1 Paul, Silvanus and Timothy, to the Church in Thessalonica which is in God the Father and the LordJesus Christ. Grace to you and peace.	1 Lettre de Paul, Silvain et Timothée à l’Église des Thessaloniciens réunie en Dieu le Père et en Jésus Christ, le Seigneur. Que la grâce et la paix soient avec vous.
2 We always thank God for you al , mentioning you in our prayers continually.	2 À tout moment nous rendons grâces à Dieu pour vous tous et nous ne cessons de vous rappeler à son attention dans nos prières.
3 We remember before our God and Father how active is the faith, how unsparing the love, howpersevering the hope which you have from our Lord Jesus Christ.	3 Car nous n’oublions pas les travaux de votre foi, ni votre charité infatigable, ni votre espérance qui persévère dans l’attente de Jésus Christ, notre Seigneur, et tout cela nous le présentons à Dieu notre Père.
4 We know, brothers loved by God, that you have been chosen,	4 Frères bien-aimés de Dieu, nous n’oublions pas les circonstances de votre appel.
5 because our gospel came to you not only in words, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and withgreat effect. And you observed the sort of life we lived when we were with you, which was for your sake.	5 Chez vous notre bonne nouvelle n’est pas restée en paroles, mais elle avait tout pour convaincre, avec miracles et dons de l’Esprit Saint. Rappelez-vous comment nous avons agi au milieu de vous et pour vous.
6 You took us and the Lord as your model, welcoming the word with the joy of the Holy Spirit in spite ofgreat hardship.	6 Vous nous avez imités et vous avez imité le Seigneur quand vous avez accueilli la Parole avec la joie de l’Esprit Saint en dépit d’une forte persécution.
7 And so you became an example to al believers in Macedonia and Achaia	7 Finalement, vous êtes devenus un exemple pour tous les croyants de Macédoine et d’Achaïe.
8 since it was from you that the word of the Lord rang out -- and not only throughout Macedonia andAchaia, for your faith in God has spread everywhere. We do not need to tel other people about it:	8 De fait c’est à partir de vous que la parole du Seigneur s’est étendue à la Macédoine et l’Achaïe et bien au-delà: de tous côtés on a pu mesurer votre foi, si bien que nous n’avons pas besoin d’en parler.
9 other people tel us how we started the work among you, how you broke with the worship of false godswhen you were converted to God and became servants of the living and true God;	9 Ce sont eux qui disent l’accueil que nous avons trouvé chez vous et comment vous êtes passés des idoles à Dieu. Et vous avez commencé à servir le Dieu vivant et vrai,
10 and how you are now waiting for Jesus, his Son, whom he raised from the dead, to come fromheaven. It is he who saves us from the Retribution which is coming.	10 attendant que vienne du ciel Jésus, son Fils qu’il a ressuscité d’entre les morts, celui qui nous sauve du jugement à venir.
