1 Thessalonians 1

NEW JERUSALEM	NOVA VULGATA
1 Paul, Silvanus and Timothy, to the Church in Thessalonica which is in God the Father and the LordJesus Christ. Grace to you and peace.	1 Paulus et Silvanus et Timo theus ecclesiae Thessalonicen sium in DeoPatre et Domino Iesu Christo: gratia vobis et pax.
2 We always thank God for you al , mentioning you in our prayers continually.	2 Gratias agimus Deo semper pro omnibus vobis, memoriam facientes in orationibusnostris, sine intermissione;
3 We remember before our God and Father how active is the faith, how unsparing the love, howpersevering the hope which you have from our Lord Jesus Christ.	3 memores operis fidei vestrae et laboris caritatiset sustinentiae spei Domini nostri Iesu Christi ante Deum et Patrem nostrum;
4 We know, brothers loved by God, that you have been chosen,	4 scientes, fratres, dilecti a Deo, electionem vestram,
5 because our gospel came to you not only in words, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and withgreat effect. And you observed the sort of life we lived when we were with you, which was for your sake.	5 quia evangelium nostrumnon fuit ad vos in sermone tantum sed et in virtute et in Spiritu Sancto et inplenitudine multa, sicut scitis quales fuerimus vobis propter vos.
6 You took us and the Lord as your model, welcoming the word with the joy of the Holy Spirit in spite ofgreat hardship.	6 Et vos imitatores nostri facti estis et Domini, excipientes verbum intribulatione multa cum gaudio Spiritus Sancti,
7 And so you became an example to al believers in Macedonia and Achaia	7 ita ut facti sitis formaomnibus credentibus in Macedonia et in Achaia.
8 since it was from you that the word of the Lord rang out -- and not only throughout Macedonia andAchaia, for your faith in God has spread everywhere. We do not need to tel other people about it:	8 A vobis enim diffamatus estsermo Domini non solum in Macedonia et in Achaia, sed in omni loco fides vestra,quae est ad Deum, profecta est, ita ut non sit nobis necesse quidquam loqui;
9 other people tel us how we started the work among you, how you broke with the worship of false godswhen you were converted to God and became servants of the living and true God;	9 ipsi enim de nobis annuntiant qualem introitum habuerimus ad vos, et quomodoconversi estis ad Deum a simulacris, servire Deo vivo et vero
10 and how you are now waiting for Jesus, his Son, whom he raised from the dead, to come fromheaven. It is he who saves us from the Retribution which is coming.	10 et exspectareFilium eius de caelis, quem suscitavit ex mortuis, Iesum, qui eripit nos ab iraventura.
