NEW JERUSALEMKING JAMES BIBLE
My dear friends, not every spirit is to be trusted, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God,for many false prophets are at large in the world.1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
This is the proof of the spirit of God: any spirit which acknowledges Jesus Christ, come in humannature, is from God,2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
and no spirit which fails to acknowledge Jesus is from God; it is the spirit of Antichrist, whose comingyou have heard of; he is already at large in the world.3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
Children, you are from God and have overcome them, because he who is in you is greater than he whois in the world.4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
They are from the world, and therefore the world inspires what they say, and listens to them.5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.
We are from God; whoever recognises God listens to us; anyone who is not from God refuses to listento us. This is how we can distinguish the spirit of truth from the spirit of falsehood.6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
My dear friends, let us love one another, since love is from God and everyone who loves is a child ofGod and knows God.7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
Whoever fails to love does not know God, because God is love.8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
This is the revelation of God's love for us, that God sent his only Son into the world that we might havelife through him.9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
Love consists in this: it is not we who loved God, but God loved us and sent his Son to expiate oursins.10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
My dear friends, if God loved us so much, we too should love one another.11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
No one has ever seen God, but as long as we love one another God remains in us and his love comesto its perfection in us.12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
This is the proof that we remain in him and he in us, that he has given us a share in his Spirit.13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
We ourselves have seen and testify that the Father sent his Son as Saviour of the world.14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.
Anyone who acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God remains in him and he in God.15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.
We have recognised for ourselves, and put our faith in, the love God has for us. God is love, andwhoever remains in love remains in God and God in him.16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
Love comes to its perfection in us when we can face the Day of Judgement fearlessly, because evenin this world we have become as he is.17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
In love there is no room for fear, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear implies punishment andno one who is afraid has come to perfection in love.18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
Let us love, then, because he first loved us.19 We love him, because he first loved us.
Anyone who says 'I love God' and hates his brother, is a liar, since whoever does not love the brotherwhom he can see cannot love God whom he has not seen.20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
Indeed this is the commandment we have received from him, that whoever loves God, must also lovehis brother.21 And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.
