NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 So no matter who you are, if you pass judgement you have no excuse. It is yourself that you condemnwhen you judge others, since you behave in the same way as those you are condemning.	1 Tu dunque, o uomo, chiunque tu sia, ti rondi inescusabile, perchè nel giudicare gli altri condanni te stesso, facendo le medesime coso che tu condanni.
2 We are well aware that people who behave like that are justly condemned by God.	2 Or noi sappiamo che il giudizio di Dio contro coloro che fanno tali cose è secondo verità.
3 But you -- when you judge those who behave like this while you are doing the same yourself -- do youthink you wil escape God's condemnation?	3 E tu, o uomo che giudichi quelli che fanno tali cose e le fai, credi forse di sfuggire al giudizio di Dio?
4 Or are you not disregarding his abundant goodness, tolerance and patience, failing to realise that this generosity of God is meant to bring you to repentance?	4 Ovvero disprezzi le ricchezze della sua bontà, della sua pazienza, della sua tolleranza? E non sai die la bontà di Dio t'invita a penitenza?
5 Your stubborn refusal to repent is only storing up retribution for yourself on that Day of retribution whenGod's just verdicts wil be made known.	5 Ma tu, colla tua durezza e col cuore impenitente, ti accumuli un tesoro d'ira pel giorno dell'ira e della manifestazione del giusto giudizio di Dio,
6 He wil repay everyone as their deeds deserve.	6 che renderà a ciascuno secondo le opere:
7 For those who aimed for glory and honour and immortality by persevering in doing good, there will beeternal life;	7 a quelli che, perseveranti nel bone, cercano la gloria, l'onore e l'immortalità, la vita eterna;
8 but for those who out of jealousy have taken for their guide not truth but injustice, there wil be the furyof retribution.	8 a quelli che, ostinati, non dànno retta alla verità, ma obbediscono all'ingiustizia, ira e indignaziono.
9 Trouble and distress wil come to every human being who does evil -- Jews first, but Greeks as wel ;	9 Tribolazione ed angoscia sopra ogni anima d'uomo che fa il male, del Giudeo prima, poi del Greco;
10 glory and honour and peace will come to everyone who does good -- Jews first, but Greeks as wel .	10 gloria e onore e pace a chiunque fa il bene, al Giudeo prima, poi al Greco;
11 There is no favouritism with God.	11 perchè non v'è accettazione di persone avanti a Dio.
12 Al those who have sinned without the Law wil perish without the Law; and those under the Law whohave sinned wil be judged by the Law.	12 Tutti quelli che senza legge hanno peccato, senza legge periranno; e tutti quelli che sotto una legge han peccato, saranno da essa condannati;
13 For the ones that God wil justify are not those who have heard the Law but those who have kept theLaw.	13 non quelli infatti che ascoltano la legge son giusti dinanzi a Dio, ma quelli che la mettono in pratica saranno giustificati.
14 So, when gentiles, not having the Law, still through their own innate sense behave as the Lawcommands, then, even though they have no Law, they are a law for themselves.	14 Quando i Gentili, che non hanno legge, fanno naturalmente ciò che la legge impone, non avendo legge, son legge a se stessi;
15 They can demonstrate the effect of the Law engraved on their hearts, to which their own consciencebears witness; since they are aware of various considerations, some of which accuse them, while others providethem with a defence . . . on the day when,	15 e mostrano che il tenor della legge è scritto nel loro cuore, testimone la loro coscienza ed i pensieri che a vicenda tra di loro accusano od anche difendono,
16 according to the gospel that I preach, God, through Jesus Christ, judges all human secrets.	16 nel giorno in cui, secondo il mio Vangelo, Dio giudicherà per mezzo di Gesù Cristo le azioni segrete degli uomini.
17 If you can cal yourself a Jew, and you real y trust in the Law, and are proud of your God,	17 Tu che porti il nome di Giudeo e ti riposi nella legge e ti glorii di Dio,
18 and know his wil , and tel right from wrong because you have been taught by the Law;	18 e conosci la sua volontà, e, istruito nella legge, distingui quel che più giova,
19 if you are confident that you are a guide to the blind and a beacon to those in the dark,	19 o ti credi d'esser guida ai ciechi, luce a quelli che son nelle tenebre,
20 that you can teach the ignorant and instruct the unlearned because the Law embodies all knowledgeand all truth-	20 dottore degl'ignoranti, maestro dei fanciulli, perchè hai nella legge la regola della scienza e della verità,
21 so then, in teaching others, do you teach yourself as wel ? You preach that there is to be no stealing,but do you steal?	21 come mai, dunque, tu che insegni agli altri, non insegni a te stesso? Tu che predichi di non rubare, rubi?
22 You say that adultery is forbidden, but do you commit adultery? You detest the worship of objects, butdo you desecrate holy things yourself?	22 Tu che dici non doversi commettere adulterio, sei adultero? Tu che hai in abominio gli idoli, fai sacrilegio?
23 If, while you are boasting of the Law, you disobey it, then you are bringing God into contempt.	23 Tu che ti vanti della legge, violandola, disonori Dio?
24 As scripture says: It is your fault that the name of God is held in contempt among the nations.	24 Per cagion vostra il nome di Dio (come sta scritto) è bestemmiato tra le Genti.
25 Circumcision has its value if you keep the Law; but if you go on breaking the Law, you are no morecircumcised than the uncircumcised.	25 Certo, la circoncisione giova se tu osservi la legge, ma se tu la trasgredisci, con la tua circoncisione sei un incirconciso.
26 And if an uncircumcised man keeps the commands of the Law, wil not his uncircumcised state countas circumcision?	26 Se invece un incirconciso osserva i precetti della logge, la sua incirconcisione non sarà considerata come circoncisione?
27 More, the man who, in his native uncircumcised state, keeps the Law, is a condemnation of you, who,by your concentration on the letter and on circumcision, actual y break the Law.	27 Quindi chi per nascita è incirconciso, se osserva la legge, giudicherà te, che, colla Scrittura, e colla circoncisione, trasgredisci la legge.
28 Being a Jew is not only having the outward appearance of a Jew, and circumcision is not only avisible physical operation.	28 Vero Giudeo non è chi tale apparisce, nè è circoncisione quella che si manifesta nella carne;
29 The real Jew is the one who is inwardly a Jew, and real circumcision is in the heart, a thing not of theletter but of the spirit. He may not be praised by any human being, but he wil be praised by God.	29 ma Giudeo è colui che tale interiormente è; la circoncisione è quella del cuore, secondo lo spirito e non secondo la lettera. Questa avrà lode non dagli uomini, ma da Dio.
