Deuteronomy 11

NEW JERUSALEM	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 'You must love Yahweh your God and always keep his observances, his laws, his customs, hiscommandments.	1 Amarás, pois, o Senhor, teu Deus, e observarás sempre o que ele te ordena, suas leis, seus preceitos e seus mandamentos.
2 You are the ones who have had the experience, not your children. They have not had the experience,they have not witnessed the lessons of Yahweh your God, his greatness, his mighty hand and his outstretchedarm,	2 Quanto a vós pois não se trata de vossos filhos, que não conheceram e não foram testemunhas oculares das lições que o Senhor nos deu , {reconhecei} a grandeza de vosso Deus, o poder de sua mão, e o vigor de seu braço,
3 the signs and the deeds which he performed in the heart of Egypt, against Pharaoh king of Egypt andhis entire country,	3 os prodígios e as obras que fez no Egito contra o faraó, rei do Egito, e contra toda a sua terra;
4 what he did to the armies of Egypt, to their horses and their chariots, by overwhelming them with thewaters of the Sea of Reeds when they were pursuing you, and leaving no trace of them to this day;	4 o que fez ao exército egípcio, aos seus cavalos e aos seus carros, como os envolveu nas águas do mar Vermelho, quando vos perseguiam, aniquilando-os para sempre.
5 what he did for you in the desert, until you arrived here;	5 {Lembra-te} do que fez por vós no deserto até a vossa chegada a este lugar;
6 what he did to Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab the Reubenite, when, with al Israel standinground, the earth opened its mouth and swal owed them, with their families, their tents and al their supporters.	6 do castigo que infligiu a Datã e Abiron, filhos de Eliab, filho de Rubem, quando a terra, abrindo sua boca, engoliu-os no meio de todo o Israel, com suas famílias, suas tendas e todos os seres vivos que os seguiam.
7 Al these great deeds of Yahweh you have seen with your own eyes.	7 Os vossos filhos viram todas as obras que o Senhor fez.
8 'You must keep al the commandments which I enjoin on you today, so that you may have the strengthto conquer the country into which you are about to cross, to take possession of it,	8 Observareis, pois, as ordens que hoje vos dou, para que sejais fortes e entreis na posse da terra que ides ocupar,
9 and so that you may live long in the country which Yahweh promised on oath to bestow on yourancestors and their descendants, a country flowing with milk and honey.	9 e prolongueis os vossos dias na terra que o Senhor jurou dar a vossos pais e à sua posteridade, terra que mana leite e mel.
10 'For the country which you are about to enter and make your own is not like the country of Egyptfrom which you have come, where, having done your sowing, you had to water the seed by foot, as though in avegetable garden.	10 Com efeito, a terra em que vais entrar para possuí-la, não é como o Egito de onde saíste, onde, depois de lançada a semente, devias regar a terra com a força de teus pés, como se rega uma horta.
11 No, the country which you are about to enter and make your own, is a country of hills and val eyswatered by the rain of heaven.	11 A terra que ides ocupar é uma terra de montes e vales, que bebe as chuvas do céu.
12 Yahweh your God looks after this country, the eyes of Yahweh your God are always on it, from thebeginning of the year to the end.	12 É uma terra de que o Senhor, teu Deus, toma cuidado, e para a qual os seus olhos estão continuamente voltados do começo ao fim do ano.
13 Depend on it: if you faithfully obey the commandments I enjoin on you today, loving Yahweh yourGod and serving him with al your heart and al your soul,	13 Se obedecerdes aos mandamentos que hoje vos prescrevo, se amardes o Senhor, servindo-o de todo o vosso coração e de toda a vossa alma,
14 I shal give your country rain at the right time, rain in autumn, rain in spring, so that you can harvestyour wheat, your new wine and your oil.	14 derramarei sobre a vossa terra a chuva em seu tempo, a chuva do outono e a da primavera, e recolherás o teu trigo, o teu vinho e o teu óleo;
15 I shal provide grass in the fields for your cattle, and you will eat to your heart's content.	15 darei erva aos teus campos para os teus animais, e te alimentarás até ficares saciado.
16 Beware of letting your heart be seduced: if you go astray, serve other gods and bow down to them,	16 Tende cuidado para que o vosso coração não seja seduzido e vos desvieis do Senhor para servir deuses estranhos, rendendo-lhes culto e prostrando-vos diante deles.
