1 Thessalonians 1

1 Paul, Silvanus and Timothy, to the Church in Thessalonica which is in God the Father and the LordJesus Christ. Grace to you and peace.	1 Paolo, Silvano e Timoteo, alla Chiesa dei Tessalonicesi, in Dio Padre e nel Signore Gesù Cristo:
2 We always thank God for you al , mentioning you in our prayers continually.	2 grazie a voi e pace. Noi rendiamo sempre grazie a Dio per tutti voi, facendo continuamente memoria, di voi nelle nostre orazioni,
3 We remember before our God and Father how active is the faith, how unsparing the love, howpersevering the hope which you have from our Lord Jesus Christ.	3 ricordandoci, davanti a Dio e Padre nostro, dell'opera della vostra fede, dei sacrifizi della vostra carità e della ferma vostra speranza nel Signore nostro Gesù Cristo,
4 We know, brothers loved by God, that you have been chosen,	4 sapendo, o fratelli da Dio amati, che siete degli eletti.
5 because our gospel came to you not only in words, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and withgreat effect. And you observed the sort of life we lived when we were with you, which was for your sake.	5 Infatti il nostro Vangelo tra di voi non fu solo a parole, ma anche nella virtù e nello Spirito Santo e in molto accertamento; voi del resto ben sapete quali siamo stati fra di voi per vostro bene.
6 You took us and the Lord as your model, welcoming the word with the joy of the Holy Spirit in spite ofgreat hardship.	6 E voi siete divenuti imitatori nostri e del Signore avendo ricevuto la Parola in mezzo a molte tribolazioni colla gioia dello Spirito Santo,
7 And so you became an example to al believers in Macedonia and Achaia	7 fino a divenire modello a tutti i credenti nella Macedonia e nell'Acaia.
8 since it was from you that the word of the Lord rang out -- and not only throughout Macedonia andAchaia, for your faith in God has spread everywhere. We do not need to tel other people about it:	8 Infatti da voi la parola di Dio si è divulgata, non solamente per la Macedonia e per l'Acaia, ma da perr tutto si è propagata anche la fama della fede che voi avete in Dio, e tanto che non abbiamo bisogno di parlarne;
9 other people tel us how we started the work among you, how you broke with the worship of false godswhen you were converted to God and became servants of the living and true God;	9 perchè la gente stessa parla di noi, raccontantando in che modo siamo venuti da voi e come vi siete convertiti dagli idoli a Dio, per servire all'iddio vivo e vero,
10 and how you are now waiting for Jesus, his Son, whom he raised from the dead, to come fromheaven. It is he who saves us from the Retribution which is coming.	10 e per aspettare dai cieli il suo Figliolo, che egli ha risuscitato da morte, Gesù, il quale ci ha salvati dall'ira ventura.
