1 Thessalonians 1

NEW JERUSALEM	MODERN HEBREW BIBLE
1 Paul, Silvanus and Timothy, to the Church in Thessalonica which is in God the Father and the LordJesus Christ. Grace to you and peace.	1 פולוס וסלונוס וטימותיוס אל קהלת התסלוניקים באלהים האב ובאדון ישוע המשיח חסד לכם ושלום מאת אלהים אבינו ואדנינו ישוע המשיח
2 We always thank God for you al , mentioning you in our prayers continually.	2 נודה לאלהים על כלכם בכל עת בהזכיר אתכם בתפלותינו
3 We remember before our God and Father how active is the faith, how unsparing the love, howpersevering the hope which you have from our Lord Jesus Christ.	3 בזכרנו תמיד לפני האלהים אבינו את פעל אמונתכם ויגיעת אהבתכם וסבלנות תקותכם לאדנינו ישוע המשיח
4 We know, brothers loved by God, that you have been chosen,	4 כי ידענו אחי חביבי האלהים את אשר נבחרתם
5 because our gospel came to you not only in words, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and withgreat effect. And you observed the sort of life we lived when we were with you, which was for your sake.	5 באשר בשורתנו לא היתה לכם בדבור לבד כי גם בגבורה וברוח הקדש ובדעת נאמנה מאד כאשר ידעתם גם אתם את אשר היינו בתוככם למענכם
6 You took us and the Lord as your model, welcoming the word with the joy of the Holy Spirit in spite ofgreat hardship.	6 ואתם הייתם הלכים בעקבותינו ובעקבות אדנינו בקבלכם את הדבר בתוך עני רב עם חדות רוח הקדש
7 And so you became an example to al believers in Macedonia and Achaia	7 עד היותכם מופת לכל המאמינים אשר במקדוניא ובאכיא
8 since it was from you that the word of the Lord rang out -- and not only throughout Macedonia andAchaia, for your faith in God has spread everywhere. We do not need to tel other people about it:	8 כי מאתכם נשמע קול דבר יהוה לא לבד במקדוניא ואכיא כי אם בכל מקום יצאה אמונתכם באלהים עד שאין לנו צרך לדבר דבר
9 other people tel us how we started the work among you, how you broke with the worship of false godswhen you were converted to God and became servants of the living and true God;	9 כי פיהם המספר מה היה מבואנו אליכם ואיך פניתם מעבודת אלילים ושבתם לאלהים לעבד את אל חי ואמתי
10 and how you are now waiting for Jesus, his Son, whom he raised from the dead, to come fromheaven. It is he who saves us from the Retribution which is coming.	10 ולחכות לבנו מן השמים אשר העירו מן המתים לישוע מצילנו מן החרון הבא
