1 As Christ has undergone bodily suffering, you too should arm yourselves with the same conviction, thatanyone who has undergone bodily suffering has broken with sin,	1 Cristo adunque patito avendo nella carne, armatevi ancor voi dello stesso pensiero: che chi ha patito nella, carne, ha finito di peccare:
2 because for the rest of life on earth that person is ruled not by human passions but only by the wil ofGod.	2 Talmente che non pelle passioni degli uomini, ma pel volere di Dio nella carne viva quel, che gli resta di tempo.
3 You spent quite long enough in the past living the sort of life that gentiles choose to live, behaving in adebauched way, giving way to your passions, drinking to excess, having wild parties and drunken orgies andsacrilegiously worshipping false gods.	3 Imperocché basti l'aver nel tempo passato soddisfatti i capricci gentileschi a coloro, i quali si sono occupati nelle lussurie, nelle cupidità, nello sbevazzare, e nel bagordare, e nell'illecito culto degli idoli.
4 So people are taken aback that you no longer hurry off with them to join this flood which is rushingdown to ruin, and then abuse you for it.	4 Per la qual cosa sono fuori di loro stessi, e bestemmiano, perché voi non concorrete nello stesso obbrobrio di lussuria.
5 They wil have to answer for it before the judge who is to judge the living and the dead.	5 I quali renderan conto a colui, che è pronto a giudicare i vivi, e i morti.
6 And this was why the gospel was brought to the dead as wel , so that, though in their bodies they hadundergone the judgement that faces al humanity, in their spirit they might enjoy the life of God.	6 Imperocché per questo pure è stato predicato il vangelo a' morti: affinchè siano giudicati secondo gli uomini quanto alla carne, ma vivano secondo Dio quanto allo spirito.
7 The end of all things is near, so keep your minds calm and sober for prayer.	7 Or la fine delle cose tutte è vicina. Siate perciò prudenti, e vegliate nelle orazioni.
8 Above al preserve an intense love for each other, since love covers over many a sin.	8 Sopra tutto poi abbiate perseverante tra voi stessi la mutua carità: perché la carità cuopre la moltitudine de' peccati.
9 Welcome each other into your houses without grumbling.	9 Praticate l'ospitalità gli uni verso degli altri senza rimprocci.
10 Each one of you has received a special grace, so, like good stewards responsible for all these variedgraces of God, put it at the service of others.	10 Ciascheduuo secondo il dono ricevutone faccia scambievolmente copia agli altri, come i buoni dispensatori della moltiforme grazia di Dio.
11 If anyone is a speaker, let it be as the words of God, if anyone serves, let it be as in strength grantedby God; so that in everything God may receive the glory, through Jesus Christ, since to him alone belong alglory and power for ever and ever. Amen.	11 Chi parla, (parli) come parlari di Dio: chi è nel ministero, (lo usi) come una virtù comunicata da Dio: affinchè in tutto sia onorato Dio per Gesù Cristo: a cui è gloria, ed imperio ne' secoli de' secoli. Cosi sia.
12 My dear friends, do not be taken aback at the testing by fire which is taking place among you, asthough something strange were happening to you;	12 Carissimi, non vi stupite del gran fuoco accesovi contro per provarvi, come se cosa nuova vi avvenisse;
13 but in so far as you share in the sufferings of Christ, be glad, so that you may enjoy a much greatergladness when his glory is revealed.	13 Ma godetevi di partecipare ai patimenti di Cristo, affinchè ancora vi rallegriate, ed esultiate, quando si manifesterà la gloria di lui.
14 If you are insulted for bearing Christ's name, blessed are you, for on you rests the Spirit of God, theSpirit of glory.	14 Che se siete ignominiosamente trattati pel nome di Cristo, sarete beati: dappoiché l'onore, la gloria, e la virtù di Dio, e lo Spirito di lui in voi riposa.
15 None of you should ever deserve to suffer for being a murderer, a thief, a criminal or an informer;	15 Or che nissun di voi abbia a patir come omicida, o ladro, o maldicente, o insidiatore del ben altrui.
16 but if any one of you should suffer for being a Christian, then there must be no shame but thanksgiving to God for bearing this name.	16 Se poi, come cristiano, non se ne vergogni: ma Dio glorifichi per tal riguardo.
17 The time has come for the judgement to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, whatwil be the end for those who refuse to believe God's gospel?	17 Imperocché egli è tempo, che cominci il giudizio dalla casa di Dio. E se prima da noi: quale sarà la fine di coloro, che non ubbidiscono al vangelo di Dio?
18 If it is hard for the upright to be saved, what wil happen to the wicked and to sinners?	18 E se il giusto appena sarà salvato, dove compariranno l'empio, ed il peccatore?
19 So even those whom God allows to suffer should commit themselves to a Creator who is trustworthy,and go on doing good.	19 Per la qual cosa quegli ancora, i quali per volontà di Dio patiscono, raccommandino le anime loro al Creatore fedele per mezzo di buone opere.
