1 John 4

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 My dear friends, not every spirit is to be trusted, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God,for many false prophets are at large in the world.	1 Queridos míos, no crean a cualquiera que se considere inspirado: pongan a prueba su inspiración, para ver si procede de Dios, porque han aparecido en el mundo muchos falsos profetas.
2 This is the proof of the spirit of God: any spirit which acknowledges Jesus Christ, come in humannature, is from God,	2 En esto reconocerán al que está inspirado por Dios: todo el que confiesa a Jesucristo manifestado en la carne, procede de Dios.
3 and no spirit which fails to acknowledge Jesus is from God; it is the spirit of Antichrist, whose comingyou have heard of; he is already at large in the world.	3 Y todo el que niega a Jesús, no procede de Dios, sino que está inspirado por el Anticristo, por el que ustedes oyeron decir que vendría y ya está en el mundo.
4 Children, you are from God and have overcome them, because he who is in you is greater than he whois in the world.	4 Hijos míos, ustedes son de Dios y han vencido a esos falsos profetas, porque aquel que está en ustedes es más grande que el que está en el mundo.
5 They are from the world, and therefore the world inspires what they say, and listens to them.	5 Ellos son del mundo, por eso hablan el lenguaje del mundo y el mundo los escucha.
6 We are from God; whoever recognises God listens to us; anyone who is not from God refuses to listento us. This is how we can distinguish the spirit of truth from the spirit of falsehood.	6 Nosotros, en cambio, somos de Dios. El que conoce a Dios nos escucha, pero el que no es de Dios no nos escucha. Y en esto distinguiremos la verdadera de la falsa inspiración.
7 My dear friends, let us love one another, since love is from God and everyone who loves is a child ofGod and knows God.	7 Queridos míos, amémonos los unos a los otros, porque el amor procede de Dios, y el que ama ha nacido de Dios y conoce a Dios.
8 Whoever fails to love does not know God, because God is love.	8 El que no ama no ha conocido a Dios, porque Dios es amor.
9 This is the revelation of God's love for us, that God sent his only Son into the world that we might havelife through him.	9 Así Dios nos manifestó su amor: envió a su Hijo único al mundo, para que tuviéramos Vida por medio de él.
10 Love consists in this: it is not we who loved God, but God loved us and sent his Son to expiate oursins.	10 Y este amor no consiste en que nosotros hayamos amado a Dios, sino en que él nos amó primero, y envió a su Hijo como víctima propiciatoria por nuestros pecados.
11 My dear friends, if God loved us so much, we too should love one another.	11 Queridos míos, si Dios nos amó tanto, también nosotros debemos amarnos los unos a los otros.
12 No one has ever seen God, but as long as we love one another God remains in us and his love comesto its perfection in us.	12 Nadie ha visto nunca a Dios: si nos amamos los unos a los otros, Dios permanece en nosotros y el amor de Dios ha llegado a su plenitud en nosotros.
13 This is the proof that we remain in him and he in us, that he has given us a share in his Spirit.	13 La señal de que permanecemos en él y él permanece en nosotros, es que nos ha comunicado su Espíritu.
14 We ourselves have seen and testify that the Father sent his Son as Saviour of the world.	14 Y nosotros hemos visto y atestiguamos que el Padre envió al Hijo como Salvador del mundo.
15 Anyone who acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God remains in him and he in God.	15 El que confiesa que Jesús es el Hijo de Dios, permanece en Dios, y Dios permanece en él.
16 We have recognised for ourselves, and put our faith in, the love God has for us. God is love, andwhoever remains in love remains in God and God in him.	16 Nosotros hemos conocido el amor que Dios nos tiene y hemos creído en él. Dios es amor, y el que permanece en el amor permanece en Dios, y Dios permanece en él.
17 Love comes to its perfection in us when we can face the Day of Judgement fearlessly, because evenin this world we have become as he is.	17 La señal de que el amor ha llegado a su plenitud en nosotros, está en que tenemos plena confianza ante el día del Juicio, porque ya en este mundo somos semejantes a él.
18 In love there is no room for fear, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear implies punishment andno one who is afraid has come to perfection in love.	18 En el amor no hay lugar para el temor: al contrario, el amor perfecto elimina el temor, porque el temor supone un castigo, y el que teme no ha llegado a la plenitud del amor.
19 Let us love, then, because he first loved us.	19 Nosotros amamos porque Dios nos amó primero.
20 Anyone who says 'I love God' and hates his brother, is a liar, since whoever does not love the brotherwhom he can see cannot love God whom he has not seen.	20 El que dice: «Amo a Dios», y no ama a su hermano, es un mentiroso. ¿Cómo puede amar a Dios, a quien no ve, el que no ama a su hermano, a quien ve?
21 Indeed this is the commandment we have received from him, that whoever loves God, must also lovehis brother.	21 Este es el mandamiento que hemos recibido de él: el que ama a Dios debe amar también a su hermano.
