1 Samuel 22

NEW JERUSALEM	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 David left there and took refuge in the Cave of Adul am; his brothers and his father's whole familyheard this and joined him there.	1 Davi partiu dali e refugiou-se na caverna de Odolão. Seus irmãos e toda a sua família, ouvindo isso, foram juntar-se a ele.
2 Al those in distress, al those in debt, al those who had a grievance, gathered round him and hebecame their leader. There were about four hundred men with him.	2 Todos os que se viam em miséria, os endividados, os descontentes, foram ter com Davi, e ele tornou-se o seu chefe. E estiveram com ele cerca de quatrocentos homens.
3 From there David went to Mizpah in Moab and said to the king of Moab, 'Allow my father and motherto stay with you until I know what God intends to do for me.'	3 Dali foi Davi para Masfa, em Moab, e disse ao rei de Moab: Permiti que meu pai e minha mãe venham habitar no meio de vós, até que eu saiba o que o Senhor me reserva.
4 He left them with the king of Moab and there they stayed all the time that David was in the stronghold.	4 Apresentou-os, pois, ao rei de Moab, e ficaram com ele durante todo o tempo em que Davi permaneceu no fortim.
5 The prophet Gad, however, said to David, 'Do not stay in the stronghold; leave and make your wayinto the territory of Judah.' David then left and went to the forest of Hereth.	5 Mas o profeta Gad disse a Davi: Não fiques no fortim. Parte, volta à terra de Judá. Davi partiu e internou-se na floresta de Haret.
6 When Saul heard that David and the men with him had been discovered, Saul was at Gibeah, seatedunder the tamarisk on the high place, spear in hand, with al his staff standing round him.	6 Saul foi informado de que haviam descoberto Davi e os seus. Estava o rei em Gabaa, sentado debaixo de uma tamareira, na colina, com a sua lança na mão, tendo todos os seus familiares em redor de si.
7 'Listen, Benjaminites!' said Saul to them, 'Is the son of Jesse going to give you all fields and vineyardsand make al of you commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds	7 Saul disse-lhes: Escutai, benjaminitas: será que o filho de Isaí dará a todos vós campos e vinhas? Irá ele fazer de todos vós chefes de milhares e chefes de centenas?
8 that you al conspire against me? No one warned me when my son made a pact with the son of Jesse;none of you felt sorry for me or warned me when my son incited my servant to become my enemy, as he is now.'	8 Por que vos conjurastes contra mim? Ninguém de vós me informou que meu filho tinha feito aliança com o filho de Isaí, e ninguém se deu o trabalho de avisar-me que meu filho instigava meu servo contra mim, para armar-me ciladas, como ele o faz hoje!
9 Then, up spoke Doeg the Edomite, who was in command of Saul's staff, 'I saw the son of Jessecoming to Nob, to Ahimelech son of Ahitub.	9 Doeg, o edomita, que era o primeiro entre os domésticos de Saul, respondeu: Eu vi o filho de Isaí chegar a Nobe, à casa de Aquimelec, filho de Aquitob.
10 That man consulted Yahweh on his behalf, gave him provisions and also the sword of Goliath thePhilistine.'	10 Este consultou o Senhor por ele e deu-lhe provisões, entregando-lhe também a espada do filisteu Golias.
11 The king then sent for the priest Ahimelech son of Ahitub and his whole family, the priests of Nob;they al came to the king.	11 O rei mandou chamar o sacerdote Aquimelec, filho de Aquitob, com toda a casa de seu pai, os sacerdotes que estavam em Nobe. Chegando eles à presença do rei,
12 Saul said, 'Now listen, son of Ahitub!' He replied, 'Here I am, my lord.'	12 Saul disse-lhes: Escuta, filho de Aquitob! Eis-me aqui, meu senhor, respondeu ele.
13 'Why have you conspired against me,' said Saul, 'you and the son of Jesse, giving him bread and asword and consulting God on his behalf, for him to rebel against me as is now the case?'	13 Por que, retomou Saul, conspiraste contra mim, tu e o filho de Isaí? Deste-lhe pão e uma espada, e consultaste Deus por ele, a fim de que ele se revolte contra mim e me arme ciladas como hoje acontece.
14 Ahimelech replied to the king, 'Of al those in your service, who is more loyal than David son-in-law tothe king, captain of your bodyguard, honoured in your household?	14 Aquimelec respondeu ao rei: Haverá entre todos os teus servos alguém mais fiel que Davi, genro do rei, teu conselheiro, um homem estimado por toda a tua casa?
15 Was today the first time I ever consulted God on his behalf? Indeed it was not! The king has nogrounds for bringing any charge against his servant or against his whole family, for your servant knew nothingwhatever about al this.'	15 Foi porventura hoje que comecei a consultar Deus por ele? Longe de mim {qualquer idéia de revolta}! Não impute o rei crime algum ao seu servo, nem à sua família! Teu servo nada soube de tudo isto, nem pouco nem muito.
16 The king retorted, 'You must die, Ahimelech, you and your whole family.'	16 O rei disse: Tu morrerás, Aquimelec, tu e toda a tua família!
17 The king said to the scouts who were standing round him, 'Forward! and put the priests of Yahweh todeath, for they too are on David's side, they knew that he was escaping, yet did not warn me of it.' The king'sprofessional soldiers, however, would not lift a hand to strike the priests of Yahweh.	17 E, dirigindo-se aos guardas que o cercavam: Ide, disse ele; matai os sacerdotes do Senhor, pois fizeram-se cúmplices de Davi: sabiam de sua fuga e não me preveniram. Mas os guardas do rei se recusaram a levantar a mão contra os sacerdotes do Senhor.
18 The king then said to Doeg, 'Forward, you! Fall on the priests!' Doeg the Edomite stepped forwardand fel on the priests, himself that day kil ing eighty-five men who wore the linen ephod.	18 Então o rei ordenou a Doeg: Vamos, fere-os. E Doeg, o edomita, aproximou-se e foi ele quem matou os sacerdotes. Massacrou naquele dia oitenta e cinco homens que vestiam o efod de linho.
19 Nob, the town of the priests, Saul put to the sword: men and women, children and infants, cattle,donkeys and sheep.	19 Ordenou também Saul que fosse passada ao fio da espada a cidade sacerdotal de Nobe: homens, mulheres, meninos, crianças de peito, bois, jumentos e ovelhas.
20 One son of Ahimelech son of Ahitub alone escaped. His name was Abiathar, and he fled away to joinDavid.	20 Só escapou um filho de Aquimelec, filho de Aquitob, chamado Abiatar, que se refugiou junto de Davi.
21 When Abiathar told David that Saul had slaughtered the priests of Yahweh,	21 Abiatar anunciou-lhe que Saul tinha massacrado os sacerdotes do Senhor.
22 David said to Abiathar, 'I knew, that day when Doeg the Edomite was there, that he would be sure toinform Saul. I am responsible for the death of all your kinsmen.	22 Davi disse-lhe: Eu bem suspeitava naquele dia que, estando ali Doeg, o edomita, ele iria contar tudo a Saul. Sou eu o culpado da morte de toda a casa de teu pai.
23 Stay with me, do not be afraid, for he who seeks your life seeks mine; you wil be safe with me.'	23 Fica comigo; não temas. Aquele que odeia a minha vida, odeia igualmente a tua. Junto de mim estarás seguro.
