1 It was very early on the first day of the week and stil dark, when Mary of Magdala came to the tomb.She saw that the stone had been moved away from the tomb	1 ויהי באחד בשבת לפנות הבקר בעוד חשך ותבא מרים המגדלית אל הקבר ותרא את האבן מוסרה מעל הקבר
2 and came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved. 'They have takenthe Lord out of the tomb,' she said, 'and we don't know where they have put him.'	2 ותרץ ותבא אל שמעון פטרוס ואל התלמיד האחר אשר חשק בו ישוע ותאמר אליהם הנה נשאו את האדון מקברו ולא ידענו איפה הניחהו
3 So Peter set out with the other disciple to go to the tomb.	3 ויצא פטרוס והתלמיד האחר וילכו אל הקבר
4 They ran together, but the other disciple, running faster than Peter, reached the tomb first;	4 וירוצו שניהם יחדו וימהר התלמיד האחר לרוץ ויעבר את פטרוס ויבא ראשונה אל הקבר
5 he bent down and saw the linen cloths lying on the ground, but did not go in.	5 וישקף אל תוכו וירא את התכריכין מנחים אך לא בא פנימה
6 Simon Peter, fol owing him, also came up, went into the tomb, saw the linen cloths lying on the ground	6 ויבא שמעון פטרוס אחריו והוא נכנס אל הקבר וירא את התכריכין מנחים
7 and also the cloth that had been over his head; this was not with the linen cloths but rolled up in aplace by itself.	7 והסודר אשר היתה על ראשו איננה מנחת אצל התכריכין כי אם מקפלת לבדה במקומה
8 Then the other disciple who had reached the tomb first also went in; he saw and he believed.	8 ויבא שמה גם התלמיד האחר אשר בא ראשונה אל הקבר וירא ויאמן
9 Til this moment they had stil not understood the scripture, that he must rise from the dead.	9 כי לא הבינו עד עתה את הכתוב אשר קום יקום מעם המתים
10 The disciples then went back home.	10 וישובו התלמידים וילכו אל ביתם
11 But Mary was standing outside near the tomb, weeping. Then, as she wept, she stooped to lookinside,	11 ומרים עמדה בוכיה מחוץ לקבר ויהי בבכותה ותשקף אל תוך הקבר
12 and saw two angels in white sitting where the body of Jesus had been, one at the head, the other atthe feet.	12 ותרא שני מלאכים לבושי לבנים ישבים במקום אשר שמו שם את גופת ישוע אחד מראשותיו ואחד מרגלותיו
13 They said, 'Woman, why are you weeping?' 'They have taken my Lord away,' she replied, 'and I don'tknow where they have put him.'	13 ויאמרו אליה אשה למה תבכי ותאמר אליהם כי נשאו מזה את אדני ולא ידעתי איפה הניחהו
14 As she said this she turned round and saw Jesus standing there, though she did not realise that itwas Jesus.	14 ויהי בדברה זאת ותפן אחריה ותרא את ישוע עמד ולא ידעה כי הוא ישוע
15 Jesus said to her, 'Woman, why are you weeping? Who are you looking for?' Supposing him to be thegardener, she said, 'Sir, if you have taken him away, tel me where you have put him, and I will go and removehim.'	15 ויאמר אליה ישוע אשה למה תבכי את מי תבקשי והיא חשבה כי הוא שמר הגן ותאמר אליו אדני אם אתה נשאת אתו מזה הגידה נא לי איפה הנחתו ולקחתיו משם
16 Jesus said, 'Mary!' She turned round then and said to him in Hebrew, 'Rabbuni!' -- which meansMaster.	16 ויאמר אליה ישוע מרים ותפן ותאמר אליו רבוני הוא מורה
17 Jesus said to her, 'Do not cling to me, because I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to thebrothers, and tell them: I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.'	17 ויאמר אליה ישוע אל תגעי בי כי עוד לא עליתי אל אבי אך לכי נא אל אחי ואמרי אליהם אני עלה אל אבי ואביכם ואל אלהי ואלהיכם
18 So Mary of Magdala told the disciples, 'I have seen the Lord,' and that he had said these things toher.	18 ותבא מרים המגדלית ותספר אל התלמידים כי ראתה את האדון וכזאת דבר אליה
19 In the evening of that same day, the first day of the week, the doors were closed in the room wherethe disciples were, for fear of the Jews. Jesus came and stood among them. He said to them, 'Peace be withyou,'	19 ויהי לעת ערב ביום ההוא והוא אחד בשבת כאשר נסגרו דלתות הבית אשר נקבצו שם התלמידים מיראת היהודים ויבא ישוע ויעמד ביניהם ויאמר אליהם שלום לכם
20 and, after saying this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples were filled with joy atseeing the Lord,	20 ובדברו זאת הראה אתם את ידיו ואת צדו וישמחו התלמידים בראותם את האדון
21 and he said to them again, 'Peace be with you. 'As the Father sent me, so am I sending you.'	21 ויסף ישוע לדבר אליהם שלום לכם כאשר שלח אתי האב כן אנכי שלח אתכם
22 After saying this he breathed on them and said: Receive the Holy Spirit.	22 ויהי בדברו זאת ויפח בהם ויאמר אליהם קחו לכם את רוח הקדש
23 If you forgive anyone's sins, they are forgiven; if you retain anyone's sins, they are retained.	23 והיה כל אשר תסלחו את חטאתם ונסלח להם ואשר תאשימו יאשמו
24 Thomas, cal ed the Twin, who was one of the Twelve, was not with them when Jesus came.	24 ותומא אחד משנים העשר הנקרא דידומוס לא היה בתוכם כבוא ישוע
25 So the other disciples said to him, 'We have seen the Lord,' but he answered, 'Unless I can see theholes that the nails made in his hands and can put my finger into the holes they made, and unless I can put myhand into his side, I refuse to believe.'	25 ויגידו לו התלמידים הנשארים ראה ראינו את האדון ויאמר אליהם אם לא אראה בידיו את רשם המסמרות ואשים את אצבעתי במקום המסמרות ואשים את ידי בצדו לא אאמין
26 Eight days later the disciples were in the house again and Thomas was with them. The doors wereclosed, but Jesus came in and stood among them. 'Peace be with you,' he said.	26 ויהי מקצה שמונת ימים ותלמידיו שנית פנימה ותומא עמהם ויבא ישוע והדלתות מסגרות ויעמד ביניהם ויאמר שלום לכם
27 Then he spoke to Thomas, 'Put your finger here; look, here are my hands. Give me your hand; put itinto my side. Do not be unbelieving any more but believe.'	27 ואחר אמר אל תומא שלח אצבעך הנה וראה את ידי ושלח את ידך הנה ושים בצדי ואל תהי חסר אמונה כי אם מאמין
28 Thomas replied, 'My Lord and my God!'	28 ויען תומא ויאמר אליו אדני ואלהי
29 Jesus said to him: You believe because you can see me. Blessed are those who have not seen andyet believe.	29 ויאמר אליו ישוע יען ראית אתי האמנת אשרי המאמינים ואינם ראים
30 There were many other signs that Jesus worked in the sight of the disciples, but they are notrecorded in this book.	30 והנה גם אתות אחרים רבים עשה ישוע לעיני תלמידיו אשר לא נכתבו בספר הזה
31 These are recorded so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and thatbelieving this you may have life through his name.	31 אך אלה נכתבו למען תאמינו כי ישוע הוא המשיח בן אלהים ולמען יהיו לכם המאמינים חיי עולם בשמו
