1 Peter 4

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 As Christ has undergone bodily suffering, you too should arm yourselves with the same conviction, thatanyone who has undergone bodily suffering has broken with sin,	1 Y ya que Cristo sufrió en su carne, compenétrense también ustedes de esta convicción: el que ha sufrido en la carne ha roto con el pecado. Porque el que sufre en la carne está libre del pecado,
2 because for the rest of life on earth that person is ruled not by human passions but only by the wil ofGod.	2 para vivir el resto de su vida mortal, no según los deseos humanos, sino según la voluntad de Dios.
3 You spent quite long enough in the past living the sort of life that gentiles choose to live, behaving in adebauched way, giving way to your passions, drinking to excess, having wild parties and drunken orgies andsacrilegiously worshipping false gods.	3 Ya han vivido bastante tiempo conforme al criterio de los paganos, entregándose a toda clase de desenfrenos, a los malos deseos, a las borracheras, a los excesos en la comida, a las orgías y al culto ilícito de los ídolos.
4 So people are taken aback that you no longer hurry off with them to join this flood which is rushingdown to ruin, and then abuse you for it.	4 Ahora los paganos se extrañan de que ustedes no se precipiten con ellos hacia ese desborde de libertinaje, y se deshacen en injurias contra ustedes.
5 They wil have to answer for it before the judge who is to judge the living and the dead.	5 De esto, tendrán que rendir cuenta a aquel que juzgará a los vivos y a los muertos.
6 And this was why the gospel was brought to the dead as wel , so that, though in their bodies they hadundergone the judgement that faces al humanity, in their spirit they might enjoy the life of God.	6 Porque la Buena Noticia ha sido anunciada a los muertos, para que ellos, después de haber sido juzgados en la carne conforme a su condición humana, vivan por el Espíritu con la vida de Dios.
7 The end of all things is near, so keep your minds calm and sober for prayer.	7 Ya se acerca el fin de todas las cosas: por eso, tengan la moderación y la sobriedad necesarias para poder orar.
8 Above al preserve an intense love for each other, since love covers over many a sin.	8 Sobre todo, ámense profundamente los unos a los otros, porque el amor cubre todos los pecados.
9 Welcome each other into your houses without grumbling.	9 Practiquen la hospitalidad, sin quejarse.
10 Each one of you has received a special grace, so, like good stewards responsible for all these variedgraces of God, put it at the service of others.	10 Pongan al servicio de los demás los dones que han recibido, como buenos administradores de la multiforme gracia de Dios.
11 If anyone is a speaker, let it be as the words of God, if anyone serves, let it be as in strength grantedby God; so that in everything God may receive the glory, through Jesus Christ, since to him alone belong alglory and power for ever and ever. Amen.	11 El que ha recibido el don de la Palabra, que la enseñe como Palabra de Dios. El que ejerce un ministerio, que lo haga como quien recibe de Dios ese poder, para que Dios sea glorificado en todas las cosas, por Jesucristo. ¡A él sea la gloria y el poder, por los siglos de los siglos! Amén.
12 My dear friends, do not be taken aback at the testing by fire which is taking place among you, asthough something strange were happening to you;	12 Queridos míos, no se extrañen de la violencia que se ha desatado contra ustedes para ponerlos a prueba, como si les sucediera algo extraordinario.
13 but in so far as you share in the sufferings of Christ, be glad, so that you may enjoy a much greatergladness when his glory is revealed.	13 Alégrense en la medida en que puedan compartir los sufrimientos de Cristo. Así, cuando se manifieste su gloria, ustedes también desbordarán de gozo y de alegría.
14 If you are insulted for bearing Christ's name, blessed are you, for on you rests the Spirit of God, theSpirit of glory.	14 Felices si son ultrajados por el nombre de Cristo, porque el Espíritu de gloria, el Espíritu de Dios, reposa sobre ustedes.
15 None of you should ever deserve to suffer for being a murderer, a thief, a criminal or an informer;	15 Que nadie tenga que sufrir como asesino, ladrón, malhechor o delator.
16 but if any one of you should suffer for being a Christian, then there must be no shame but thanksgiving to God for bearing this name.	16 Pero si sufre por ser cristiano, que no se avergüence y glorifique a Dios por llevar ese nombre.
17 The time has come for the judgement to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, whatwil be the end for those who refuse to believe God's gospel?	17 Porque ha llegado el tiempo en que comenzará el juicio, empezando por la casa de Dios. Ahora bien, si el juicio comienza por nosotros, ¿cuál será la suerte de los que se niegan a creer en la Buena Noticia de Dios?
18 If it is hard for the upright to be saved, what wil happen to the wicked and to sinners?	18 Si el justo apenas se salva, ¿qué pasará con el impío y el pecador?
19 So even those whom God allows to suffer should commit themselves to a Creator who is trustworthy,and go on doing good.	19 Por lo tanto, aquellos que sufren conforme a la voluntad de Dios, practiquen el bien, poniéndose en las manos de su Creador, que es fiel.
