1 Thessalonians 1

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 Paul, Silvanus and Timothy, to the Church in Thessalonica which is in God the Father and the LordJesus Christ. Grace to you and peace.	1 Pablo, Silvano y Timoteo a la Iglesia de los Tesalonicenses, en Dios Padre y en el Señor Jesucristo. A vosotros gracia y paz.
2 We always thank God for you al , mentioning you in our prayers continually.	2 En todo momento damos gracia a Dios por todos vosotros, recordándoos sin cesar en nuestras oraciones.
3 We remember before our God and Father how active is the faith, how unsparing the love, howpersevering the hope which you have from our Lord Jesus Christ.	3 Tenemos presente ante nuestro Dios y Padre la obra de vuestra fe, los trabajos de vuestra caridad, y la tenacidad de vuestra esperanza en Jesucristo nuestro Señor.
4 We know, brothers loved by God, that you have been chosen,	4 Conocemos, hermanos queridos de Dios, vuestra elección;
5 because our gospel came to you not only in words, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and withgreat effect. And you observed the sort of life we lived when we were with you, which was for your sake.	5 ya que os fue predicado nuestro Evangelio no sólo con palabras sino también con poder y con el Espíritu Santo, con plena persuasión. Sabéis cómo nos portamos entre vosotros en atención a vosotros.
6 You took us and the Lord as your model, welcoming the word with the joy of the Holy Spirit in spite ofgreat hardship.	6 Por vuestra parte, os hicisteis imitadores nuestros y del Señor, abrazando la Palabra con gozo del Espíritu Santo en medio de muchas tribulaciones.
7 And so you became an example to al believers in Macedonia and Achaia	7 De esta manera os habéis convertido en modelo para todos los creyentes de Macedonia y de Acaya.
8 since it was from you that the word of the Lord rang out -- and not only throughout Macedonia andAchaia, for your faith in God has spread everywhere. We do not need to tel other people about it:	8 Partiendo de vosotros, en efecto, ha resonado la Palabra del Señor y vuestra fe en Dios se ha difundido no sólo en Macedonia y en Acaya, sino por todas partes, de manera que nada nos queda por decir.
9 other people tel us how we started the work among you, how you broke with the worship of false godswhen you were converted to God and became servants of the living and true God;	9 Ellos mismos cuentan de nosotros cuál fue nuestra entrada a vosotros, y cómo os convertisteis a Dios, tras haber abandonado los ídolos, para servir a Dios vivo y verdadero,
10 and how you are now waiting for Jesus, his Son, whom he raised from the dead, to come fromheaven. It is he who saves us from the Retribution which is coming.	10 y esperar así a su Hijo Jesús que ha de venir de los cielos, a quien resucitó de entre los muertos y que nos salva de la Cólera venidera.
