1 John 4

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 My dear friends, not every spirit is to be trusted, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God,for many false prophets are at large in the world.	1 Carissimi, non vogliate credere a ogni spirito, ma esaminate gli spiriti per conoscere se sono da Dio, poiché molti falsi profeti sono venuti nel mondo.
2 This is the proof of the spirit of God: any spirit which acknowledges Jesus Christ, come in humannature, is from God,	2 Da questo voi conoscete lo spirito di Dio: ogni spirito che confessa Gesù Cristo venuto nella carne è da Dio;
3 and no spirit which fails to acknowledge Jesus is from God; it is the spirit of Antichrist, whose comingyou have heard of; he is already at large in the world.	3 e ogni spirito che non confessa Gesù non è da Dio. Ma questo è lo spirito dell'anticristo, del quale avete sentito che deve venire, anzi è già nel mondo.
4 Children, you are from God and have overcome them, because he who is in you is greater than he whois in the world.	4 Voi, figli, siete da Dio e li avete vinti, poiché chi è in voi è più grande di colui che è nel mondo.
5 They are from the world, and therefore the world inspires what they say, and listens to them.	5 Essi sono dal mondo; perciò parlano del mondo e il mondo li ascolta.
6 We are from God; whoever recognises God listens to us; anyone who is not from God refuses to listento us. This is how we can distinguish the spirit of truth from the spirit of falsehood.	6 Noi siamo da Dio. Chi conosce Dio ascolta noi; chi non è da Dio non ascolta noi. Da ciò conosciamo lo spirito della verità e lo spirito dell'errore.
7 My dear friends, let us love one another, since love is from God and everyone who loves is a child ofGod and knows God.	7 Carissimi, amiamoci gli uni gli altri, poiché l'amore è da Dio e chi ama è generato da Dio e conosce Dio.
8 Whoever fails to love does not know God, because God is love.	8 Chi non ama non ha conosciuto Dio, poiché Dio è amore.
9 This is the revelation of God's love for us, that God sent his only Son into the world that we might havelife through him.	9 L'amore di Dio si è manifestato tra noi in questo: Dio ha inviato il suo Figlio unigenito nel mondo, affinché noi avessimo la vita per mezzo di lui.
10 Love consists in this: it is not we who loved God, but God loved us and sent his Son to expiate oursins.	10 In questo si è manifestato l'amore: noi non abbiamo amato Dio, ma egli ha amato noi e ha inviato il Figlio suo come propiziazione per i nostri peccati.
11 My dear friends, if God loved us so much, we too should love one another.	11 Carissimi, se così Dio ha amato noi, anche noi dobbiamo amarci gli uni gli altri.
12 No one has ever seen God, but as long as we love one another God remains in us and his love comesto its perfection in us.	12 Nessuno ha mai visto Dio; se ci amiamo gli uni gli altri Dio rimane in noi e il suo amore in noi è perfetto.
13 This is the proof that we remain in him and he in us, that he has given us a share in his Spirit.	13 Da questo conosciamo che noi rimaniamo in lui ed egli in noi: che egli ci ha dato del suo Spirito.
14 We ourselves have seen and testify that the Father sent his Son as Saviour of the world.	14 E noi abbiamo visto e attestiamo che il Padre ha inviato il Figlio come salvatore del mondo.
15 Anyone who acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God remains in him and he in God.	15 Chi confessa che Gesù è il Figlio di Dio, Dio in lui rimane ed egli in Dio.
16 We have recognised for ourselves, and put our faith in, the love God has for us. God is love, andwhoever remains in love remains in God and God in him.	16 E noi abbiamo conosciuto e abbiamo creduto all'amore che Dio ha per noi. Dio è amore e chi rimane nell'amore rimane in Dio e Dio rimane in lui.
17 Love comes to its perfection in us when we can face the Day of Judgement fearlessly, because evenin this world we have become as he is.	17 In questo l'amore che è in noi è perfetto: noi abbiamo piena sicurezza per il giorno del giudizio, poiché com'egli è, siamo anche noi in questo mondo. Nell'amore non vi è timore;
18 In love there is no room for fear, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear implies punishment andno one who is afraid has come to perfection in love.	18 anzi il perfetto amore scaccia il timore, perché il timore suppone il castigo e chi teme non è perfetto nell'amore.
19 Let us love, then, because he first loved us.	19 Noi dobbiamo amare, perché lui per primo ci ha amati.
20 Anyone who says 'I love God' and hates his brother, is a liar, since whoever does not love the brotherwhom he can see cannot love God whom he has not seen.	20 Se uno dice: "Io amo Dio" e poi odia il proprio fratello, è mentitore: chi infatti non ama il proprio fratello che vede, non può amare Dio che non vede.
21 Indeed this is the commandment we have received from him, that whoever loves God, must also lovehis brother.	21 E noi abbiamo da lui questo comandamento: chi ama Dio ami anche il proprio fratello.
