1 Thessalonians 1

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 Paul, Silvanus and Timothy, to the Church in Thessalonica which is in God the Father and the LordJesus Christ. Grace to you and peace.	1 Paul, Silvain et Timothée, à l'Eglise des Thessaloniciens qui est en Dieu le Père et dans leSeigneur Jésus Christ. A vous grâce et paix.
2 We always thank God for you al , mentioning you in our prayers continually.	2 Nous rendons grâces à Dieu à tout moment pour vous tous, en faisant mention de voussans cesse dans nos prières.
3 We remember before our God and Father how active is the faith, how unsparing the love, howpersevering the hope which you have from our Lord Jesus Christ.	3 Nous nous rappelons en présence de notre Dieu et Père l'activité de votre foi, le labeur devotre charité, la constance de votre espérance, qui sont dus à notre Seigneur Jésus Christ.
4 We know, brothers loved by God, that you have been chosen,	4 Nous le savons, frères aimés de Dieu, vous avez été choisis.
5 because our gospel came to you not only in words, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and withgreat effect. And you observed the sort of life we lived when we were with you, which was for your sake.	5 Car notre Evangile ne s'est pas présenté à vous en paroles seulement, mais en puissance,dans l'action de l'Esprit Saint, en surabondance. De fait, vous savez comment nous nous sommes comportés aumilieu de vous pour votre service.
6 You took us and the Lord as your model, welcoming the word with the joy of the Holy Spirit in spite ofgreat hardship.	6 Et vous vous êtes mis à nous imiter, nous et le Seigneur, en accueillant la parole, parmibien des tribulations, avec la joie de l'Esprit Saint:
7 And so you became an example to al believers in Macedonia and Achaia	7 vous êtes ainsi devenus un modèle pour tous les croyants de Macédoine et d'Achaïe.
8 since it was from you that the word of the Lord rang out -- and not only throughout Macedonia andAchaia, for your faith in God has spread everywhere. We do not need to tel other people about it:	8 De chez vous, en effet, la parole du Seigneur a retenti, et pas seulement en Macédoine eten Achaïe, mais de tous côtés votre foi en Dieu s'est répandue, si bien que nous n'avons plus besoin d'en riendire.
9 other people tel us how we started the work among you, how you broke with the worship of false godswhen you were converted to God and became servants of the living and true God;	9 On raconte là-bas comment nous sommes venus chez vous, et comment vous vous êtestournés vers Dieu, abandonnant les idoles pour servir le Dieu vivant et véritable,
10 and how you are now waiting for Jesus, his Son, whom he raised from the dead, to come fromheaven. It is he who saves us from the Retribution which is coming.	10 dans l'attente de son Fils qui viendra des cieux, qu'il a ressuscité des morts, Jésus, quinous délivre de la colère qui vient.
