Romans 10

1 Brothers, my dearest wish and my prayer to God is for them, that they may be saved.	1 Fratelli, il voto del mio cuore e la preghiera che fo a Dio per essi è che sian salvati;
2 I readily testify to their fervour for God, but it is misguided.	2 perchè, rendo loro questa testimonianza, hanno lo zelo di Dio, ma non secondo la cognizione del vero:
3 Not recognising God's saving justice they have tried to establish their own, instead of submitting tothe saving justice of God.	3 infatti, ignorando la giustizia di Dio e cercando di stabilire la propria, non si sono sottomessi alla giustizia di Dio;
4 But the Law has found its fulfilment in Christ so that al who have faith wil be justified.	4 perchè fine della legge è Cristo, per dare la giustizia ad ogni credente.
5 Moses writes of the saving justice that comes by the Law and says that whoever complies with it wilfind life in it.	5 Mosè infatti dice della giustizia che vien dalla legge: « Chi l'avrà adempita, vivrà per essa ».
6 But the saving justice of faith says this: Do not think in your heart, 'Who wil go up to heaven?' --	6 Ma della giustizia che vien dalla fede dice: « Non dire in cuor tuo: « Chi salirà in cielo ? » sarebbe a dire per farne discendere il Cristo;
7 that is to bring Christ down; or 'Who wil go down to the depths?' -- that is to bring Christ back fromthe dead.	7 « Chi scenderà nell'abisso? » viene a dire per risuscitare il Cristo da morte.
8 What does it say, then? The word is very near to you; it is in your mouth and in your heart, that is, theword of faith, the faith which we preach,	8 Ma che dice la Scrittura? « Tu hai presso di te la parola nella tua bocca e nel tuo cuore »: questa è la parola della fede che noi predichiamo.
9 that if you declare with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and if you believe with your heart that Godraised him from the dead, then you wil be saved.	9 Se tu quindi colla tua bocca confesserai il Signore Gesù, e crederai in cuor tuo che Dio l'ha risuscitato da morte, sarai salvo;
10 It is by believing with the heart that you are justified, and by making the declaration with your lipsthat you are saved.	10 perchè credendo di cuore si perviene alla giustizia, e la confessione della bocca mena alla salute.
11 When scripture says: No one who relies on this wil be brought to disgrace,	11 Dice infatti la Scrittura: Chiunque crede in lui, non sarà confuso.
12 it makes no distinction between Jew and Greek: the same Lord is the Lord of all, and his generosityis offered to al who appeal to him,	12 Non c'è dunque distinzione fra Giudeo e Greco, perchè lo stesso è il Signore di tutti, ricco verso tutti quelli che l'invocano:
13 for al who cal on the name of the Lord wil be saved.	13 infatti «chiunque in­vocherà il nome del Signore, sarà salvo ».
14 How then are they to call on him if they have not come to believe in him? And how can they believein him if they have never heard of him? And how wil they hear of him unless there is a preacher for them?	14 Ma come invocheranno uno in cui non hanno creduto? E come crederanno in uno di cui non hanno sentito parlare? Come poi ne sentiranno parlare, senza chi predichi?
15 And how wil there be preachers if they are not sent? As scripture says: How beautiful are the feet ofthe messenger of good news.	15 E come predicheranno se non sono mandati? come sta scritto: Quanto son belli i piedi di coloro che evangelizzano la pace, che evangelizzano il bene!
16 But in fact they have not all responded to the good news. As Isaiah says: Lord, who has givencredence to what they have heard from us?	16 Ma non tutti obbediscono al Vangelo. Isaia infatti dice: Signore, chi ha creduto a ciò che ha da noi udito?
17 But it is in that way faith comes, from hearing, and that means hearing the word of Christ.	17 La fede vien dunque da ciò che è udito, e si ode per la parola di Cristo.
18 Wel then, I say, is it possible that they have not heard? Indeed they have: in the entire earth theirvoice stands out, their message reaches the whole world.	18 Ma domando: Non han forse udito? Eppure: Per tutta la terra ha risuonato la loro vote, e le loro parole son giunte fino agli estremi confini della terra.
19 Wel , another question, then: is it possible that Israel did not understand? In the first place Mosessaid: I shal rouse you to jealousy with a non-people, I shal exasperate you with a stupid nation.	19 Ma chiedo ancora: Forse Israele non ne seppe nulla? Mosè pel primo dice: Ecciterò la vostra gelosia contro una nazione, che non è nazione, provocherò il vostro sdegno contro una nazione stolta.
20 And Isaiah is even bold enough to say: I have let myself be found by those who did not seek me; Ihave let myself be seen by those who did not consult me;	20 Isaia poi ha l'audacia di dire: Mi han trovato quelli che non mi cercavano, mi son presentato a coloro che non chiede vano di me.
21 and referring to Israel, he says: Al day long I have been stretching out my hands to a disobedientand rebel ious people.	21 Ad Israele poi dice: Tutto il giorno stesi le mie mani verso un popolo incredulo e ribelle.
