NEW JERUSALEM	DIODATI
1 In the second year of King Darius, on the first day of the sixth month, the word of Yahweh wasaddressed through the prophet Haggai to Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel governor of Judah and to Joshua son ofJehozadak the high priest as fol ows,	1 NELL’anno secondo del re Dario, nel sesto mese, nel primo giorno del mese, la parola del Signore fu indirizzata, per lo profeta Aggeo, a Zorobabel, figliuolo di Sealtiel, governatore di Giuda, ed a Iosua, figliuolo di Iosadac, sommo sacerdote, dicendo:
2 'Yahweh Sabaoth says this, "This people says: The time has not yet come to rebuild the Temple ofYahweh." '	2 Così ha detto il Signor degli eserciti: Questo popolo ha detto: Il tempo non è ancora venuto, il tempo che la Casa del Signore ha da esser riedificata.
3 (And the word of Yahweh was addressed through the prophet Haggai, as follows,)	3 E perciò la parola del Signore fu rivelata per lo profeta Aggeo, dicendo:
4 'Is this a time for you to live in your panel ed houses, when this House lies in ruins?	4 È egli ben tempo per voi di abitar nelle vostre case intavolate, mentre questa Casa resta deserta?
5 So now, Yahweh Sabaoth says this, "Think careful y about your behaviour.	5 Ora dunque, così ha detto il Signor degli eserciti: Ponete mente alle vie vostre.
6 You have sown much and harvested little; you eat but never have enough, drink but never have yourfill, put on clothes but feel no warmth. The wage-earner gets his wages only to put them in a bag with a hole init."	6 Voi avete seminato assai, ed avete riposto poco; avete mangiato, e non vi siete potuti saziare; avete bevuto, e non vi siete potuti inebbriare; siete stati vestiti, e niuno si è potuto riscaldare; e colui che si è messo a servire per prezzo, l’ha fatto per mettere il suo salario in un sacco forato.
7 Yahweh Sabaoth says this, "Think careful y about your behaviour.	7 Così ha detto il Signore degli eserciti: Ponete mente alle vie vostre.
8 Go up into the hills, fetch timber and rebuild the House; and I shal take pleasure in it and manifest myglory there -- Yahweh says.	8 Salite al monte, e adducetene del legname, ed edificate questa Casa; ed io mi compiacerò in essa, e mi glorificherò, ha detto il Signore.
9 The abundance you expected proved to be little. When you brought the harvest in, I blasted it. Andwhy? - Yahweh Sabaoth declares. Because while my House lies in ruins, each of you is busy with his ownhouse.	9 Voi avete riguardato ad assai, ed ecco, ciò si è ridotto a poco; ed avete menato in casa, ed io ho soffiato sopra. Perchè? dice il Signor degli eserciti. Per la mia Casa, che è deserta; laddove ciascun di voi corre per la sua casa.
10 That is why the sky has withheld the rain and the earth withheld its yield.	10 Perciò, il cielo è stato serrato sopra voi, per non dar rugiada la terra eziandio ha ristretta la sua rendita.
11 I have cal ed down drought on land and hil s, on grain, on new wine, on olive oil and on al the produceof the ground, on humans and animals and al your labours." '	11 Ed io ho chiamata la secchezza sopra la terra, e sopra i monti, e sopra il frumento, e sopra il mosto, e sopra l’olio, e sopra tutto ciò che la terra produce; e sopra gli uomini, e sopra le bestie, e sopra tutta la fatica delle mani
12 Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, Joshua son of Jehozadak the high priest and the entire remnant of thepeople, paid attention to the voice of Yahweh their God and to the words of the prophet Haggai, which Yahwehtheir God had sent him to deliver. And the people were fil ed with fear before Yahweh.	12 Or Zorobabel, figliuolo di Sealtiel, e Iosua, figliuolo di Iosadac, sommo sacerdote, e tutto il rimanente del popolo, ubbidirono alla voce del Signore Iddio loro, ed alle parole del profeta Aggeo, secondo che il Signore Iddio loro l’avea mandato; e il popolo temette del Signore.
13 Haggai, the messenger of Yahweh, then passed on Yahweh's message to the people, 'I am with you-- declares Yahweh.'	13 Ed Aggeo, messo del Signore, disse al popolo, per commission del Signore: Io son con voi, dice il Signore.
14 And Yahweh roused the spirit of Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel governor of Judah, the spirit of Joshuason of Jehozadak the high priest and the spirit of the entire remnant of the people; they came and set to work inthe Temple of Yahweh Sabaoth, their God.	14 Il Signore adunque destò lo spirito di Zorobabel, figliuolo di Sealtiel governatore di Giuda, e lo spirito di Iosua, figliuolo di Iosadac, sommo sacerdote, e lo spirito di tutto il rimanente del popolo; e vennero, e lavorarono intorno alla Casa del Signor degli eserciti, loro Dio.
