1 On the third day there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee. The mother of Jesus was there,	1 Tre giorni dopo vi fu uno sposalizio in Cana di Galilea: ed era quivi la Madre di Gesù.
2 and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited.	2 E fu invitati, anche Gesù co' suoi discepoli alle nozze.
3 And they ran out of wine, since the wine provided for the feast had al been used, and the mother ofJesus said to him, 'They have no wine.'	3 Ed essendo venuto a mancare il vino, disse a Gesù la Madre: Ei non hanno più vino.
4 Jesus said, 'Woman, what do you want from me? My hour has not come yet.'	4 E Gesù le disse: Che ho io da fare con te, o donna? Non è per anco venuta la mia ora.
5 His mother said to the servants, 'Do whatever he tells you.'	5 Disse la Madre a coloro, che servivano: Fate quello, che ei vi dirà.
6 There were six stone water jars standing there, meant for the ablutions that are customary among theJews: each could hold twenty or thirty gal ons.	6 Or vi erano sei idrie di pietra preparate per la purificazione Giudaica, le quali contenevano ciascheduna due in tre metrete.
7 Jesus said to the servants, 'Fil the jars with water,' and they fil ed them to the brim.	7 Gesù disse loro: Empite d'acqua quelle idrie. Ed essi le empirono fino all'orlo.
8 Then he said to them, 'Draw some out now and take it to the president of the feast.'	8 E Gesù disse loro: Attignete adesso, e portate al mastro di casa. E ne portarono.
9 They did this; the president tasted the water, and it had turned into wine. Having no idea where it camefrom -- though the servants who had drawn the water knew -- the president of the feast cal ed the bridegroom	9 E appena ebbe fatto il saggio dell'acqua convertita in vino, il mastro di casa, che non sapeva, donde questo uscisse (lo sapevan però i serventi, che avevano attinta l'acqua): il mastro di casa chiama lo sposo,
10 and said, 'Everyone serves good wine first and the worse wine when the guests are wel wined; butyou have kept the best wine til now.'	10 E gli dice: Tutti servono da principio il vino di miglior polso: e quando la gente si è esilarata, allora danno dell'inferiore: ma tu hai serbato il migliore fin ad ora.
11 This was the first of Jesus' signs: it was at Cana in Galilee. He revealed his glory, and his disciplesbelieved in him.	11 Cosi Gesù in Cana di Galilea diede principio a far miracoli: e manifestò la sua gloria, e in lui crederono i suoi discepoli.
12 After this he went down to Capernaum with his mother and his brothers and his disciples, but theystayed there only a few days.	12 Dopo di ciò andò con la sua Madre, e coi fratelli, e co' suoi discepoli a Cafarnaum: e vi stettero per poco tempo.
13 When the time of the Jewish Passover was near Jesus went up to Jerusalem,	13 Ed era prossima la Pasqua dei Giudei, e Gesù si portò a Gerusalemme:
14 and in the Temple he found people selling cattle and sheep and doves, and the money changerssitting there.	14 E trovò nel tempio della gente, che vendeva bovi, e pecore, e colombe, e banchieri, che sedevano a banco.
15 Making a whip out of cord, he drove them al out of the Temple, sheep and cattle as wel , scattered themoney changers' coins, knocked their tables over	15 E fatta quasi una frusta di cordicelle di giunco, tutti coloro scacciò dal tempio, e le pecore, e i bovi, e gittò per terra il denaro de' banchieri, e rovesciò i loro banchi.
16 and said to the dove sel ers, 'Take all this out of here and stop using my Father's house as a market.'	16 A quelli poi, che, vendevano le colombe, disse: Togliete via di qua queste cose, e non vogliate convertire la casa del Padre mio in bottega di traffico.
17 Then his disciples remembered the words of scripture: I am eaten up with zeal for your house.	17 E i suoi discepoli si ricordarono, che sta scritto: Lo zelo della tua casa mi ha consumato.
18 The Jews intervened and said, 'What sign can you show us that you should act like this?'	18 Si rivolser però a lui i Giudei, e gli dissero: Con qual segno mostri tu a noi di poter fare queste cose?
19 Jesus answered, 'Destroy this Temple, and in three days I will raise it up.'	19 Rispose loro Gesù: Disfate questo tempio, e io in tre giorni lo rimetterò in piedi.
20 The Jews replied, 'It has taken forty-six years to build this Temple: are you going to raise it up again inthree days?'	20 Replicarono adunque i Giudei: Questo tempio fu fabbricato in quarantasei anni, e tu lo rimetterai in piedi in tre giorni?
21 But he was speaking of the Temple that was his body,	21 Or egli parlava del tempio del suo corpo.
22 and when Jesus rose from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believedthe scripture and what he had said.	22 Quindi è, che allora quando fu risuscitato da morte, si ricordarono i suoi discepoli, come egli aveva detto questo, e credettero alla Scrittura, e alle parole di Gesù.
23 During his stay in Jerusalem for the feast of the Passover many believed in his name when they sawthe signs that he did,	23 Nel tempo poi, che egli stette in Gerusalemme per la Pasqua, e per la solennità, molti credettero nel suo nome, vedendo i miracoli, che egli faceva.
24 but Jesus knew al people and did not trust himself to them;	24 Ma quanto a Gesù egli non fidava loro se stesso, perché tutti conosceva,
25 he never needed evidence about anyone; he could tell what someone had within.	25 E perché non avea bisogno, che alcuno rendesse testimonianza d'un altro: conciossiachè da se stesso sapeva quel, che fosse nell'uomo.