17 Yahweh's anger wil be kindled against you, he wil shut the heavens, there wil be no more rain, thesoil wil not yield its produce and, in the fine country given you by Yahweh, you wil quickly perish.	17 A cólera do Senhor se inflamaria contra vós e ele fecharia os céus: a chuva cessaria de cair, e não haveria mais colheita, no vosso solo, de modo que não tardaríeis a perecer nesta boa terra que o Senhor vos dá.
18 'Let these words of mine remain in your heart and in your soul; fasten them on your hand as a signand on your forehead as a headband.	18 Gravai, pois, profundamente em vosso coração e em vossa alma estas minhas palavras; prenderas às vossas mãos como um sinal, e levaras como uma faixa frontal entre os vossos olhos.
19 Teach them to your children, and keep on tel ing them, when you are sitting at home, when you areout and about, when you are lying down and when you are standing up.	19 Ensinai-as aos vossos filhos, falando-lhes delas seja em vossa casa, seja em viagem, quando vos deitardes ou levantardes.
20 Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates,	20 Escreve-as nas ombreiras e nas portas de tua casa,
21 so that you and your children may live long in the country which Yahweh swore to your ancestorsthat he would give them for as long as there is a sky above the earth.	21 para que se multipliquem os teus dias e os dias de teus filhos na terra que o Senhor jurou dar a teus pais, e sejam tão numerosos como os dias do céu sobre a terra.
22 'For if you faithful y keep and observe al these commandments that I enjoin on you today, lovingYahweh your God, following all his ways and holding fast to him,	22 Se observardes fielmente todos os mandamentos que vos prescrevo, amando o Senhor, vosso Deus, andando em seus caminhos e apegando-vos a ele,
23 Yahweh wil dispossess al these nations before you, and you wil dispossess nations greater andmore powerful than yourselves.	23 então o Senhor expulsará de diante de vós todas essas nações, e despojareis povos mais numerosos e mais fortes do que vós.
24 Wherever the sole of your foot treads wil be yours; your territory will run from the desert al the wayto the Lebanon; and from the River, from the River Euphrates, as far as the Western Sea, wil be your territory.	24 Todo lugar em que pisar a planta de vossos pés vos pertencerá. Vossa fronteiras irão desde o deserto até o Líbano e desde o rio Eufrates até o mar do ocidente.
25 No one wil be able to resist you; Yahweh your God will make you feared and dreaded throughout theterritory you tread, as he has promised you.	25 Ninguém vos poderá resistir: o Senhor, vosso Deus, semeará o pânico e o terror de vós em todas as terras onde pisardes, como vos prometeu.
26 'Today, look, I am offering you a blessing and a curse:	26 Vede: proponho-vos hoje bênção ou maldição.
27 a blessing, if you obey the commandments of Yahweh your God which I enjoin on you today;	27 Bênção, se obedecerdes aos mandamentos do Senhor, vosso Deus, que hoje vos prescrevo.
28 a curse, if you disobey the commandments of Yahweh your God and leave the way which today Ihave marked out for you, by following other gods hitherto unknown to you.	28 Maldição, se não obedecerdes aos mandamentos do Senhor, vosso Deus, e vos apartardes do caminho que hoje vos mostro, para seguintes deuses estranhos que não conheceis.
29 And when Yahweh your God has brought you into the country which you are about to enter andmake your own, you must set the blessing on Mount Gerizim and the curse on Mount Ebal.	29 Quando o Senhor, vosso Deus, te tiver introduzido na terra que vais possuir, pronunciarás a bênção sobre o monte Garizim, e a maldição sobre o monte Ebal.
30 (These mountains, as everyone knows, are on the other side of the Jordan on the westward road, inthe territory of the Canaanites who live in the Arabah, opposite Gilgal, near the Oak of Moreh.)	30 Essas montanhas encontram-se além do Jordão, do outro lado do caminho do ocidente, na terra dos cananeus que habitam nas planícies defronte de Gálgala, perto dos carvalhos de Moré.
31 For you are about to cross the Jordan, to enter and take possession of the country given you byYahweh your God. You wil possess it, you wil live in it,	31 Com efeito, vós passareis o Jordão e tomareis posse da terra que te dá o Senhor. Quando a possuirdes e nela habitardes,
32 and you must keep and observe al the laws and customs promulgated by me to you today.'	32 cuidareis de praticar todos os preceitos e todas as leis que hoje vos proponho.
