Deuteronomy 11

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 'You must love Yahweh your God and always keep his observances, his laws, his customs, hiscommandments.	1 Amerai il Signore tuo Dio e custodirai le sue leggi, le sue prescrizioni, i suoi decreti e i suoi precetti ogni giorno.
2 You are the ones who have had the experience, not your children. They have not had the experience,they have not witnessed the lessons of Yahweh your God, his greatness, his mighty hand and his outstretchedarm,	2 Oggi voi conoscete, e non i vostri figli, che non hanno conosciuto e visto le lezioni del Signore vostro Dio, la sua grandezza, la sua mano forte e il suo braccio teso:
3 the signs and the deeds which he performed in the heart of Egypt, against Pharaoh king of Egypt andhis entire country,	3 i segni e le opere che ha compiuto in mezzo all'Egitto contro il faraone, re d'Egitto, e contro tutta la sua terra,
4 what he did to the armies of Egypt, to their horses and their chariots, by overwhelming them with thewaters of the Sea of Reeds when they were pursuing you, and leaving no trace of them to this day;	4 ciò che ha fatto all'esercito d'Egitto, ai suoi cavalli e ai suoi carri, facendo rifluire su di essi le acque del Mar Rosso mentre vi stavano inseguendo, e li ha annientati fino ad oggi;
5 what he did for you in the desert, until you arrived here;	5 quanto fece per voi nel deserto fino al vostro arrivo in questo luogo,
6 what he did to Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab the Reubenite, when, with al Israel standinground, the earth opened its mouth and swal owed them, with their families, their tents and al their supporters.	6 ciò che fece a Datan e Abiram, figli di Eliab, figlio di Ruben, quando la terra aprì la sua bocca e li inghiottì con le famiglie, le tende e ciò che apparteneva ad essi, in mezzo a tutto Israele;
7 Al these great deeds of Yahweh you have seen with your own eyes.	7 i vostri occhi hanno visto tutte le grandi opere che il Signore ha compiuto.
8 'You must keep al the commandments which I enjoin on you today, so that you may have the strengthto conquer the country into which you are about to cross, to take possession of it,	8 Osserverete tutto l'ordinamento che oggi vi prescrivo, perché siate forti e andiate a conquistare la terra in cui passate per conquistarla,
9 and so that you may live long in the country which Yahweh promised on oath to bestow on yourancestors and their descendants, a country flowing with milk and honey.	9 affinché prolunghiate i vostri giorni sul suolo che il Signore ha giurato ai vostri padri di dare loro e alla loro discendenza, terra dove scorre latte e miele.
10 'For the country which you are about to enter and make your own is not like the country of Egyptfrom which you have come, where, having done your sowing, you had to water the seed by foot, as though in avegetable garden.	10 Poiché la terra che tu vai a conquistare non è come la terra d'Egitto, donde siete usciti, dove seminavi la tua semente e poi la irrigavi con il piede come un giardino da erbaggi.
11 No, the country which you are about to enter and make your own, is a country of hills and val eyswatered by the rain of heaven.	11 Invece la terra che andate a conquistare è una terra di montagne e di valli, che si disseta di acqua con la pioggia del cielo;
12 Yahweh your God looks after this country, the eyes of Yahweh your God are always on it, from thebeginning of the year to the end.	12 una terra di cui il Signore tuo Dio ha cura: continuamente sono su di essa gli occhi del Signore tuo Dio, dall'inizio dell'anno fino al suo termine.
13 Depend on it: if you faithfully obey the commandments I enjoin on you today, loving Yahweh yourGod and serving him with al your heart and al your soul,	13 Se veramente ascolterete i precetti che oggi vi prescrivo, amando il Signore vostro Dio e servendolo con tutto il vostro cuore e con tutta la vostra anima,
14 I shal give your country rain at the right time, rain in autumn, rain in spring, so that you can harvestyour wheat, your new wine and your oil.	14 darò la pioggia alla vostra terra al suo tempo, la prima pioggia e l'ultima, così raccoglierai il tuo frumento, il tuo mosto e il tuo olio,
15 I shal provide grass in the fields for your cattle, and you will eat to your heart's content.	15 e darò erba al tuo campo per il tuo bestiame: tu mangerai e ti sazierai.
