NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 'Be careful not to parade your uprightness in public to attract attention; otherwise you wil lose al rewardfrom your Father in heaven.	1 Tengan cuidado de no practicar su justicia delante de los hombres para ser vistos por ellos: de lo contrario, no recibirán ninguna recompensa del Padre que está en el cielo.
2 So when you give alms, do not have it trumpeted before you; this is what the hypocrites do in thesynagogues and in the streets to win human admiration. In truth I tel you, they have had their reward.	2 Por lo tanto, cuando des limosna, no lo vayas pregonando delante de ti, como hacen los hipócritas en las sinagogas y en las calles, para ser honrados por los hombres. Les aseguro que ellos ya tienen su recompensa.
3 But when you give alms, your left hand must not know what your right is doing;	3 Cuando tú des limosna, que tu mano izquierda ignore lo que hace la derecha,
4 your almsgiving must be secret, and your Father who sees al that is done in secret wil reward you.	4 para que tu limosna quede en secreto; y tu Padre, que ve en lo secreto, te recompensará.
5 'And when you pray, do not imitate the hypocrites: they love to say their prayers standing up in thesynagogues and at the street corners for people to see them. In truth I tel you, they have had their reward.	5 Cuando ustedes oren, no hagan como los hipócritas: a ellos les gusta orar de pie en las sinagogas y en las esquinas de las calles, para ser vistos. Les aseguro que ellos ya tienen su recompensa.
6 But when you pray, go to your private room, shut yourself in, and so pray to your Father who is in thatsecret place, and your Father who sees al that is done in secret wil reward you.	6 Tú, en cambio, cuando ores, retírate a tu habitación, cierra la puerta y ora a tu Padre que está en lo secreto; y tu Padre, que ve en lo secreto, te recompensará.
7 'In your prayers do not babble as the gentiles do, for they think that by using many words they wil makethemselves heard.	7 Cuando oren, no hablen mucho, como hacen los paganos: ellos creen que por mucho hablar serán escuchados.
8 Do not be like them; your Father knows what you need before you ask him.	8 No hagan como ellos, porque el Padre que está en el cielo sabe bien qué es lo que les hace falta, antes de que se lo pidan.
9 So you should pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be held holy,	9 Ustedes oren de esta manera: Padre nuestro, que estás en el cielo, santificado sea tu Nombre,
10 your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven.	10 que venga tu Reino, que se haga tu voluntad en la tierra como en el cielo.
11 Give us today our daily bread.	11 Danos hoy nuestro pan de cada día.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we have forgiven those who are in debt to us.	12 Perdona nuestras ofensas, como nosotros perdonamos a los que nos han ofendido.
13 And do not put us to the test, but save us from the Evil One.	13 No nos dejes caer en la tentación, sino líbranos del mal.
14 'Yes, if you forgive others their failings, your heavenly Father wil forgive you yours;	14 Si perdonan sus faltas a los demás, el Padre que está en el cielo también los perdonará a ustedes.
15 but if you do not forgive others, your Father wil not forgive your failings either.	15 Pero si no perdonan a los demás, tampoco el Padre los perdonará a ustedes.
16 'When you are fasting, do not put on a gloomy look as the hypocrites do: they go about lookingunsightly to let people know they are fasting. In truth I tel you, they have had their reward.	16 Cuando ustedes ayunen, no pongan cara triste, como hacen los hipócritas, que desfiguran su rostro para que se note que ayunan. Les aseguro que con eso, ya han recibido su recompensa.
17 But when you fast, put scent on your head and wash your face,	17 Tú, en cambio, cuando ayunes, perfuma tu cabeza y lava tu rostro,
18 so that no one will know you are fasting except your Father who sees al that is done in secret; andyour Father who sees al that is done in secret wil reward you.	18 para que tu ayuno no sea conocido por los hombres, sino por tu Padre que está en lo secreto; y tu Padre, que ve en lo secreto, te recompensará.
