1 John 4

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 My dear friends, not every spirit is to be trusted, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God,for many false prophets are at large in the world.	1 Queridos, no os fiéis de cualquier espíritu, sino examinad si los espíritus vienen de Dios, pues muchos falsos profetas han salido al mundo.
2 This is the proof of the spirit of God: any spirit which acknowledges Jesus Christ, come in humannature, is from God,	2 Podréis conocer en esto el espíritu de Dios: todo espíritu que confiesa a Jesucristo, venido en carne, es de Dios;
3 and no spirit which fails to acknowledge Jesus is from God; it is the spirit of Antichrist, whose comingyou have heard of; he is already at large in the world.	3 y todo espíritu que no confiesa a Jesús, no es de Dios; ese es el del Anticristo. El cual habéis oído que iba a venir; pues bien, ya está en el mundo.
4 Children, you are from God and have overcome them, because he who is in you is greater than he whois in the world.	4 Vosotros, hijos míos, sois de Dios y los habéis vencido. Pues el que está en vosotros es más que el que está en el mundo.
5 They are from the world, and therefore the world inspires what they say, and listens to them.	5 Ellos son del mundo; por eso hablan según el mundo y el mundo los escucha.
6 We are from God; whoever recognises God listens to us; anyone who is not from God refuses to listento us. This is how we can distinguish the spirit of truth from the spirit of falsehood.	6 Nosotros somos de Dios. Quien conoce a Dios nos escucha, quien no es de Dios no nos escucha. En esto conocemos el espíritu de la verdad y el espíritu del error.
7 My dear friends, let us love one another, since love is from God and everyone who loves is a child ofGod and knows God.	7 Queridos, amémonos unos a otros, ya que el amor es de Dios, y todo el que ama ha nacido de Dios y conoce a Dios.
8 Whoever fails to love does not know God, because God is love.	8 Quien no ama no ha conocido a Dios, porque Dios es Amor.
9 This is the revelation of God's love for us, that God sent his only Son into the world that we might havelife through him.	9 En esto se manifestó el amor que Dios nos tiene; en que Dios envió al mundo a su Hijo único para que vivamos por medio de él.
10 Love consists in this: it is not we who loved God, but God loved us and sent his Son to expiate oursins.	10 En esto consiste el amor: no en que nosotros hayamos amado a Dios, sino en que él nos amó y nos envió a su Hijo como propiciación por nuestros pecados.
11 My dear friends, if God loved us so much, we too should love one another.	11 Queridos, si Dios nos amó de esta manera, también nosotros debemos amarnos unos a otros.
12 No one has ever seen God, but as long as we love one another God remains in us and his love comesto its perfection in us.	12 A Dios nadie le ha visto nunca. Si nos amamos unos a otros, Dios permanece en nosotros y su amor ha llegado en nosotros a su plenitud.
13 This is the proof that we remain in him and he in us, that he has given us a share in his Spirit.	13 En esto conocemos que permanecemos en él y él en nosotros: en que nos ha dado de su Espíritu.
14 We ourselves have seen and testify that the Father sent his Son as Saviour of the world.	14 Y nosotros hemos visto y damos testimonio de que el Padre envió a su Hijo, como Salvador del mundo.
15 Anyone who acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God remains in him and he in God.	15 Quien confiese que Jesús es el Hijo de Dios, Dios permanece em él y él en Dios.
16 We have recognised for ourselves, and put our faith in, the love God has for us. God is love, andwhoever remains in love remains in God and God in him.	16 Y nosotros hemos conocido el amor que Dios nos tiene, y hemos creído en él. Dios es Amor y quien permanece en el amor permanece en Dios y Dios en él.
17 Love comes to its perfection in us when we can face the Day of Judgement fearlessly, because evenin this world we have become as he is.	17 En esto ha llegado el amor a su plenitud con nosotros: en que tengamos confianza en el día del Juicio, pues como él es, así somos nosotros en este mundo.
18 In love there is no room for fear, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear implies punishment andno one who is afraid has come to perfection in love.	18 No hay temor en el amor; sino que el amor perfecto expulsa el temor, porque el temor mira el castigo;
19 Let us love, then, because he first loved us.	19 quien teme no ha llegado a la plenitud en el amor. Nosotros amemos, porque él nos amó primero.
20 Anyone who says 'I love God' and hates his brother, is a liar, since whoever does not love the brotherwhom he can see cannot love God whom he has not seen.	20 Si alguno dice: «Amo a Dios», y aborrece a su hermano, es un mentiroso; pues quien no ama a su hermano, a quien ve, no puede amar a Dios a quien no ve.
21 Indeed this is the commandment we have received from him, that whoever loves God, must also lovehis brother.	21 Y hemos recibido de él este mandamiento: quien ama a Dios, ame también a su hermano.
