Deuteronomy 11

1 'You must love Yahweh your God and always keep his observances, his laws, his customs, hiscommandments.	1 Ama adunque il Signore Dio tuo, e osserva i suoi comandamenti, e le cerimonie, e le leggi, e gl’insegnamenti in ogni tempo.
2 You are the ones who have had the experience, not your children. They have not had the experience,they have not witnessed the lessons of Yahweh your God, his greatness, his mighty hand and his outstretchedarm,	2 Considerate oggi quelle cose, che sono ignote a' vostri figliuoli, i quali non videro i gastighi del Signore Dio vostro, i suoi prodigii, e la possanza della sua mano, e del suo braccio forte.
3 the signs and the deeds which he performed in the heart of Egypt, against Pharaoh king of Egypt andhis entire country,	3 I segni e le opere, che ei fece in mezzo all'Egitto sopra Faraone re, e sopra tutto il suo paese,
4 what he did to the armies of Egypt, to their horses and their chariots, by overwhelming them with thewaters of the Sea of Reeds when they were pursuing you, and leaving no trace of them to this day;	4 E sopra tutto l’esercito egiziano, e sopra i cavalli, e i cocchi: come le acque del mar Rosso li ricopersero, allorché v'inseguivano, e come il Signore gli sperse, come sono anche al dì d'oggi:
5 what he did for you in the desert, until you arrived here;	5 E quello che per voi fece nella solitudine fino al vostro arrivo in questo luogo:
6 what he did to Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab the Reubenite, when, with al Israel standinground, the earth opened its mouth and swal owed them, with their families, their tents and al their supporters.	6 E (quel ch'ei fece) a Dathan e Abiron figliuoli di Eliab, il quale fu figliuolo di Ruben: i quali la terra, spalancata avendo la sua bocca, inghiottì colle famiglie, colle tende, e con tutto quel che aveano in mezzo d'Israele.
7 Al these great deeds of Yahweh you have seen with your own eyes.	7 Gli occhi vostri videro tutte le grandi opere fatte dal Signore.
8 'You must keep al the commandments which I enjoin on you today, so that you may have the strengthto conquer the country into which you are about to cross, to take possession of it,	8 Affinché osserviate tutti i suoi comandamenti, ch'io oggi v'intimo, onde entrar possiate al dominio della terra, alla quale siete pervenuti,
9 and so that you may live long in the country which Yahweh promised on oath to bestow on yourancestors and their descendants, a country flowing with milk and honey.	9 E in essa viviate per lungo tempo: terra, che scorre latte e miele, promessa con giuramento dal Signore a' padri vostri, e alla lor discendenza:
10 'For the country which you are about to enter and make your own is not like the country of Egyptfrom which you have come, where, having done your sowing, you had to water the seed by foot, as though in avegetable garden.	10 Perocché la terra, di cui tu entrerai al possesso, non è come la terra d'Egitto, donde tu se' uscito, nella quale gettato che è il seme, si conducono acque ad innaffiarla, come si fa degli orti:
11 No, the country which you are about to enter and make your own, is a country of hills and val eyswatered by the rain of heaven.	11 Ma ella è terra di monti e di piani, ed aspetta dal cielo le piogge:
12 Yahweh your God looks after this country, the eyes of Yahweh your God are always on it, from thebeginning of the year to the end.	12 E il Signore Dio tuo la visita sempre, e gli occhi di lui sono a lei rivolti dal principio dell'anno sino alla fine.
13 Depend on it: if you faithfully obey the commandments I enjoin on you today, loving Yahweh yourGod and serving him with al your heart and al your soul,	13 Se adunque voi obbedirete a' miei comandamenti, ch'io oggi v'intimo, e amerete il Signore Dio vostro, e lo servirete con tutto il cuor vostro, e con tutta l’anima vostra:
14 I shal give your country rain at the right time, rain in autumn, rain in spring, so that you can harvestyour wheat, your new wine and your oil.	14 Darà egli alla vostra terra le prime piogge, e le ultime, affinché abbiate raccolta di frumento, e di vino, e di olio,
15 I shal provide grass in the fields for your cattle, and you will eat to your heart's content.	15 Ed erba ne' campi per nudrire i bestiami, e affinché abbiate voi da mangiare e da satollarvi.
