NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Saul let his son Jonathan and al his servants know of his intention to kil David. But Jonathan, Saul'sson, held David in great affection;	1 Saúl habló a su hijo Jonatán y a todos sus servidores de su proyecto de matar a David. Pero Jonatán, hijo de Saúl, quería mucho a David,
2 and Jonathan warned David, 'My father Saul is looking for a way to kil you, so be on your guardtomorrow morning; go into hiding, stay out of sight.	2 y lo puso sobre aviso, diciéndole: «Mi padre Saúl intenta matarte. Ten mucho cuidado mañana por la mañana; retírate a un lugar oculto y no te dejes ver.
3 I shal go out and keep my father company in the countryside where you wil be, and shal talk to myfather about you; I shal see what the situation is and then tel you.'	3 Yo saldré y me quedaré junto con mi padre en el campo donde tú estés; le hablaré de ti, veré que pasa y te lo comunicaré».
4 Jonathan spoke highly of David to Saul his father and said, 'The king should not harm his servantDavid; far from harming you, what he has done has been greatly to your advantage.	4 Jonatán habló a su padre Saúl en favor de David, y le dijo: «Que el rey no peque contra su servidor David, ya que él no ha pecado contra ti. Al contrario, sus acciones te reportan grandes beneficios.
5 He took his life in his hands, he killed the Philistine, and Yahweh brought about a great victory for al Israel. You saw for yourself. How pleased you were! Why then sin against innocent blood by kil ing David for noreason?'	5 El se jugó la vida cuando derrotó al filisteo, y el Señor dio una gran victoria a todo Israel. Si tanto te alegraste al verlo, ¿por qué vas a pecar con sangre inocente, matando a David sin motivo?».
6 Saul was impressed by Jonathan's words. Saul swore, 'As Yahweh lives, I wil not kill him.'	6 Saúl hizo caso a Jonatán y pronunció este juramento: «¡Por la vida del Señor, no morirá!».
7 Jonathan called David and told him al this. Jonathan then brought him to Saul, and David remained inattendance as before.	7 Jonatán llamó a David y lo puso al tanto de todo. Luego lo llevó a la presencia de Saúl, y David quedó a su servicio como antes.
8 War broke out again and David sallied out to fight the Philistines; he inflicted a great defeat on themand they fled before him.	8 Al reanudarse la guerra, David salió a combatir contra los filisteos; les infligió una gran derrota y ellos huyeron ante él.
9 An evil spirit from Yahweh came over Saul while he was sitting in his house with his spear in his hand;David was playing the harp.	9 Entonces, un mal espíritu del Señor se apoderó de Saúl. Mientras él estaba sentado en su casa, con la lanza en la mano, y David tocaba su instrumento,
10 Saul tried to pin David to the wal with his spear, but he avoided Saul's thrust and the spear stuck inthe wal . David fled and made good his escape. That same night	10 Saúl trató de clavarlo contra la pared con la lanza. Pero David esquivó el golpe de Saúl, y la lanza se clavó en la pared. En seguida David huyó y se puso a salvo.
11 Saul sent agents to watch David's house, intending to kil him in the morning. But Michal, David'swife, warned him, 'If you do not escape tonight, you wil be a dead man tomorrow!'	11 Saúl envió unos emisarios a la casa de David, para vigilarlo y darle muerte a la mañana. Pero Mical, su esposa, le advirtió: «Si no salvas tu vida esta noche, mañana estarás muerto».
12 Michal then let David down through the window, and he made off, took to flight and so escaped.	12 Mical ayudó a David a bajar por la ventana, y él huyó para ponerse a salvo.
13 Michal then took a domestic image, laid it on the bed, put a tress of goats' hair at the head of the bedand put a cover over it.	13 Luego, Mical tomó el ídolo familiar y lo colocó sobre la cama; puso en la cabecera un cuero de cabra y lo cubrió con una manta.
14 When Saul sent the agents to arrest David, she said, 'He is il .'	14 Saúl envió emisarios para que detuvieran a David, pero Mical les dijo: «Está enfermo».
15 Saul sent the agents back to see David, with the words, 'Bring him to me on his bed, for me to kilhim!'	15 Saúl los mandó de nuevo a ver a David, con esta orden: «¡Tráiganmelo con cama y todo, para que yo lo mate!».

17 Saul then said to Michal, 'Why have you deceived me like this and let my enemy go, and so make hisescape?' Michal replied to Saul, 'He said, "Let me go, or I shal kill you!" 18 David, having fled and made his escape, went to Samuel at Ramah and told him exactly how Saulhad treated him; he and Samuel went and lived in the huts.	18 Una vez que huyó y se puso a salvo, David se presentó a Samuel en Ramá y le contó todo lo que le había hecho Saúl. 19 Word was brought to Saul, 'David is in the huts at Ramah.'	19 Cuando informaron a Saúl de que David estaba en Naiot, en Ramá,
20 Saul accordingly sent agents to capture David; when they saw the community of prophetsprophesying, and Samuel there as their leader, the spirit of God came over Saul's agents, and they too fel intofrenzy.	20 aquel envió emisarios para que detuvieran a David. 21 When Saul was told of this, he sent other agents, and they too fel into frenzy; Saul then sent a thirdgroup of agents, and they fel into frenzy too.	21 Al enterarse de esto, Saúl envió otros emisarios, pero también ellos entraron en trance. 22 He then went to Ramah himself and, arriving at the large storage-wel at Seku, asked, 'Where areSamuel and David?' And someone said, 'Why, they are in the huts at Ramah!'	22 Entonces fue él personalmente a Ramá. 24 He too stripped off his clothes and he too fell into a frenzy in Samuel's presence, then col apsednaked on the ground for the rest of that day and al night. Hence the saying: Is Saul one of the prophets too?	24 También él se despojó de su ropa y estuvo en trance delante de Samuel. Luego cayó rendido, y estuvo desnudo todo aquel día y aquella noche. Por eso se puede decir: «¿También Saúl está entre los profetas?».
