Galatians 1

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 From Paul, an apostle appointed not by human beings nor through any human being but by JesusChrist and God the Father who raised him from the dead,	1 Paolo, apostolo non da uomini né in virtù di un uomo, ma in virtù di Gesù Cristo e di Dio Padre che lo risuscitò da morte,
2 and al the brothers who are with me, to the churches of Galatia.	2 e i fratelli tutti che sono con me, alle chiese della Galazia:
3 Grace and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ	3 grazia a voi e pace da Dio Padre nostro e dal Signore Gesù Cristo,
4 who gave himself for our sins to liberate us from this present wicked world, in accordance with the wil ofour God and Father,	4 che diede se stesso per i nostri peccati, allo scopo di sottrarci al mondo presente malvagio, secondo il disegno voluto dal nostro Dio e Padre,
5 to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.	5 al quale sia gloria per i secoli dei secoli: amen!
6 I am astonished that you are so promptly turning away from the one who cal ed you in the grace ofChrist and are going over to a different gospel-	6 Mi sorprende che così presto vi siate distaccati da Cristo, che vi aveva chiamati per la sua grazia, aderendo a un altro vangelo:
7 not that it is another gospel; except that there are trouble-makers among you who are seeking to pervertthe gospel of Christ.	7 non ne esiste un altro! Ma ci sono alcuni che mettono lo scompiglio fra di voi e vogliono stravolgere il vangelo di Cristo.
8 But even if we ourselves or an angel from heaven preaches to you a gospel other than the one wepreached to you, let God's curse be on him.	8 Ma se noi o un angelo disceso dal cielo annunciasse a voi un vangelo diverso da quello che vi abbiamo annunciato, sia votato alla maledizione divina!
9 I repeat again what we declared before: anyone who preaches to you a gospel other than the one youwere first given is to be under God's curse.	9 Come ho detto prima, anche in questo momento ripeto: se qualcuno vi annuncia un vangelo diverso da quello che voi riceveste, sia votato alla maledizione divina!
10 Whom am I trying to convince now, human beings or God? Am I trying to please human beings? If Iwere stil doing that I should not be a servant of Christ.	10 Adesso infatti cerco di ingannare gli uomini o Dio? Oppure cerco di piacere agli uomini? Se ancora cercassi di piacere agli uomini, non sarei servo di Cristo.
11 Now I want to make it quite clear to you, brothers, about the gospel that was preached by me, that itwas no human message.	11 Vi rendo noto infatti, fratelli, che il vangelo annunziato da me non è a misura di uomo:
12 It was not from any human being that I received it, and I was not taught it, but it came to me through arevelation of Jesus Christ.	12 infatti né io l'ho ricevuto da un uomo né da un uomo sono stato ammaestrato, ma da parte di Gesù Cristo, attraverso una rivelazione.
13 You have surely heard how I lived in the past, within Judaism, and how there was simply no limit to the way I persecuted the Church of God in my attempts to destroy it;	13 Udiste infatti il mio modo di comportarmi un tempo nel giudaismo: perseguitavo oltre ogni limite la chiesa di Dio e cercavo di rovesciarla,
14 and how, in Judaism, I outstripped most of my Jewish contemporaries in my limitless enthusiasm forthe traditions of my ancestors.	14 e mi ero spinto, nel giudaismo, oltre tutti i miei coetanei appartenenti al mio popolo, difensore fanatico com'ero, in misura maggiore di loro, delle tradizioni dei miei padri.
15 But when God, who had set me apart from the time when I was in my mother's womb, cal ed methrough his grace and chose	15 Quando poi piacque a Colui, che mi aveva separato fin dal seno di mia madre e mi aveva chiamato in forza della sua grazia,
16 to reveal his Son in me, so that I should preach him to the gentiles, I was in no hurry to confer with anyhuman being,	16 di rivelare il Figlio suo in me, affinché io lo annunziassi ai pagani, subito fin da allora non consultai alcun uomo
17 or to go up to Jerusalem to see those who were already apostles before me. Instead, I went off toArabia, and later I came back to Damascus.	17 né partii per Gerusalemme dagli apostoli miei predecessori, ma mi allontanai verso l'Arabia, e di nuovo tornai a Damasco.
18 Only after three years did I go up to Jerusalem to meet Cephas. I stayed fifteen days with him	18 In seguito, dopo tre anni, salii a Gerusalemme per prendere contatti con Cefa e mi trattenni presso di lui quindici giorni.
19 but did not set eyes on any of the rest of the apostles, only James, the Lord's brother.	19 Degli apostoli non vidi altri, ma soltanto Giacomo, il fratello del Signore.
20 I swear before God that what I have written is the truth.	20 Queste cose scrivo a voi: ecco, davanti a Dio attesto che non mentisco.
21 After that I went to places in Syria and Cilicia;	21 In seguito mi recai nelle regioni della Siria e della Cilicia.
22 and was stil unknown by sight to the churches of Judaea which are in Christ,	22 Personalmente ero sconosciuto alle chiese della Giudea che sono in Cristo;
23 they simply kept hearing it said, 'The man once so eager to persecute us is now preaching the faiththat he used to try to destroy,'	23 avevano solo sentito dire che "colui che un tempo ci perseguitava adesso annuncia quella fede che allora cercava di sovvertire",
24 and they gave glory to God for me.	24 e glorificavano Dio in rapporto a me.
