NEW JERUSALEM	EINHEITSUBERSETZUNG BIBEL
1 So no matter who you are, if you pass judgement you have no excuse. It is yourself that you condemnwhen you judge others, since you behave in the same way as those you are condemning.	1 Darum bist du unentschuldbar - wer du auch bist, Mensch -, wenn du richtest. Denn worin du den andern richtest, darin verurteilst du dich selber, da du, der Richtende, dasselbe tust.
2 We are well aware that people who behave like that are justly condemned by God.	2 Wir wissen aber, dass Gottes Gericht über alle, die solche Dinge tun, der Wahrheit entspricht.
3 But you -- when you judge those who behave like this while you are doing the same yourself -- do youthink you wil escape God's condemnation?	3 Meinst du etwa, du könntest dem Gericht Gottes entrinnen, wenn du die richtest, die solche Dinge tun, und dasselbe tust wie sie?
4 Or are you not disregarding his abundant goodness, tolerance and patience, failing to realise that this generosity of God is meant to bring you to repentance?	4 Verachtest du etwa den Reichtum seiner Güte, Geduld und Langmut? Weißt du nicht, dass Gottes Güte dich zur Umkehr treibt?
5 Your stubborn refusal to repent is only storing up retribution for yourself on that Day of retribution whenGod's just verdicts wil be made known.	5 Weil du aber starrsinnig bist und dein Herz nicht umkehrt, sammelst du Zorn gegen dich für den «Tag des Zornes», den Tag der Offenbarung von Gottes gerechtem Gericht.
6 He wil repay everyone as their deeds deserve.	6 Er wird jedem vergelten, wie es seine Taten verdienen:
7 For those who aimed for glory and honour and immortality by persevering in doing good, there will beeternal life;	7 denen, die beharrlich Gutes tun und Herrlichkeit, Ehre und Unvergänglichkeit erstreben, gibt er ewiges Leben,
8 but for those who out of jealousy have taken for their guide not truth but injustice, there wil be the furyof retribution.	8 denen aber, die selbstsüchtig nicht der Wahrheit, sondern der Ungerechtigkeit gehorchen, widerfährt Zorn und Grimm.
9 Trouble and distress wil come to every human being who does evil -- Jews first, but Greeks as wel ;	9 Not und Bedrängnis wird jeden Menschen treffen, der das Böse tut, zuerst den Juden, aber ebenso den Griechen;
10 glory and honour and peace will come to everyone who does good -- Jews first, but Greeks as wel .	10 Herrlichkeit, Ehre und Friede werden jedem zuteil, der das Gute tut, zuerst dem Juden, aber ebenso dem Griechen;
11 There is no favouritism with God.	11 denn Gott richtet ohne Ansehen der Person.
12 Al those who have sinned without the Law wil perish without the Law; and those under the Law whohave sinned wil be judged by the Law.	12 Alle, die sündigten, ohne das Gesetz zu haben, werden auch ohne das Gesetz zugrunde gehen und alle, die unter dem Gesetz sündigten, werden durch das Gesetz gerichtet werden.
13 For the ones that God wil justify are not those who have heard the Law but those who have kept theLaw.	13 Nicht die sind vor Gott gerecht, die das Gesetz hören, sondern er wird die für gerecht erklären, die das Gesetz tun.
14 So, when gentiles, not having the Law, still through their own innate sense behave as the Lawcommands, then, even though they have no Law, they are a law for themselves.	14 Wenn Heiden, die das Gesetz nicht haben, von Natur aus das tun, was im Gesetz gefordert ist, so sind sie, die das Gesetz nicht haben, sich selbst Gesetz.
15 They can demonstrate the effect of the Law engraved on their hearts, to which their own consciencebears witness; since they are aware of various considerations, some of which accuse them, while others providethem with a defence . . . on the day when,	15 Sie zeigen damit, dass ihnen die Forderung des Gesetzes ins Herz geschrieben ist; ihr Gewissen legt Zeugnis davon ab, ihre Gedanken klagen sich gegenseitig an und verteidigen sich -
16 according to the gospel that I preach, God, through Jesus Christ, judges all human secrets.	16 an jenem Tag, an dem Gott, wie ich es in meinem Evangelium verkündige, das, was im Menschen verborgen ist, durch Jesus Christus richten wird.
17 If you can cal yourself a Jew, and you real y trust in the Law, and are proud of your God,	17 Du nennst dich zwar Jude und verlässt dich auf das Gesetz, du rühmst dich deines Gottes,
18 and know his wil , and tel right from wrong because you have been taught by the Law;	18 du kennst seinen Willen und du willst, aus dem Gesetz belehrt, beurteilen, worauf es ankommt;
19 if you are confident that you are a guide to the blind and a beacon to those in the dark,	19 du traust dir zu, Führer zu sein für Blinde, Licht für die in der Finsternis,
20 that you can teach the ignorant and instruct the unlearned because the Law embodies all knowledgeand all truth-	20 Erzieher der Unverständigen, Lehrer der Unmündigen, einer, für den im Gesetz Erkenntnis und Wahrheit feste Gestalt besitzen.
21 so then, in teaching others, do you teach yourself as wel ? You preach that there is to be no stealing,but do you steal?	21 Du belehrst andere Menschen, dich selbst aber belehrst du nicht. Du predigst: Du sollst nicht stehlen!, und stiehlst.
22 You say that adultery is forbidden, but do you commit adultery? You detest the worship of objects, butdo you desecrate holy things yourself?	22 Du sagst: Du sollst die Ehe nicht brechen!, und brichst die Ehe. Du verabscheust die Götzenbilder, begehst aber Tempelraub.
23 If, while you are boasting of the Law, you disobey it, then you are bringing God into contempt.	23 Du rühmst dich des Gesetzes, entehrst aber Gott durch Übertreten des Gesetzes.
24 As scripture says: It is your fault that the name of God is held in contempt among the nations.	24 Denn in der Schrift steht: Euretwegen wird unter den Heiden der Name Gottes gelästert.
25 Circumcision has its value if you keep the Law; but if you go on breaking the Law, you are no morecircumcised than the uncircumcised.	25 Die Beschneidung ist nützlich, wenn du das Gesetz befolgst; übertrittst du jedoch das Gesetz, so bist du trotz deiner Beschneidung zum Unbeschnittenen geworden.
26 And if an uncircumcised man keeps the commands of the Law, wil not his uncircumcised state countas circumcision?	26 Wenn aber der Unbeschnittene die Forderungen des Gesetzes beachtet, wird dann nicht sein Unbeschnittensein als Beschneidung angerechnet werden?
27 More, the man who, in his native uncircumcised state, keeps the Law, is a condemnation of you, who,by your concentration on the letter and on circumcision, actual y break the Law.	27 Der leiblich Unbeschnittene, der das Gesetz erfüllt, wird dich richten, weil du trotz Buchstabe und Beschneidung ein Übertreter des Gesetzes bist.
28 Being a Jew is not only having the outward appearance of a Jew, and circumcision is not only avisible physical operation.	28 Jude ist nicht, wer es nach außen hin ist, und Beschneidung ist nicht, was sichtbar am Fleisch geschieht,
29 The real Jew is the one who is inwardly a Jew, and real circumcision is in the heart, a thing not of theletter but of the spirit. He may not be praised by any human being, but he wil be praised by God.	29 sondern Jude ist, wer es im Verborgenen ist, und Beschneidung ist, was am Herzen durch den Geist, nicht durch den Buchstaben geschieht. Der Ruhm eines solchen Juden kommt nicht von Menschen, sondern von Gott.