19 'Do not store up treasures for yourselves on earth, where moth and woodworm destroy them andthieves can break in and steal.	19 No acumulen tesoros en la tierra, donde la polilla y la herrumbre los consumen, y los ladrones perforan las paredes y los roban.
20 But store up treasures for yourselves in heaven, where neither moth nor woodworm destroys them andthieves cannot break in and steal.	20 Acumulen, en cambio, tesoros en el cielo, donde no hay polilla ni herrumbre que los consuma, ni ladrones que perforen y roben.
21 For wherever your treasure is, there wil your heart be too.	21 Allí donde esté tu tesoro, estará también tu corazón.
22 'The lamp of the body is the eye. It follows that if your eye is clear, your whole body will be fil ed withlight.	22 La lámpara del cuerpo es el ojo. Si el ojo está sano, todo el cuerpo estará iluminado.
23 But if your eye is diseased, your whole body will be darkness. If then, the light inside you is darkened,what darkness that wil be!	23 Pero si el ojo está enfermo, todo el cuerpo estará en tinieblas. Si la luz que hay en ti se oscurece, ¡cuánta oscuridad habrá!
24 'No one can be the slave of two masters: he will either hate the first and love the second, or beattached to the first and despise the second. You cannot be the slave both of God and of money.	24 Nadie puede servir a dos señores, porque aborrecerá a uno y amará al otro, o bien, se interesará por el primero y menospreciará al segundo. No se puede servir a Dios y al Dinero.
25 'That is why I am tel ing you not to worry about your life and what you are to eat, nor about your bodyand what you are to wear. Surely life is more than food, and the body more than clothing!	25 Por eso les digo: No se inquieten por su vida, pensando qué van a comer, ni por su cuerpo, pensando con qué se van a vestir. ¿No vale acaso más la vida que la comida y el cuerpo más que el vestido?
26 Look at the birds in the sky. They do not sow or reap or gather into barns; yet your heavenly Fatherfeeds them. Are you not worth much more than they are?	26 Miren los pájaros del cielo: ellos no siembran ni cosechan, ni acumulan en graneros, y sin embargo, el Padre que está en el cielo los alimenta. ¿No valen ustedes acaso más que ellos?
27 Can any of you, however much you worry, add one single cubit to your span of life?	27 ¿Quién de ustedes, por mucho que se inquiete, puede añadir un solo instante al tiempo de su vida?
28 And why worry about clothing? Think of the flowers growing in the fields; they never have to work orspin;	28 ¿Y por qué se inquietan por el vestido? Miren los lirios del campo, cómo van creciendo sin fatigarse ni tejer.
29 yet I assure you that not even Solomon in al his royal robes was clothed like one of these.	29 Yo les aseguro que ni Salomón, en el esplendor de su gloria, se vistió como uno de ellos.
30 Now if that is how God clothes the wild flowers growing in the field which are there today and throwninto the furnace tomorrow, wil he not much more look after you, you who have so little faith?	30 Si Dios viste así la hierba de los campos, que hoy existe y mañana será echada al fuego, ¡cuánto más hará por ustedes, hombres de poca fe!
31 So do not worry; do not say, "What are we to eat? What are we to drink? What are we to wear?"	31 No se inquieten entonces, diciendo: «¿Qué comeremos, qué beberemos, o con qué nos vestiremos?».
32 It is the gentiles who set their hearts on al these things. Your heavenly Father knows you need themal .	32 Son los paganos los que van detrás de estas cosas. El Padre que está en el cielo sabe bien que ustedes las necesitan.
33 Set your hearts on his kingdom first, and on God's saving justice, and al these other things wil begiven you as wel .	33 Busquen primero el Reino y su justicia, y todo lo demás se les dará por añadidura.
34 So do not worry about tomorrow: tomorrow wil take care of itself. Each day has enough trouble of itsown.'	34 No se inquieten por el día de mañana; el mañana se inquietará por sí mismo. A cada día le basta su aflicción.
