NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Then I heard a loud voice from the sanctuary cal ing to the seven angels, 'Go, and empty the sevenbowls of God's anger over the earth.'	1 Udii poi dal tempio una gran voce dire ai sette angeli: "Andate e versate sulla terra le sette coppe del furore di Dio".
2 The first angel went and emptied his bowl over the earth; at once, on al the people who had beenbranded with the mark of the beast and had worshipped its statue, there came disgusting and virulent sores.	2 Il primo andò e versò la sua coppa sulla terra; una piaga maligna e perniciosa si produsse sugli uomini che portavano il marchio della bestia e ne adoravano l'immagine.
3 The second angel emptied his bowl over the sea, and it turned to blood, like the blood of a corpse, andevery living creature in the sea died.	3 Il secondo versò la sua coppa sul mare; esso diventò sangue come di un morto, per cui tutti gli esseri viventi che si trovavano nel mare morirono.
4 The third angel emptied his bowl into the rivers and springs of water and they turned into blood.	4 Il terzo versò la sua coppa sui fiumi e sulle sorgenti di acqua: diventarono sangue.
5 Then I heard the angel of water say, 'You are the Upright One, He who is, He who was, the Holy One,for giving this verdict:	5 Allora udii l'angelo delle acque che diceva: "Giusto sei, tu che sei e che eri, o Santo, se hai inflitto tali castighi!
6 they spilt the blood of the saints and the prophets, and blood is what you have given them to drink; it iswhat they deserve.'	6 Poiché versarono il sangue di santi e profeti, sangue anche tu desti loro da bere. Ne sono ben meritevoli!".
7 And I heard the altar itself say, 'Truly, Lord God Almighty, the punishments you give are true and just.'	7 Udii quindi una voce dall'altare che diceva: "Sì, o Signore, Dio Onnipotente, giusti e veraci sono i tuoi giudizi".
8 The fourth angel emptied his bowl over the sun and it was made to scorch people with its flames;	8 Il quarto versò la sua coppa sul sole, affinché avvampasse gli uomini col fuoco;
9 but though people were scorched by the fierce heat of it, they cursed the name of God who had thepower to cause such plagues, and they would not repent and glorify him.	9 e questi, tormentati da un calore insopportabile, si misero a lanciare bestemmie contro il nome di Dio, dal quale provenivano questi flagelli; ma non si piegarono a rendergli gloria.
10 The fifth angel emptied his bowl over the throne of the beast and its whole empire was plunged intodarkness. People were biting their tongues for pain,	10 Il quinto versò la sua coppa sul trono della bestia; il suo regno s'offuscò, gli uomini si mordevano la lingua dal dolore;
11 but instead of repenting for what they had done, they cursed the God of heaven because of theirpains and sores.	11 bestemmiavano contro il Dio del cielo a causa dei dolori provocati dalle loro ulcere; ma non si ravvidero dalla loro condotta.
12 The sixth angel emptied his bowl over the great river Euphrates; al the water dried up so that a waywas made for the kings of the East to come in.	12 Il sesto versò la sua coppa sul grande fiume Eufrate. La sua acqua s'essiccò, in modo da lasciar via libera ai re dell'Oriente.
13 Then from the jaws of dragon and beast and false prophet I saw three foul spirits come; they lookedlike frogs	13 Quindi vidi uscire dalla bocca del dragone, della bestia e del falso profeta tre spiriti impuri, che somigliavano a rane.
14 and in fact were demon spirits, able to work miracles, going out to al the kings of the world to callthem together for the war of the Great Day of God the Almighty.-	14 Sono, infatti, spiriti demoniaci che, muniti di poteri taumaturgici, hanno il compito di chiamare a raccolta i re di tutta la terra per la guerra del gran giorno di Dio, l'Onnipotente.
15 Look, I shall come like a thief. Blessed is anyone who has kept watch, and has kept his clothes on,so that he does not go out naked and expose his shame.-	15 Ecco: io verrò come un ladro; beato colui che è vigilante e conserva le sue vesti; così non camminerà ignudo e non lascerà scorgere la sua vergogna!
16 They cal ed the kings together at the place cal ed, in Hebrew, Armageddon.	16 E radunarono i re nel luogo chiamato in ebraico Armaghedòn.
17 The seventh angel emptied his bowl into the air, and a great voice boomed out from the sanctuary,'The end has come.'	17 Infine, il settimo versò la sua coppa nell'aria; dal tempio, dalla parte del trono, uscì una voce che disse: "E' compiuto".
18 Then there were flashes of lightning and peals of thunder and a violent earthquake, unparalleledsince humanity first came into existence.	18 Vi furono allora lampi, voci e tuoni e un terremoto talmente grande, che mai è avvenuto un terremoto così veemente da quando l'umanità è apparsa sulla terra,
19 The Great City was split into three parts and the cities of the world col apsed; Babylon the Great wasnot forgotten: God made her drink the ful winecup of his retribution.	19 per cui la grande città si scisse in tre parti e le città delle nazioni crollarono. E fu fatta menzione davanti a Dio della grande Babilonia, affinché le fosse dato da bere il calice del vino della sua ira furente.
20 Every island vanished and the mountains disappeared;	20 Tutte le isole fuggirono e i monti scomparvero;
21 and hail, with great hailstones weighing a talent each, fel from the sky on the people. They cursedGod for sending a plague of hail; it was the most terrible plague.	21 e dal cielo cadde sugli uomini una grandine così grossa da apparire una pioggia di talenti; e gli uomini bestemmiarono Dio a causa del flagello della grandine, perché oltremodo grande era un tale flagello.
