1 Saul let his son Jonathan and al his servants know of his intention to kil David. But Jonathan, Saul'sson, held David in great affection;	1 Saul comunicò a suo figlio Gionata e a tutti i suoi cortigiani di voler uccidere Davide, ma Gionata, figlio di Saul, aveva molto affetto per Davide
2 and Jonathan warned David, 'My father Saul is looking for a way to kil you, so be on your guardtomorrow morning; go into hiding, stay out of sight.	2 e lo avvertì dicendo: "Mio padre Saul sta cercando di farti morire; fa' dunque attenzione domattina, rimani in un luogo riparato e nasconditi.
3 I shal go out and keep my father company in the countryside where you wil be, and shal talk to myfather about you; I shal see what the situation is and then tel you.'	3 Io uscirò e rimarrò accanto a mio padre nella campagna dove tu ti trovi; io parlerò di te a mio padre: vedrò che cosa succede e te lo farò sapere".
4 Jonathan spoke highly of David to Saul his father and said, 'The king should not harm his servantDavid; far from harming you, what he has done has been greatly to your advantage.	4 Gionata parlò bene di Davide a suo padre Saul e gli disse: "Non pecchi il re contro il suo servo, contro Davide, perché egli non ha mancato contro di te, anzi le sue imprese ti sono molto utili.
5 He took his life in his hands, he killed the Philistine, and Yahweh brought about a great victory for al Israel. You saw for yourself. How pleased you were! Why then sin against innocent blood by kil ing David for noreason?'	5 Egli ha esposto la sua vita al rischio, ha battuto il filisteo, e il Signore ha operato una grande vittoria per Israele intero: hai veduto e ti sei rallegrato. Perché ora vuoi peccare contro un sangue innocente, facendo morire Davide senza motivo?".
6 Saul was impressed by Jonathan's words. Saul swore, 'As Yahweh lives, I wil not kill him.'	6 Saul dette ascolto alla voce di Gionata e giurò: "Per la vita del Signore, non morrà!".
7 Jonathan called David and told him al this. Jonathan then brought him to Saul, and David remained inattendance as before.	7 Gionata chiamò Davide e gli riferì tutte quelle cose; poi Gionata ricondusse Davide da Saul, ed egli stette alla presenza di lui come per il passato.
8 War broke out again and David sallied out to fight the Philistines; he inflicted a great defeat on themand they fled before him.	8 Vi fu di nuovo la guerra. Allora Davide uscì e diede battaglia ai Filistei; inflisse loro una grande disfatta ed essi si dettero alla fuga davanti a lui.
9 An evil spirit from Yahweh came over Saul while he was sitting in his house with his spear in his hand;David was playing the harp.	9 Uno spirito maligno del Signore fu su Saul, mentre questi stava nella sua casa con la sua lancia in pugno, e Davide stava suonando la cetra.
10 Saul tried to pin David to the wal with his spear, but he avoided Saul's thrust and the spear stuck inthe wal . David fled and made good his escape. That same night	10 Saul cercò di colpire Davide con la lancia contro la parete, ma questi si allontanò da Saul che infisse la lancia nel muro. Davide fuggì e si mise in salvo quella notte.
11 Saul sent agents to watch David's house, intending to kil him in the morning. But Michal, David'swife, warned him, 'If you do not escape tonight, you wil be a dead man tomorrow!'	11 Saul inviò dei messi alla casa di Davide per sorvegliarlo e farlo morire il mattino dopo, ma sua moglie Mikal informò Davide dicendo: "Se non ti metti in salvo questa notte, tu domani sarai morto".
12 Michal then let David down through the window, and he made off, took to flight and so escaped.	12 Allora Mikal fece scendere Davide per la finestra; egli partì, prese la fuga e si mise in salvo.
13 Michal then took a domestic image, laid it on the bed, put a tress of goats' hair at the head of the bedand put a cover over it.	13 Mikal prese poi una statuetta e la pose sul letto, al suo capezzale mise un tessuto di capra e lo coprì con un panno.
14 When Saul sent the agents to arrest David, she said, 'He is il .'	14 Quando Saul mandò messi per prendere Davide ella disse: "E' malato".
15 Saul sent the agents back to see David, with the words, 'Bring him to me on his bed, for me to kilhim!'	15 Ma Saul inviò i messi per vedere Davide e disse loro: "Portatemelo qua nel letto, per ucciderlo".
16 So in the agents went, and there in bed was the image, with the tress of goats' hair on its head!	16 Arrivarono i messi, ma ecco che sul letto c'era la statuetta e il panno di capra per capezzale.
17 Saul then said to Michal, 'Why have you deceived me like this and let my enemy go, and so make hisescape?' Michal replied to Saul, 'He said, "Let me go, or I shal kill you!" '	17 Saul disse a Mikal: "Perché mi hai ingannato così, mandando via il mio nemico, perché si mettesse in salvo?". Mikal rispose a Saul: "E' lui che mi ha detto: "Lasciami andare! Perché dovrei farti morire?".
18 David, having fled and made his escape, went to Samuel at Ramah and told him exactly how Saulhad treated him; he and Samuel went and lived in the huts.	18 Davide fuggì e si mise in salvo; andò da Samuele a Rama e gli raccontò tutto quello che gli aveva fatto Saul. Allora lui e Samuele se ne andarono ad abitare a Naiot.
19 Word was brought to Saul, 'David is in the huts at Ramah.'	19 La cosa fu riferita a Saul: "Ecco, Davide è a Naiot di Rama".
20 Saul accordingly sent agents to capture David; when they saw the community of prophetsprophesying, and Samuel there as their leader, the spirit of God came over Saul's agents, and they too fel intofrenzy.	20 Saul spedì dei messaggeri per catturare Davide, ma quando essi videro la comunità dei profeti in atto di profetare e Samuele che li presiedeva, lo spirito di Dio venne sui messaggeri di Saul e anch'essi si misero ad agire come profeti.
21 When Saul was told of this, he sent other agents, and they too fel into frenzy; Saul then sent a thirdgroup of agents, and they fel into frenzy too.	21 Lo riferirono a Saul, il quale mandò altri messi, ma anche questi si misero a fare i profeti. Saul mandò ancora un terzo gruppo di messi, ma anche questi si misero a fare i profeti.
22 He then went to Ramah himself and, arriving at the large storage-wel at Seku, asked, 'Where areSamuel and David?' And someone said, 'Why, they are in the huts at Ramah!'	22 Allora andò egli stesso a Rama e, giunto fino alla cisterna grande che è a Secu, domandò: "Dove sono Samuele e Davide?". Uno rispose: "Ecco, a Naiot di Rama".
23 Making his way from there to the huts at Ramah, the spirit of God came over him too, and he wentalong in a frenzy until he arrived at the huts at Ramah.	23 Allora andò là a Naiot di Rama, ma venne lo spirito di Dio anche su di lui, ed egli se ne andava avanti facendo il profeta finché giunse a Naiot di Rama.
24 He too stripped off his clothes and he too fell into a frenzy in Samuel's presence, then col apsednaked on the ground for the rest of that day and al night. Hence the saying: Is Saul one of the prophets too?	24 Anch'egli si tolse le vesti e fece il profeta davanti a Samuele e cadde nudo per tutto quel giorno e tutta quella notte. Per questo si dice: "Perfino Saul è tra i profeti!".