16 Beware of letting your heart be seduced: if you go astray, serve other gods and bow down to them,	16 Badate, che per disgrazia non sia sedotto il cuor vostro, e vi allontaniate dal Signore, e serviate agli dei stranieri, e gli adoriate:
17 Yahweh's anger wil be kindled against you, he wil shut the heavens, there wil be no more rain, thesoil wil not yield its produce and, in the fine country given you by Yahweh, you wil quickly perish.	17 Affinché irato il Signore non chiuda il cielo, onde non cadan le piogge, e non produca la terra i suoi germi, e voi siate spersi ben presto dalla ottima terra, che il Signore è per darvi.
18 'Let these words of mine remain in your heart and in your soul; fasten them on your hand as a signand on your forehead as a headband.	18 Riponete ne' cuori, e negli animi vostri queste parole, abbiatele legate al dito vostro per memoria, e tenetele dinanzi agli occhi vostri.
19 Teach them to your children, and keep on tel ing them, when you are sitting at home, when you areout and about, when you are lying down and when you are standing up.	19 Insegnate a’ vostri figliuoli a meditarle, quando starete sedendo in casa vostra, e andando per istrada, e mettendovi a letto, ed alzandovi.
20 Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates,	20 Le scriverai sopra l’architrave, e sopra le porte della tua casa.
21 so that you and your children may live long in the country which Yahweh swore to your ancestorsthat he would give them for as long as there is a sky above the earth.	21 Affinché si moltiplichino i giorni tuoi, e quelli de' tuoi figliuoli nella terra, che il Signore giurò di dare a’ padri tuoi, per fino a tanto che sarà il cielo sopra la terra.
22 'For if you faithful y keep and observe al these commandments that I enjoin on you today, lovingYahweh your God, following all his ways and holding fast to him,	22 Imperocché se voi osserverete e metterete in pratica i comandamenti, che io v'intimo, di amare il Signore Dio vostro, e di camminare in tutte le sue vie uniti a lui,
23 Yahweh wil dispossess al these nations before you, and you wil dispossess nations greater andmore powerful than yourselves.	23 Sperderà il Signore tutte queste nazioni dinanzi a voi, e le soggiogherete, benché maggiori, e più potenti di voi.
24 Wherever the sole of your foot treads wil be yours; your territory will run from the desert al the wayto the Lebanon; and from the River, from the River Euphrates, as far as the Western Sea, wil be your territory.	24 Sarà vostro qualunque luogo, dove porrete il piede. I vostri confini saranno dal deserto, e dal Libano, e dal gran fiume Eufrate fino al mare d'occidente.
25 No one wil be able to resist you; Yahweh your God will make you feared and dreaded throughout theterritory you tread, as he has promised you.	25 Nessuno potrà starvi a petto: il Signore Dio vostro farà, che prenda paura di voi, e spavento qualunque paese, dove entrerete, com'ei vi promise.
26 'Today, look, I am offering you a blessing and a curse:	26 Ecco io pongo oggi dinanzi a voi la benedizione e la maledizione.
27 a blessing, if you obey the commandments of Yahweh your God which I enjoin on you today;	27 La benedizione, se obbedirete a’ comandamenti del Signore Dio vostro intimativi oggi da me:
28 a curse, if you disobey the commandments of Yahweh your God and leave the way which today Ihave marked out for you, by following other gods hitherto unknown to you.	28 La maledizione, se non obbedirete a' comandamenti del Signore Dio vostro, ma vi dilungherete dalla via, che io oggi vi mostro, e andrete dietro agli dei stranieri non conosciuti da voi.
29 And when Yahweh your God has brought you into the country which you are about to enter andmake your own, you must set the blessing on Mount Gerizim and the curse on Mount Ebal.	29 Ma quando ti avrà introdotto il Signore Dio tuo nella terra, in cui tu vai ad abitare, tu porrai la benedizione sul monte Garizim, la maledizione sul monte Hebal.
30 (These mountains, as everyone knows, are on the other side of the Jordan on the westward road, inthe territory of the Canaanites who live in the Arabah, opposite Gilgal, near the Oak of Moreh.)	30 I quali (monti) son di là dal Giordano, accanto alla strada, che mena all’occidente, nella terra de' Cananei, che abitano nella pianura dirimpetto a Galgala, vicino all’ampia valle, che lungi si estende.
31 For you are about to cross the Jordan, to enter and take possession of the country given you byYahweh your God. You wil possess it, you wil live in it,	31 Perché voi passerete il Giordano ad occupare la terra, che il Signore Dio vostro daravvi, perché ne abbiate possesso e dominio.
32 and you must keep and observe al the laws and customs promulgated by me to you today.'	32 Siate adunque attenti all'osservanza delle cerimonie e delle leggi, ch'io esporrò in questo giorno dinanzi a voi.
