Deuteronomy 22

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 'If you see your brother's ox or one of his sheep straying, you must not disregard it: you must take itback to your brother.	1 Si ves extraviados al buey o a la oveja de tu hermano, no te despreocupes de ellos y vé a devolvérselos cuanto antes.
2 And if he is not close at hand or you do not know who he is, you must take it home with you and keepit by you until your brother comes to look for it; you wil then return it to him.	2 Si ese hermano no es tu vecino o no sabes quién es, encierra al animal en tu casa y cuídalo hasta que él lo venga a reclamar. Entonces se lo devolverás.
3 'You must do the same with his donkey, the same with his cloak, the same with anything that yourbrother loses and that you find; you must not disregard it.	3 Lo mismo harás con su asno, con su ropa y con cualquier otro objeto que pierdas tu hermano y que tú encuentres: no podrás despreocuparte de ellos
4 'If you see your brother's donkey or ox fal over on the road, you must not disregard it, but must helpyour brother get it on its feet again.	4 Si ves caídos en el camino al asno o al buey de tu hermano, no te despreocupes de ellos y ayúdalo a levantarlos.
5 'A woman must not dress like a man, nor a man like a woman; anyone who does this is detestable toYahweh your God.	5 La mujer no se pondrá ropa de hombre, ni el hombre un vestido de mujer: el que lo hace resulta abominable a los ojos del Señor, tu Dios.
6 'If, when out walking, you come across a bird's nest, in a tree or on the ground, with chicks or eggsand the mother bird sitting on the chicks or the eggs, you must not take the mother as wel as the chicks.	6 Si mientras vas caminando, encuentras en un árbol o en el suelo un nido de pájaros con pichones o con huevos, y la madre está echada encima de ellos, no tomes a la madre con su cría.
7 Let the mother go; the young you may take for yourself. Thus wil you have prosperity and long life.	7 Deja en libertad a la madre y toma para ti los pichones. Así serás feliz y tendrás una larga vida.
8 'When you build a new house, you must give your roof a parapet; then your house will not incur blood-vengeance, should anyone fal off the top.	8 Cuando construyas una casa nueva, pondrás una baranda alrededor de la terraza. Así no harás a tu casa responsable de derramamiento de sangre, en el caso de que alguien se caiga de allí.
9 'You must not sow any other crop in your vineyard, or the whole yield may become forfeit, both thecrop you have sown and the yield of your vines.	9 No sembrarás en tu viña otra clase de plantas, porque de lo contrario toda la cosecha será sagrada: tanto el producto de lo que siembres como el fruto de la viña.
10 'You must not plough with ox and donkey together.	10 No ares con un buey y un asno juntos.
11 'You must not wear clothing woven part of wool, part of linen.	11 No vestirás ropa tejida de lana mezclada con lino.
12 'You must make tassels for the four corners of the cloak in which you wrap yourself.	12 Coloca unos flecos en las cuatro puntas del manto con que te cubres.
13 'If a man marries a woman, has sexual intercourse with her and then, turning against her,	13 Si un hombre se casa con una mujer y se une a ella, pero después le toma aversión,
14 taxes her with misconduct and publicly defames her by saying, "I married this woman and when Ihad sexual intercourse with her I did not find evidence of her virginity,"	14 la acusa falsamente y la difama, diciendo: «Yo me casé con esta mujer, y cuando me uní a ella comprobé que no era virgen»,
15 the girl's father and mother must take the evidence of her virginity and produce it before the elders ofthe town, at the gate.	15 entonces el padre y la madre de la joven tomarán las pruebas de su virginidad, y las exhibirán ante los ancianos, en la puerta de la ciudad.
