1 In the second year of King Darius, on the first day of the sixth month, the word of Yahweh wasaddressed through the prophet Haggai to Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel governor of Judah and to Joshua son ofJehozadak the high priest as fol ows,	1 L'anno secondo del re Dario, nel sesto mese, il primo del mese, il Signore parlò per mezzo del profeta Aggeo a Zorobabele figlio di Salatici, principe di Giuda, e a Gesù figlio di Iosedec sommo sacerdote, dicendo:
2 'Yahweh Sabaoth says this, "This people says: The time has not yet come to rebuild the Temple ofYahweh." '	2 « Queste cose dice il Signore degli eserciti: Questo popolo dice: — Il tempo di riedificare la casa del Signore non è ancora venuto. —
3 (And the word of Yahweh was addressed through the prophet Haggai, as follows,)	3 Ma la parola del Signore è venuta per mezzo del profeta Aggeo e dice:
4 'Is this a time for you to live in your panel ed houses, when this House lies in ruins?	4 Per voi dunque è il tempo d'abitare in case con bei soffitti, mentre questa casa è deserta?
5 So now, Yahweh Sabaoth says this, "Think careful y about your behaviour.	5 Or dunque cos dice il Signore degli eserciti: Considerate attentamente il vostro modo di procedere:
6 You have sown much and harvested little; you eat but never have enough, drink but never have yourfill, put on clothes but feel no warmth. The wage-earner gets his wages only to put them in a bag with a hole init."	6 avete seminato molto e raccolto poco; avete mangiato, ma senza saziarvi; avete bevuto, ma senza rallegrarvi: vi siete coperti senza riscaldarvi; e chi ha accumulati risparmi li ha messi in una tasca rotta.
7 Yahweh Sabaoth says this, "Think careful y about your behaviour.	7 Così dice il Signore degli eserciti: Considerate il vostro modo di procedere,
8 Go up into the hills, fetch timber and rebuild the House; and I shal take pleasure in it and manifest myglory there -- Yahweh says.	8 andate al monte, portate il legname, riedificate la casa: mi sarà gradita, e sarò glorificato — dice il Signore. —
9 The abundance you expected proved to be little. When you brought the harvest in, I blasted it. Andwhy? - Yahweh Sabaoth declares. Because while my House lies in ruins, each of you is busy with his ownhouse.	9 Voi speravate tanto; ma s'è ridotto a poco; lo portaste a casa; ma lo feci sparire in un soffio. E perchè? — dice il Signore degli eserciti — Perchè la mia casa è deserta, mentre tutti avete avuta gran fretta per la vostra casa.
10 That is why the sky has withheld the rain and the earth withheld its yield.	10 Per questo fu proibito ai cieli di darvi la rugiada, e alla terra di darvi i suoi frutti.
11 I have cal ed down drought on land and hil s, on grain, on new wine, on olive oil and on al the produceof the ground, on humans and animals and al your labours." '	11 Io feci venire la siccità sulla terra e sui monti, sul grano, sul vino e sull'olio, su tutti i prodotti del suolo, sugli uomini e sulle bestie, su tutti i lavori delle mani ».
12 Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, Joshua son of Jehozadak the high priest and the entire remnant of thepeople, paid attention to the voice of Yahweh their God and to the words of the prophet Haggai, which Yahwehtheir God had sent him to deliver. And the people were fil ed with fear before Yahweh.	12 Zorobabele, figlio di Salatiel, e il sommo sacerdote Gesù, figlio di Iosedec, e tutto il resto del popolo ascoltarono la voce del Signore loro Dio, le parole del profeta Aggeo, mandato ad essi dal Signore loro Dio, e il popolo temè il Signore.
13 Haggai, the messenger of Yahweh, then passed on Yahweh's message to the people, 'I am with you-- declares Yahweh.'	13 E Aggeo inviato del Signore, per ordine del Signore disse al popolo: « Il Signore ha detto: Io son con voi ».
14 And Yahweh roused the spirit of Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel governor of Judah, the spirit of Joshuason of Jehozadak the high priest and the spirit of the entire remnant of the people; they came and set to work inthe Temple of Yahweh Sabaoth, their God.	14 E il Signore avvivò lo spirito di Zorobabele, figlio di Salatiel, principe di Giuda, e lo spirito di Gesù, figlio di Iosedec, sommo sacerdote, e lo spirito di tutto il resto del popolo, e andarono a lavorare alla casa del Signore degli eserciti loro Dio.
