Deuteronomy 11

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 'You must love Yahweh your God and always keep his observances, his laws, his customs, hiscommandments.	1 Amarás al Señor, tu Dios, y observarás siempre sus prescripciones, sus preceptos, sus leyes y sus mandamientos.
2 You are the ones who have had the experience, not your children. They have not had the experience,they have not witnessed the lessons of Yahweh your God, his greatness, his mighty hand and his outstretchedarm,	2 Ustedes –y no sus hijos, que no han conocido ni experimentado la lección del Señor– son los que conocen hoy su grandeza, el poder de su mano y la fuerza de su brazo;
3 the signs and the deeds which he performed in the heart of Egypt, against Pharaoh king of Egypt andhis entire country,	3 los signos y las obras que realizó en Egipto contra el Faraón, rey de Egipto, y contra todo su país;
4 what he did to the armies of Egypt, to their horses and their chariots, by overwhelming them with thewaters of the Sea of Reeds when they were pursuing you, and leaving no trace of them to this day;	4 lo que hizo con el ejército egipcio, con su caballería y sus carros de guerra, cuando se lanzaron en persecución de ustedes y él desencadenó contra ellos las aguas del Mar Rojo, y los hizo desaparecer hasta el día de hoy;
5 what he did for you in the desert, until you arrived here;	5 lo que hizo por ustedes en el desierto, hasta que llegaron a este lugar;
6 what he did to Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab the Reubenite, when, with al Israel standinground, the earth opened its mouth and swal owed them, with their families, their tents and al their supporters.	6 y la manera como trató a Datán a Abirón, los hijos de Eliab, el rubenita, cuando la tierra abrió sus fauces y los devoró junto con sus familias, sus carpas, y todos sus secuaces, en medio de todo Israel.
7 Al these great deeds of Yahweh you have seen with your own eyes.	7 Sí, son ustedes los que han visto, con sus propios ojos, la gran obra que realizó el Señor.
8 'You must keep al the commandments which I enjoin on you today, so that you may have the strengthto conquer the country into which you are about to cross, to take possession of it,	8 Observen todos los mandamientos que hoy les prescribo. Así tendrán la fuerza necesaria para ir a conquistar el país del que ustedes van a tomar posesión.
9 and so that you may live long in the country which Yahweh promised on oath to bestow on yourancestors and their descendants, a country flowing with milk and honey.	9 y podrán vivir largo tiempo en la tierra que el Señor juró dar a sus padres y a su descendencia, tierra que mana leche y miel.
10 'For the country which you are about to enter and make your own is not like the country of Egyptfrom which you have come, where, having done your sowing, you had to water the seed by foot, as though in avegetable garden.	10 Porque la tierra que tú vas a tomar en posesión no es como Egipto, el país de donde ustedes salieron. Allí sembrabas tu semilla, y luego tenías que regar con tu pie, como se riega una huerta.
11 No, the country which you are about to enter and make your own, is a country of hills and val eyswatered by the rain of heaven.	11 En cambio, la tierra que vas a tomar en posesión es una región de montañas y valles regados por la lluvia del cielo,
12 Yahweh your God looks after this country, the eyes of Yahweh your God are always on it, from thebeginning of the year to the end.	12 y está bajo el cuidado constante del Señor, tu Dios. Sobre ella permanecen fijos los ojos del Señor, tu Dios, desde el comienzo hasta el fin del año.
13 Depend on it: if you faithfully obey the commandments I enjoin on you today, loving Yahweh yourGod and serving him with al your heart and al your soul,	13 Y si ustedes obedecen fielmente los mandamientos que hoy les impongo, amando al Señor, su Dios, y sirviéndolo de todo corazón y con toda el alma,
14 I shal give your country rain at the right time, rain in autumn, rain in spring, so that you can harvestyour wheat, your new wine and your oil.	14 yo enviaré lluvia a la tierra en el momento oportuno –lluvia de otoño y de primavera– y podrás recoger tu trigo, tu vino nuevo y tu aceite.
15 I shal provide grass in the fields for your cattle, and you will eat to your heart's content.	15 Haré crecer en tus campos pasto para tu ganado, y comerás hasta saciarte.
16 Beware of letting your heart be seduced: if you go astray, serve other gods and bow down to them,	16 Pero tengan cuidado, no sea que sus corazones se dejen seducir, y ustedes se extravíen, sirviendo a otros dioses y postrándose delante de ellos.
