1 Saul let his son Jonathan and al his servants know of his intention to kil David. But Jonathan, Saul'sson, held David in great affection;	1 Saul disse a Gionata suo figlio e a tutti i suoi servi di uccidere David; ma Gionata, figlio di Saul, amando grandemente David,
2 and Jonathan warned David, 'My father Saul is looking for a way to kil you, so be on your guardtomorrow morning; go into hiding, stay out of sight.	2 l'avvisò, dicendogli: « Saul mio padre cerca di farti morire, sta' in guardia, mi raccomando, e domattina tienti in luogo segreto e nascosto.
3 I shal go out and keep my father company in the countryside where you wil be, and shal talk to myfather about you; I shal see what the situation is and then tel you.'	3 Io allora uscirò con mio padre, alla campagna nel luogo ove sarai, parlerò di te al mio padre, e tutto quello che vedrò, te lo farò sapere ».
4 Jonathan spoke highly of David to Saul his father and said, 'The king should not harm his servantDavid; far from harming you, what he has done has been greatly to your advantage.	4 Gionata poi parlò a Saul in favore di David, e gli disse: « Non peccare, o re, contro il tuo servo David, perchè egli non ha peccato contro di te, e le sue opere sono state a te molto utili.
5 He took his life in his hands, he killed the Philistine, and Yahweh brought about a great victory for al Israel. You saw for yourself. How pleased you were! Why then sin against innocent blood by kil ing David for noreason?'	5 Egli pose a rischio la sua vita, uccise il Filisteo, e per lui il Signore operò una grande liberazione in Israele. Tu lo vedesti e ne provasti allegrezza. Perchè adunque peccare contro un sangue innocente, uccidendo David che non ha colpa? »
6 Saul was impressed by Jonathan's words. Saul swore, 'As Yahweh lives, I wil not kill him.'	6 Saul diede ascolto, e, placato alle parole di Gionata. giurò: « Viva il Signore: egli non morrà! »
7 Jonathan called David and told him al this. Jonathan then brought him to Saul, and David remained inattendance as before.	7 Gionata allora chiamò David, e raccontategli tutte queste cose, lo presentò a Saul presso il quale David Mette come per l'addietro.
8 War broke out again and David sallied out to fight the Philistines; he inflicted a great defeat on themand they fled before him.	8 Essendo ricominciata la guerra, David, uscito a combattere contro i Filistei, inflisse loro una grande sconfitta e li mise in fuga.
9 An evil spirit from Yahweh came over Saul while he was sitting in his house with his spear in his hand;David was playing the harp.	9 Allora lo spirito malvagio, mandato dal Signore, fu sopra Saul. Or mentre egli stava a sedere in casa sua con una lancia in mano, e David colla sua mano sonava l'arpa,
10 Saul tried to pin David to the wal with his spear, but he avoided Saul's thrust and the spear stuck inthe wal . David fled and made good his escape. That same night	10 tentò di conficcar David nella parete colla sua lancia; ma David sfuggì davanti a Saul, e la lancia, senza far male, diede nella parete. David fuggì e fu salvo per quella notte.
11 Saul sent agents to watch David's house, intending to kil him in the morning. But Michal, David'swife, warned him, 'If you do not escape tonight, you wil be a dead man tomorrow!'	11 Ma Saul mandò le sue guardie alla casa di David, per assicurarsi di lui e farlo morire al mattino. Però Micol, moglie di David, dopo avere avvertito il marito, dicendogli: « Se tu non ti salvi stanotte, domani morrai »,
12 Michal then let David down through the window, and he made off, took to flight and so escaped.	12 lo calò da una finestra; e David se ne andò, fuggì e si salvò.
13 Michal then took a domestic image, laid it on the bed, put a tress of goats' hair at the head of the bedand put a cover over it.	13 Intanto Micci, presa una statua, la pose sul letto, le mise intorno al capo una pelle, di capra col pelo, e la coprì di vesti;
14 When Saul sent the agents to arrest David, she said, 'He is il .'	14 e quando Saul mandò le guardie a prendere David, essa rispose che era ammalato.
15 Saul sent the agents back to see David, with the words, 'Bring him to me on his bed, for me to kilhim!'	15 Saul allora mandò di nuovo dei messi per veder David, dicendo: « Portatemelo nel suo letto, affinchè sia ucciso».
16 So in the agents went, and there in bed was the image, with the tress of goats' hair on its head!	16 Ma i messi andati che furono, trovaron nel letto la statua con la pelle di capra intorno al capo.
17 Saul then said to Michal, 'Why have you deceived me like this and let my enemy go, and so make hisescape?' Michal replied to Saul, 'He said, "Let me go, or I shal kill you!" '	17 Saul disse a Micol: «Perchè ti sei preso gioco di me in questo modo, e hai lasciato fuggire il mio nemico? » Micol rispose a Saul: « Perchè egli mi disse: Lasciami andare, o t'ammazzo ».
18 David, having fled and made his escape, went to Samuel at Ramah and told him exactly how Saulhad treated him; he and Samuel went and lived in the huts.	18 Così David fuggi e, postosi in salvo, andò da Samuele in Ramata, e gli raccontò tutto ciò che Saul gli aveva fatto. Poi David e Samuele partirono e si fermarono a Naiot.
19 Word was brought to Saul, 'David is in the huts at Ramah.'	19 La cosa fu riferita a Saul da alcuni che gli andarono a dire: « Ecco David è a Naiot in Ramata ».
20 Saul accordingly sent agents to capture David; when they saw the community of prophetsprophesying, and Samuel there as their leader, the spirit of God came over Saul's agents, and they too fel intofrenzy.	20 Allora Saul mandò delle guardie a prender David, ma queste, veduta un'adunanza di profeti che profetavano presieduti da Samuele, essendo lo Spirito del Signore andato anche sopra di loro, principiarono anch'esse a profetare.
21 When Saul was told of this, he sent other agents, and they too fel into frenzy; Saul then sent a thirdgroup of agents, and they fel into frenzy too.	21 Saul, risaputa la cosa, spedì altri messi; ma anche questi si misero a profetare. Per la terza volta Saul mandò dei messi, i quali pure si misero a profetare. Allora Saul, irritato dallo sdegno,
22 He then went to Ramah himself and, arriving at the large storage-wel at Seku, asked, 'Where areSamuel and David?' And someone said, 'Why, they are in the huts at Ramah!'	22 andò egli stesso a Ramata. Giunto alla gran cisterna che è in Soco, chiese: « Dove sono Samuele e Davide? » Gli fu risposto: « Ecco sono a Naiot in Ramata ».
23 Making his way from there to the huts at Ramah, the spirit of God came over him too, and he wentalong in a frenzy until he arrived at the huts at Ramah.	23 Allora Saul andò a Naiot in Ramata. Ma lo Spirito del Signore fu anche sopra di lui che durante il cammino andò profetando sino a che non arrivò a Naiot in Ramata.
24 He too stripped off his clothes and he too fell into a frenzy in Samuel's presence, then col apsednaked on the ground for the rest of that day and al night. Hence the saying: Is Saul one of the prophets too?	24 e, spogliatosi anch'egli delle sue vesti profetò con tutti gli altri dinanzi a Samuele, e stette nudo per terra tutto quel giorno e tutta la notte. Da ciò ne venne il proverbio: «Anche Saul è tra i profeti? »
