1 Peter 4

NEW JERUSALEM	KÁLDI-NEOVULGÁTA
1 As Christ has undergone bodily suffering, you too should arm yourselves with the same conviction, thatanyone who has undergone bodily suffering has broken with sin,	1 Mivel tehát Krisztus testben szenvedett, ti is ugyanezzel a gondolattal fegyverkezzetek fel, mert aki testben szenvedett, megszűnt vétkezni,
2 because for the rest of life on earth that person is ruled not by human passions but only by the wil ofGod.	2 hogy már ne az emberi vágyaknak, hanem Isten akaratának éljen a testben még hátralevő időben.
3 You spent quite long enough in the past living the sort of life that gentiles choose to live, behaving in adebauched way, giving way to your passions, drinking to excess, having wild parties and drunken orgies andsacrilegiously worshipping false gods.	3 Mert elég, hogy az elmúlt időt a pogányok akarata szerint töltöttétek, és kicsapongásokban, tobzódásban, részegeskedésben, dorbézolásokban, tivornyázásokban, tiltott bálványimádásban éltetek.
4 So people are taken aback that you no longer hurry off with them to join this flood which is rushingdown to ruin, and then abuse you for it.	4 Most meg csodálkoznak, hogy nem tartotok velük ugyanezen érzékiség áradatában, és káromolnak titeket.
5 They wil have to answer for it before the judge who is to judge the living and the dead.	5 De számot fognak adni annak, aki készen áll ítélni eleveneket és holtakat.
6 And this was why the gospel was brought to the dead as wel , so that, though in their bodies they hadundergone the judgement that faces al humanity, in their spirit they might enjoy the life of God.	6 Mert azért hirdette Krisztus az evangéliumot a megholtaknak is, hogy bár test szerint, emberek módjára ítélet alá estek, de a Lélek szerint Istenben életük legyen.
7 The end of all things is near, so keep your minds calm and sober for prayer.	7 Közel van mindennek a vége. Legyetek tehát okosak, és ügyeljetek, hogy helyesen imádkozzatok!
8 Above al preserve an intense love for each other, since love covers over many a sin.	8 Mindenekelőtt pedig kölcsönös szeretettel legyetek egymás iránt szüntelenül, mert a szeretet sok bűnt eltakar !
9 Welcome each other into your houses without grumbling.	9 Legyetek vendégszeretők egymás iránt zúgolódás nélkül!
10 Each one of you has received a special grace, so, like good stewards responsible for all these variedgraces of God, put it at the service of others.	10 Mindegyiktek, ahogy kapta a kegyelmet, úgy adja tovább másnak is, mint jó intézői az Isten sokféle kegyelmének.
11 If anyone is a speaker, let it be as the words of God, if anyone serves, let it be as in strength grantedby God; so that in everything God may receive the glory, through Jesus Christ, since to him alone belong alglory and power for ever and ever. Amen.	11 Ha valaki beszél, mintegy Isten szavaival beszéljen; ha valaki szolgálatot tesz, mintha azzal az erővel tenné, amelyet Isten oszt ki, hogy mindenben Isten dicsősége valósuljon meg Jézus Krisztus által, akié a dicsőség és a hatalom mindörökkön örökké! Ámen.
12 My dear friends, do not be taken aback at the testing by fire which is taking place among you, asthough something strange were happening to you;	12 Szeretteim, ne lepődjetek meg azokon a perzselő szorongatásokon, amelyek megpróbáltatásul érnek benneteket, mintha valami hallatlan dolog esett volna veletek.
13 but in so far as you share in the sufferings of Christ, be glad, so that you may enjoy a much greatergladness when his glory is revealed.	13 Inkább örüljetek, hogy részetek lehet Krisztus szenvedéseiben, hogy amikor dicsősége kinyilvánul, vigadozva örvendezzetek.
14 If you are insulted for bearing Christ's name, blessed are you, for on you rests the Spirit of God, theSpirit of glory.	14 Ha szidalmaznak titeket Krisztus nevéért, boldogok vagytok, mert a dicsőség Lelke és Isten Lelke nyugszik rajtatok .
15 None of you should ever deserve to suffer for being a murderer, a thief, a criminal or an informer;	15 Közületek senkit se azért érjen szenvedés, mert gyilkos, vagy tolvaj, vagy gonosztevő, vagy a mások ügyébe avatkozik.
16 but if any one of you should suffer for being a Christian, then there must be no shame but thanksgiving to God for bearing this name.	16 Ha pedig mint keresztény szenved, ne szégyellje, hanem dicsőítse Istent ebben a névben.
17 The time has come for the judgement to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, whatwil be the end for those who refuse to believe God's gospel?	17 Itt az ideje ugyanis, hogy megkezdődjék az ítélet Isten házán. Ha pedig rajtunk kezdődik, mi lesz a vége azoknak, akik nem hisznek Isten evangéliumának?
18 If it is hard for the upright to be saved, what wil happen to the wicked and to sinners?	18 »Ha az igaz is alig üdvözül, mivé lesz az istentelen és a bűnös?«
19 So even those whom God allows to suffer should commit themselves to a Creator who is trustworthy,and go on doing good.	19 Ezért azok is, akik Isten akarata szerint szenvednek, ajánlják lelküket a hűséges Teremtőnek jótetteik által.