17 Yahweh's anger wil be kindled against you, he wil shut the heavens, there wil be no more rain, thesoil wil not yield its produce and, in the fine country given you by Yahweh, you wil quickly perish.	17 Porque entonces la ira del Señor arderá contra ustedes: él cerrará el cielo y ya no habrá más lluvia; el suelo dejará de dar sus frutos, y ustedes no tardarán en desaparecer de esta tierra fértil que les da el Señor.
18 'Let these words of mine remain in your heart and in your soul; fasten them on your hand as a signand on your forehead as a headband.	18 Graben estas palabras en lo más íntimo de su corazón. Atenlas a sus manos como un signo, y que sean como una marca sobre su frente.
19 Teach them to your children, and keep on tel ing them, when you are sitting at home, when you areout and about, when you are lying down and when you are standing up.	19 Enséñalas a tus hijos, inculcándoselas cuando estés en tu casa y cuando vayas de viaje, al acostarte y al levantarte.
20 Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates,	20 Escríbelas en las puertas de tu casa y en sus postes.
21 so that you and your children may live long in the country which Yahweh swore to your ancestorsthat he would give them for as long as there is a sky above the earth.	21 Así, mientras haya cielo sobre la tierra, durarán tus días y los de tus hijos en el suelo que el Señor juró dar a tus padres.
22 'For if you faithful y keep and observe al these commandments that I enjoin on you today, lovingYahweh your God, following all his ways and holding fast to him,	22 Porque si observan realmente todo este mandamiento que yo les doy, amando al Señor, su Dios, siguiendo siempre sus caminos y siendo en todo fieles a él.
23 Yahweh wil dispossess al these nations before you, and you wil dispossess nations greater andmore powerful than yourselves.	23 el Señor desposeerá delante de ustedes a todas esas naciones, y así podrán conquistarlas, aunque sean más grandes y fuertes que ustedes.
24 Wherever the sole of your foot treads wil be yours; your territory will run from the desert al the wayto the Lebanon; and from the River, from the River Euphrates, as far as the Western Sea, wil be your territory.	24 Todos los lugares donde pongan la planta de sus pies, les pertenecerán. Y estas serán sus fronteras; desde el desierto, el Líbano y el río Eufrates, hasta el mar occidental.
25 No one wil be able to resist you; Yahweh your God will make you feared and dreaded throughout theterritory you tread, as he has promised you.	25 Nadie podrá resistirles, porque el Señor, su Dios, sembrará el pánico y el terror en todo el territorio por donde ustedes pasen, como él mismo les ha prometido.
26 'Today, look, I am offering you a blessing and a curse:	26 Yo pongo hoy delante de ustedes una bendición y una maldición.
27 a blessing, if you obey the commandments of Yahweh your God which I enjoin on you today;	27 Bendición, si obedecen los mandamientos del Señor, su Dios, que hoy les impongo.
28 a curse, if you disobey the commandments of Yahweh your God and leave the way which today Ihave marked out for you, by following other gods hitherto unknown to you.	28 Maldición, si desobedecen esos mandamientos y se apartan del camino que yo les señalo, para ir detrás de dioses extraños, que ustedes no han conocido.
29 And when Yahweh your God has brought you into the country which you are about to enter andmake your own, you must set the blessing on Mount Gerizim and the curse on Mount Ebal.	29 Y cuando el Señor, tu Dios, te introduzca en la tierra de la que vas a tomar posesión, pondrás la bendición sobre el monte Ebal.
30 (These mountains, as everyone knows, are on the other side of the Jordan on the westward road, inthe territory of the Canaanites who live in the Arabah, opposite Gilgal, near the Oak of Moreh.)	30 Estas montañas se encuentran, como es sabido, al otro lado del Jordán, detrás del camino del oeste, en el país de los cananeos que habitan en la Arabá, frente a Guilgal, cerca de la encina de Moré.
31 For you are about to cross the Jordan, to enter and take possession of the country given you byYahweh your God. You wil possess it, you wil live in it,	31 Porque ustedes van a cruzar el Jordán para ir a tomar posesión de la tierra que les da el Señor, su Dios Cuando la posean y vivan en ella.
32 and you must keep and observe al the laws and customs promulgated by me to you today.'	32 cumplan fielmente todos los preceptos y leyes que hoy les impongo.
