NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Is there any benefit, then, in being a Jew? Is there any advantage in being circumcised?	1 ¿Cuál es entonces la superioridad del judío, y qué utilidad tiene la circuncisión?
2 A great deal, in every way. First of al , it was to the Jews that the message of God was entrusted.	2 Las ventajas con muchas desde todo punto de vista. Ante todo, Dios confió su Palabra a los judíos.
3 What if some of them were unfaithful? Do you think their lack of faith could cancel God's faithfulness?	3 ¿Y que importa que algunos no hayan creído? ¿Acaso su incredulidad anulará la fidelidad de Dios?
4 Out of the question! God wil always be true even if no human being can be relied on. As scripturesays: That you may show your saving justice when you pass sentence and your victory may appear when yougive judgement.	4 De ninguna manera: Dios es veraz, y todo hombre, mentiroso, porque como dice la Escritura: "Serás reconocido como justo por lo que dices y triunfarás cuando seas juzgado".
5 But if our injustice serves to bring God's saving justice into view, can we say that God is unjust when --to use human terms -- he brings his retribution down on us?	5 Ahora bien, si nuestra injusticia hace resaltar la justicia de Dios, ¿qué conclusión sacaremos? ¿Dios será injusto –me expreso en términos humanos– al dar libre curso a su ira?
6 Out of the question! It would mean that God could not be the judge of the world.	6 De ningún modo. De lo contrario, ¿cómo podría Dios juzgar al mundo?
7 You might as wel say that if my untruthfulness makes God demonstrate his truthfulness, to his greaterglory, then I should not be judged to be a sinner at al .	7 Pero si con mi mentira, la verdad de Dios sale ganando, para gloria suya, ¿por qué todavía voy a ser condenado como pecador?
8 In this case, the slanderous report some people are spreading would be true, that we teach that oneshould do evil that good may come of it. In fact such people are justly condemned.	8 ¿O debemos hacer el mal para que resulte el bien, como algunos calumniadores nos hacen decir? ¡Estos sí merecen ser condenados!
9 Wel : are we any better off? Not at al : we have already indicted Jews and Greeks as being al alikeunder the dominion of sin.	9 En definitiva, entonces, ¿somos o no superiores a los paganos? De ninguna manera.
10 As scripture says: Not one of them is upright, not a single one,	10 Porque acabamos de probar que todos están sometidos al pecado, tanto los judíos como los que no lo son. Así lo afirma la Escritura: "No hay ningún justo, ni siquiera uno;
11 not a single one is wise, not a single one seeks God.	11 no hay nadie que comprenda, nadie que busque a Dios.
12 Al have turned away, all alike turned sour, not one of them does right, not a single one.	12 Todos están extraviados, igualmente corrompidos; nadie practica el bien, ni siquiera uno solo.
13 Their throats are wide -- open graves, their tongues seductive. Viper's venom behind their lips;	13 Su garganta es un sepulcro abierto; engañan con su lengua, sus labios destilan veneno de víboras,
14 their speech is ful of cursing and bitterness.	14 su boca está llena de maldición y amargura.
15 Their feet quick to shed innocent blood,	15 Sus pies son rápidos para derramar sangre,
16 wherever they go there is havoc and ruin.	16 en sus caminos hay ruina y miseria,
17 They do not know the way of peace,	17 no conocen la senda de la paz.
18 there is no fear of God before their eyes.	18 El temor de Dios no está ante sus ojos".
19 Now we are wel aware that whatever the Law says is said for those who are subject to the Law, sothat every mouth may be silenced, and the whole world brought under the judgement of God.	19 Ahora bien, nosotros sabemos que todo lo que dice la Ley es válido solamente para los que están bajo la Ley, a fin de que nadie pueda alegar inocencia y todo el mundo sea reconocido culpable delante de Dios.
20 So then, no human being can be found upright at the tribunal of God by keeping the Law; al that theLaw does is to tell us what is sinful.	20 Porque a los ojos de Dios, nadie será justificado por las obras de la Ley, ya que la Ley se limita a hacernos conocer el pecado.
21 God's saving justice was witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, but now it has been revealedaltogether apart from law:	21 Pero ahora, sin la Ley, se ha manifestado la justicia de Dios atestiguada por la Ley y los Profetas:
22 God's saving justice given through faith in Jesus Christ to al who believe.	22 la justicia de Dios, por la fe en Jesucristo, para todos los que creen. Porque no hay ninguna distinción:
23 No distinction is made: all have sinned and lack God's glory,	23 todos han pecado y están privados de la gloria de Dios,
24 and all are justified by the free gift of his grace through being set free in Christ Jesus.	24 pero son injustificados gratuitamente por su gracia, en virtud de la redención cumplida en Cristo Jesús.
25 God appointed him as a sacrifice for reconciliation, through faith, by the shedding of his blood, and soshowed his justness; first for the past, when sins went unpunished because he held his hand;	25 El fue puesto por Dios como instrumento de propiciación por su propia sangre, gracias a la fe. De esa manera, Dios ha querido mostrar su justicia:
26 and now again for the present age, to show how he is just and justifies everyone who has faith inJesus.	26 en el tiempo de la paciencia divina, pasando por alto los pecados cometidos anteriormente, y en el tiempo presente, siendo justo y justificado a los que creen en Jesús.
27 So what becomes of our boasts? There is no room for them. On what principle- that only actionscount? No; that faith is what counts,	27 ¿Qué derecho hay entonces para gloriarse? Ninguna. Pero, ¿en virtud de qué ley se excluye ese derecho? ¿Por la ley de las obras? No, sino por la ley de la fe.
28 since, as we see it, a person is justified by faith and not by doing what the Law tel s him to do.	28 Porque nosotros estimamos que le hombre es justificado por la fe, sin las obras de la Ley.
29 Do you think God is the God only of the Jews, and not of gentiles too? Most certainly of gentiles too,	29 ¿Acaso Dios es solamente el Dios de los judíos? ¿No lo es también de los paganos? Evidentemente que sí,
30 since there is only one God; he will justify the circumcised by their faith, and he will justify theuncircumcised through their faith.	30 porque no hay más que un solo Dios, que justifica por medio de la fe tanto a los judíos circuncidados como a los paganos incircuncisos.
31 Are we saying that the Law has been made pointless by faith? Out of the question; we are placing theLaw on its true footing.	31 Entonces, ¿por medio de la fe, anulamos la Ley? ¡Ni pensarlo! Por el contrario, la confirmamos.
