NEW JERUSALEM	KÁLDI-NEOVULGÁTA
1 So no matter who you are, if you pass judgement you have no excuse. It is yourself that you condemnwhen you judge others, since you behave in the same way as those you are condemning.	1 Nincs tehát mentség számodra, bárki légy, te ember, aki ítélkezel; mert azzal, hogy mást elítélsz, önmagadat ítéled el, hiszen te, aki ítélkezel, hasonlókat teszel.
2 We are well aware that people who behave like that are justly condemned by God.	2 Márpedig tudjuk, hogy Isten ítélete igazságosan éri azokat, akik ilyeneket tesznek.
3 But you -- when you judge those who behave like this while you are doing the same yourself -- do youthink you wil escape God's condemnation?	3 Vagy azt gondolod, te ember, hogy megmenekülsz Isten ítélete elől, amikor azt teszed, amiért elítélsz másokat, akik ilyeneket tesznek?
4 Or are you not disregarding his abundant goodness, tolerance and patience, failing to realise that this generosity of God is meant to bring you to repentance?	4 Vagy megveted jóságának, türelmének és hosszantűrésének gazdagságát, s nem fogod fel, hogy Isten jósága megtérésre vezet?
5 Your stubborn refusal to repent is only storing up retribution for yourself on that Day of retribution whenGod's just verdicts wil be made known.	5 Pedig konokságod és megátalkodott szíved által haragot halmozol magadra, a harag napjára, amikor Isten igazságos ítélete megnyilvánul,
6 He wil repay everyone as their deeds deserve.	6 s ő majd megfizet mindenkinek tettei szerint :
7 For those who aimed for glory and honour and immortality by persevering in doing good, there will beeternal life;	7 örök élettel azoknak, akik a jócselekedetben való kitartásukkal dicsőséget, tisztességet és halhatatlanságot keresnek,
8 but for those who out of jealousy have taken for their guide not truth but injustice, there wil be the furyof retribution.	8 haraggal és dühvel azoknak, akik szembeszállnak vele, és nem engedelmeskednek az igazságnak, hanem a gonoszságnak hisznek.
9 Trouble and distress wil come to every human being who does evil -- Jews first, but Greeks as wel ;	9 Gyötrelem és kín lesz minden embernek, aki gonoszat tesz, elsősorban a zsidónak, aztán a görögnek;
10 glory and honour and peace will come to everyone who does good -- Jews first, but Greeks as wel .	10 viszont dicsőség, tisztesség és béke lesz mindenkinek, aki jót cselekszik, elsősorban a zsidónak, aztán a görögnek.
11 There is no favouritism with God.	11 Mert Istennél nincs személyválogatás.
12 Al those who have sinned without the Law wil perish without the Law; and those under the Law whohave sinned wil be judged by the Law.	12 Mindazok ugyanis, akik törvény nélkül vannak és vétkeztek, elvesznek a törvény nélkül is; mindazokat pedig, akik a törvény alatt vétkeztek, a törvény alapján ítélik el,
13 For the ones that God wil justify are not those who have heard the Law but those who have kept theLaw.	13 mert nem a törvény hallgatói igazak Isten előtt, hanem a törvény megtartói nyernek megigazulást.
14 So, when gentiles, not having the Law, still through their own innate sense behave as the Lawcommands, then, even though they have no Law, they are a law for themselves.	14 Amikor ugyanis a pogányok, kiknek nincs törvényük, természettől vezérelve megteszik a törvényben foglaltakat, akkor – noha törvényük nincsen, ők maguk a törvény maguknak,
15 They can demonstrate the effect of the Law engraved on their hearts, to which their own consciencebears witness; since they are aware of various considerations, some of which accuse them, while others providethem with a defence . . . on the day when,	15 és így megmutatják, hogy a törvény követése a szívükbe van írva. 17 If you can cal yourself a Jew, and you real y trust in the Law, and are proud of your God,	17 Ha tehát zsidó a neved, s megnyugvást találsz a törvényben, és dicsekvésed az Isten,
18 and know his wil , and tel right from wrong because you have been taught by the Law;	18 ismered az akaratát, felismered, mi a helyes, mert a törvény által oktatást nyertél,
19 if you are confident that you are a guide to the blind and a beacon to those in the dark,	19 és azt hiszed, hogy a vakoknak vezetője, a sötétségben levők világossága,
20 that you can teach the ignorant and instruct the unlearned because the Law embodies all knowledgeand all truth-	20 az oktalanok oktatója, a kisdedek nevelője vagy, aki megkaptad a törvényben a tudás és az igazság formáját;
21 so then, in teaching others, do you teach yourself as wel ? You preach that there is to be no stealing,but do you steal?	21 nos tehát te, aki mást tanítasz, önmagadat nem tanítod? Aki másnak hirdeted, hogy nem szabad lopni, te lopsz?
22 You say that adultery is forbidden, but do you commit adultery? You detest the worship of objects, butdo you desecrate holy things yourself?	22 Aki azt mondod, hogy nem szabad házasságot törni, házasságot törsz? Aki utálod a bálványokat, templomokat rabolsz ki?
23 If, while you are boasting of the Law, you disobey it, then you are bringing God into contempt.	23 Aki kérkedsz a törvénnyel, a törvény megszegésével gyalázod az Istent?
24 As scripture says: It is your fault that the name of God is held in contempt among the nations.	24 »Miattatok káromolják Isten nevét a nemzetek között«, amint írva van .
25 Circumcision has its value if you keep the Law; but if you go on breaking the Law, you are no morecircumcised than the uncircumcised.	25 A körülmetélkedés használ ugyan, ha a törvényt megtartod, de ha a törvényt áthágod, körülmetéltséged körülmetéletlenséggé válik.
26 And if an uncircumcised man keeps the commands of the Law, wil not his uncircumcised state countas circumcision?	26 Ha viszont a körülmetéletlen megtartja a törvény rendelkezéseit, nem számít körülmetéltségnek a körülmetéletlensége?
27 More, the man who, in his native uncircumcised state, keeps the Law, is a condemnation of you, who,by your concentration on the letter and on circumcision, actual y break the Law.	27 S az, aki a természet szerint körülmetéletlen, ha teljesíti a törvényt, megítél majd téged, aki az Írás és a körülmetéltség mellett törvényszegő vagy.
28 Being a Jew is not only having the outward appearance of a Jew, and circumcision is not only avisible physical operation.	28 Mert nem az a zsidó, aki külsőleg az, és nem az a körülmetéltség, ami kívül, a testen látható,
29 The real Jew is the one who is inwardly a Jew, and real circumcision is in the heart, a thing not of theletter but of the spirit. He may not be praised by any human being, but he wil be praised by God.	29 hanem az a zsidó, aki bensejében az. Ez a szív körülmetéltsége a lélek szerint és nem a betű szerint. Az ilyen ember nem az emberektől nyer dicséretet, hanem Istentől.