16 Beware of letting your heart be seduced: if you go astray, serve other gods and bow down to them,	16 Badate a voi, che non sia sedotto il vostro cuore, deviando, servendo altri dèi e prostrandovi innanzi a loro:
17 Yahweh's anger wil be kindled against you, he wil shut the heavens, there wil be no more rain, thesoil wil not yield its produce and, in the fine country given you by Yahweh, you wil quickly perish.	17 si accenderebbe l'ira del Signore contro di voi, chiuderebbe il cielo, non vi sarebbe più pioggia, il suolo non darebbe più i suoi prodotti e perireste presto dalla buona terra che il Signore vi dona.
18 'Let these words of mine remain in your heart and in your soul; fasten them on your hand as a signand on your forehead as a headband.	18 Porrete queste mie parole sul vostro cuore e sulla vostra anima, le legherete come segno sulle vostre mani e saranno come un pendaglio tra i vostri occhi.
19 Teach them to your children, and keep on tel ing them, when you are sitting at home, when you areout and about, when you are lying down and when you are standing up.	19 Le insegnerete ai vostri figli, parlandone quando ti trovi in casa, quando cammini per strada, quando sei coricato e quando sei in piedi;
20 Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates,	20 le scriverai sugli stipiti della tua casa e sulle tue porte:
21 so that you and your children may live long in the country which Yahweh swore to your ancestorsthat he would give them for as long as there is a sky above the earth.	21 perché si prolunghino i vostri giorni e i giorni dei vostri figli come i giorni del cielo sopra la terra, sul suolo che il Signore ha giurato ai vostri padri di dar loro.
22 'For if you faithful y keep and observe al these commandments that I enjoin on you today, lovingYahweh your God, following all his ways and holding fast to him,	22 Poiché se veramente osserverete tutti questi ordini che vi prescrivo di praticare, amando il Signore vostro Dio, camminando in tutte le sue vie e aderendo a lui,
23 Yahweh wil dispossess al these nations before you, and you wil dispossess nations greater andmore powerful than yourselves.	23 il Signore spossesserà tutte quelle nazioni innanzi a voi e voi conquisterete nazioni più grandi e forti di voi.
24 Wherever the sole of your foot treads wil be yours; your territory will run from the desert al the wayto the Lebanon; and from the River, from the River Euphrates, as far as the Western Sea, wil be your territory.	24 Vostro sarà ogni luogo che la pianta dei vostri piedi calcherà; i vostri confini si estenderanno dal deserto al Libano, dal fiume, il fiume Eufrate, al Mare Mediterraneo.
25 No one wil be able to resist you; Yahweh your God will make you feared and dreaded throughout theterritory you tread, as he has promised you.	25 Non resisterà alcuno dinanzi a te; il Signore vostro Dio getterà il terrore e lo spavento di voi su tutta la faccia della terra che voi calcherete, come vi ha detto.
26 'Today, look, I am offering you a blessing and a curse:	26 Vedi, io pongo oggi innanzi a voi benedizione e maledizione:
27 a blessing, if you obey the commandments of Yahweh your God which I enjoin on you today;	27 benedizione se obbedirete ai precetti del Signore vostro Dio, che vi prescrivo oggi;
28 a curse, if you disobey the commandments of Yahweh your God and leave the way which today Ihave marked out for you, by following other gods hitherto unknown to you.	28 maledizione se non obbedirete ai precetti del Signore vostro Dio e devierete dal cammino che vi prescrivo oggi, seguendo altri dèi che non avete conosciuto.
29 And when Yahweh your God has brought you into the country which you are about to enter andmake your own, you must set the blessing on Mount Gerizim and the curse on Mount Ebal.	29 Quando il Signore tuo Dio ti avrà condotto nella terra che vai a conquistare, tu porrai la benedizione sul monte Garizim e la maledizione sul monte Ebal.
30 (These mountains, as everyone knows, are on the other side of the Jordan on the westward road, inthe territory of the Canaanites who live in the Arabah, opposite Gilgal, near the Oak of Moreh.)	30 Essi non si trovano forse al di là del Giordano, dietro il cammino del tramonto del sole, nella terra del Cananeo che abita l'Araba, di fronte a Gàlgala presso le Querce di More?
31 For you are about to cross the Jordan, to enter and take possession of the country given you byYahweh your God. You wil possess it, you wil live in it,	31 Voi infatti state per attraversare il Giordano per andare a conquistare la terra che il Signore vostro Dio vi dona: voi la conquisterete e dimorerete in essa,
32 and you must keep and observe al the laws and customs promulgated by me to you today.'	32 e baderete di eseguire tutte le prescrizioni e i decreti che oggi vi espongo.
