NEW JERUSALEM	EINHEITSUBERSETZUNG BIBEL
1 Is there any benefit, then, in being a Jew? Is there any advantage in being circumcised?	1 Was ist nun der Vorzug der Juden, der Nutzen der Beschneidung?
2 A great deal, in every way. First of al , it was to the Jews that the message of God was entrusted.	2 Er ist groß in jeder Hinsicht. Vor allem: Ihnen sind die Worte Gottes anvertraut.
3 What if some of them were unfaithful? Do you think their lack of faith could cancel God's faithfulness?	3 Wenn jedoch einige Gott die Treue gebrochen haben, wird dann etwa ihre Untreue die Treue Gottes aufheben?
4 Out of the question! God wil always be true even if no human being can be relied on. As scripturesays: That you may show your saving justice when you pass sentence and your victory may appear when yougive judgement.	4 Keineswegs! Gott soll sich als der Wahrhaftige erweisen, jeder Mensch aber als Lügner, wie es in der Schrift heißt: So behältst du Recht mit deinen Worten und trägst den Sieg davon, wenn man mit dir rechtet.
5 But if our injustice serves to bring God's saving justice into view, can we say that God is unjust when --to use human terms -- he brings his retribution down on us?	5 Wenn aber unsere Ungerechtigkeit die Gerechtigkeit Gottes bestätigt, was sagen wir dann? Ist Gott - ich frage sehr menschlich - nicht ungerecht, wenn er seinen Zorn walten lässt?
6 Out of the question! It would mean that God could not be the judge of the world.	6 Keineswegs! Denn wie könnte Gott die Welt sonst richten?
7 You might as wel say that if my untruthfulness makes God demonstrate his truthfulness, to his greaterglory, then I should not be judged to be a sinner at al .	7 Wenn aber die Wahrheit Gottes sich durch meine Unwahrheit als noch größer erweist und so Gott verherrlicht wird, warum werde ich dann als Sünder gerichtet?
8 In this case, the slanderous report some people are spreading would be true, that we teach that oneshould do evil that good may come of it. In fact such people are justly condemned.	8 Gilt am Ende das, womit man uns verleumdet und was einige uns in den Mund legen: Lasst uns Böses tun, damit Gutes entsteht? Diese Leute werden mit Recht verurteilt.
9 Wel : are we any better off? Not at al : we have already indicted Jews and Greeks as being al alikeunder the dominion of sin.	9 Was heißt das nun? Sind wir als Juden im Vorteil? Ganz und gar nicht. Denn wir haben vorher die Anklage erhoben, dass alle, Juden wie Griechen, unter der Herrschaft der Sünde stehen,
10 As scripture says: Not one of them is upright, not a single one,	10 wie es in der Schrift heißt: Es gibt keinen, der gerecht ist, auch nicht einen;
11 not a single one is wise, not a single one seeks God.	11 es gibt keinen Verständigen, keinen, der Gott sucht.
12 Al have turned away, all alike turned sour, not one of them does right, not a single one.	12 Alle sind abtrünnig geworden, alle miteinander taugen nichts. Keiner tut Gutes, auch nicht ein Einziger.
13 Their throats are wide -- open graves, their tongues seductive. Viper's venom behind their lips;	13 Ihre Kehle ist ein offenes Grab, mit ihrer Zunge betrügen sie; Schlangengift ist auf ihren Lippen.
14 their speech is ful of cursing and bitterness.	14 Ihr Mund ist voll Fluch und Gehässigkeit.
15 Their feet quick to shed innocent blood,	15 Schnell sind sie dabei, Blut zu vergießen;
16 wherever they go there is havoc and ruin.	16 Verderben und Unheil sind auf ihren Wegen,
17 They do not know the way of peace,	17 und den Weg des Friedens kennen sie nicht.
18 there is no fear of God before their eyes.	18 Die Gottesfurcht steht ihnen nicht vor Augen.
19 Now we are wel aware that whatever the Law says is said for those who are subject to the Law, sothat every mouth may be silenced, and the whole world brought under the judgement of God.	19 Wir wissen aber: Was das Gesetz sagt, sagt es denen, die unter dem Gesetz leben, damit jeder Mund verstummt und die ganze Welt vor Gott schuldig wird.
20 So then, no human being can be found upright at the tribunal of God by keeping the Law; al that theLaw does is to tell us what is sinful.	20 Denn durch Werke des Gesetzes wird niemand vor ihm gerecht werden; durch das Gesetz kommt es vielmehr zur Erkenntnis der Sünde.
21 God's saving justice was witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, but now it has been revealedaltogether apart from law:	21 Jetzt aber ist unabhängig vom Gesetz die Gerechtigkeit Gottes offenbart worden, bezeugt vom Gesetz und von den Propheten:
22 God's saving justice given through faith in Jesus Christ to al who believe.	22 die Gerechtigkeit Gottes aus dem Glauben an Jesus Christus, offenbart für alle, die glauben. Denn es gibt keinen Unterschied:
23 No distinction is made: all have sinned and lack God's glory,	23 Alle haben gesündigt und die Herrlichkeit Gottes verloren.
24 and all are justified by the free gift of his grace through being set free in Christ Jesus.	24 Ohne es verdient zu haben, werden sie gerecht, dank seiner Gnade, durch die Erlösung in Christus Jesus.
25 God appointed him as a sacrifice for reconciliation, through faith, by the shedding of his blood, and soshowed his justness; first for the past, when sins went unpunished because he held his hand;	25 Ihn hat Gott dazu bestimmt, Sühne zu leisten mit seinem Blut, Sühne, wirksam durch Glauben. So erweist Gott seine Gerechtigkeit durch die Vergebung der Sünden, die früher, in der Zeit seiner Geduld, begangen wurden;
26 and now again for the present age, to show how he is just and justifies everyone who has faith inJesus.	26 er erweist seine Gerechtigkeit in der gegenwärtigen Zeit, um zu zeigen, dass er gerecht ist und den gerecht macht, der an Jesus glaubt.
27 So what becomes of our boasts? There is no room for them. On what principle- that only actionscount? No; that faith is what counts,	27 Kann man sich da noch rühmen? Das ist ausgeschlossen. Durch welches Gesetz? Durch das der Werke? Nein, durch das Gesetz des Glaubens.
28 since, as we see it, a person is justified by faith and not by doing what the Law tel s him to do.	28 Denn wir sind der Überzeugung, dass der Mensch gerecht wird durch Glauben, unabhängig von Werken des Gesetzes.
29 Do you think God is the God only of the Jews, and not of gentiles too? Most certainly of gentiles too,	29 Ist denn Gott nur der Gott der Juden, nicht auch der Heiden? Ja, auch der Heiden,
30 since there is only one God; he will justify the circumcised by their faith, and he will justify theuncircumcised through their faith.	30 da doch gilt: Gott ist «der Eine». Er wird aufgrund des Glaubens sowohl die Beschnittenen wie die Unbeschnittenen gerecht machen.
31 Are we saying that the Law has been made pointless by faith? Out of the question; we are placing theLaw on its true footing.	31 Setzen wir nun durch den Glauben das Gesetz außer Kraft? Im Gegenteil, wir richten das Gesetz auf.
