen who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not do right is not of God, nor he who does not love his brother.	10 È questo il segno dei figli di Dio e dei figli del diavolo: nessuno che non pratichi la giustizia è da Dio, e neppure colui che non ama il fratello suo.
11 For this is the message which you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another,	11 È questo il messaggio che ascoltaste fin dal principio: amarci l’un. l’altro.
12 and not be like Cain who was of the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own deeds were evil and his brother's righteous.	12 Non come Caino, che era dal maligno e uccise il fratello suo. E per qual motivo, se non perché le opere sue erano malvagie, mentre quelle del fratello erano sante?
13 Do not wonder, brethren, that the world hates you.	13 Non meravigliatevi più, o fratelli, se il mondo vi odia.
14 We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love abides in death.	14 Noi, amando i fratelli, sappiamo d’essere passati, dalla morte alla vita. Chi non ama dimora nella. morte.
15 Any one who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.	15 Chiunque odia il fratello suo è omicida, e sapete che nessun omicida ha vita eterna; dimorante in lui,
16 By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.	16 Ecco ora da che cosa abbiamo conosciuto l’amore: dal fatto che egli offrì per: noi la sua vita. Anche noi. quindi dobbiamo. per i fratelli offrire le, nostre vite.
17 But if any one has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him?	17 Se uno ha beni terreni e vede il suo, fratello nel bisogno e gli rifiuta ogni pietà, in che modo, l’amore di Dio potrà dimorare in lui?
18 Little children, let us not love in word or speech but in deed and in truth.	18 Figlioletti; non amiamo solo a parole o con la lingua, ma a fatti e in verità.
19 By this we shall know that we are of the truth, and reassure our hearts before him	19 Così conosceremo che siamo dalla verità, e dinanzi a Dio rassicureremo il nostro cuore
20 whenever our hearts condemn us; for God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything.	20 di qualunque cosa esso ci rimproveri, perché Iddio è più grande del nostro cuore e conosce tutto.
21 Beloved, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God;	21 Carissimi, se il cuore non rimprovera, abbiamo davanti a Dio piena sicurezza
22 and we receive from him whatever we ask, because we keep his commandments and do what pleases him.	22 e qualunque cosa si chieda, la riceviamo da lui, perché osserviamo i suoi comandamenti e facciamo ciò che è gradito al suo cospetto.
23 And this is his commandment, that we should believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he has commanded us.	23 E questo è il suo comandamento: che crediamo al nome del Figlio suo Gesù Cristo, e ci amiamo l’un l’altro come ce ne diede comandamento.
24 All who keep his commandments abide in him, and he in them. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit which he has given us.	24 Chi osserva i suoi comandamenti dimora in Dio e Dio in lui. E da questo sappiamo che dimora in noi: dallo Spirito che ci diede.