16 To the elders, the girl's father wil say, "I gave this man my daughter for a wife and he has turnedagainst her,	16 El padre de la joven dirá a los ancianos: «Yo entregué mi hija a este hombre para que fuera su esposa, pero él le ha tomado aversión
17 and now he taxes her with misconduct, saying, I have found no evidence of virginity in your daughter.Here is the evidence of my daughter's virginity!"	17 y ahora la acusa falsamente, declarando que no encontró en ella las señales de la virginidad. Aquí están las pruebas de que mi hija era realmente virgen». Y en seguida extenderán la sábana nupcial ante los ancianos de la ciudad.
18 They must then display the cloth to the elders of the town.	18 Entonces estos tomarán al hombre y lo castigarán
19 The elders of the town in question wil have the man arrested and flogged, and fine him a hundredsilver shekels for publicly defaming a virgin of Israel, and give this money to the girl's father. She wil remain his wife; as long as he lives, he may not divorce her.	19 por haber difamado a una virgen israelita, condenándolo, además, a pagar cien siclos de plata, que entregarán al padre de la joven. Ella seguirá siendo su mujer, y el hombre no podrá repudiarla nunca más.
20 'But if the accusation that the girl cannot show evidence of virginity is substantiated,	20 Pero si la acusación resulta verdadera y no aparecen las pruebas de la virginidad de la joven,
21 she must be taken out, and at the door of her father's house her fellow-citizens must stone her todeath for having committed an infamy in Israel by bringing disgrace on her father's family. You must banish thisevil from among you.	21 la sacarán a la puerta de la casa de su padre, y la gente de esa ciudad la matará a pedradas, por haber cometido una acción infame en Israel, prostituyéndose en la casa de su padre. Así harás desaparecer el mal de entre ustedes.
22 'If a man is caught having sexual intercourse with another man's wife, both must be put to death: theman who has slept with her and the woman herself. You must banish this evil from Israel.	22 Si se sorprende a un hombre acostado con una mujer casada, morirán los dos; el hombre que estaba acostado con la mujer, y también ella. Así harás desaparecer el mal de entre ustedes.
23 'If a virgin is engaged to a man, and another man encounters her in the town and has sexualintercourse with her,	23 Si una joven virgen está comprometida con un hombre, y otro la encuentra en la ciudad y se acuesta con ella,
24 you will take them both to the gate of the town in question and stone them to death: the girl, for nothaving cal ed for help in the town; the man, for having exploited his fel ow-citizen's wife. You must banish thisevil from among you.	24 se hará salir a los dos a la puerta de esa ciudad y los matarán a pedradas; a la joven por no haber pedido auxilio, a pesar de que estaba en la ciudad; y al hombre por haber violado a la mujer de su prójimo. Así harás desaparecer el mal de entre ustedes.
25 But if the man ran into the betrothed girl in the open country and slept with her, having taken her byforce, her ravisher alone must die;	25 Pero si el hombre encuentra en el campo a la joven comprometida y se acuesta con ella por la fuerza, sólo morirá el hombre que se acostó con ella.
26 you must do nothing to the girl, she has not committed a capital offence. The case is like that of aman who attacks and kil s his fel ow:	26 A la joven, no le harás nada, porque no ha cometido un pecado que merezca la muerte. Es un caso semejante al de un hombre que ataca a otro y lo mata:
27 since he came across her in the open country, the betrothed girl may have cal ed out, withoutanyone's coming to her rescue.	27 como el encuentro se produjo en el campo, tal vez la joven pidió auxilio, pero no había nadie que la socorriera.
28 'If a man meets a young virgin who is not betrothed and seizes her, sleeps with her and is caught inthe act,	28 Si un hombre encuentra a una joven virgen que no está comprometida, la toma por la fuerza y se acuesta con ella, y son sorprendidos,
29 her ravisher must give the girl's father fifty silver shekels; since he has exploited her, she must be hiswife and, as long as he lives, he may not divorce her.'	29 el hombre que se acostó con ella deberá pagar al padre de la joven cincuenta siclos de plata y ella será su mujer. Nunca podrá repudiarla, porque él la violó.
